I think that this is where so much value is found in bonsai: the journey. I absolutely love when the history and documentation of a tree is known and showcased. If you only had the 2021 tree it’d still be impressive, but the best part is all the years leading up to it. I’ve only been practicing for a little over a year now but have done my best to document my trees’ journeys as well. Not all will make it but I can only hope that one day in the many years to come that I could develop a tree as amazing as this

I wish I would have gotten more pics of my trees. Great work. Looks like a female part. 2 of my favorite things combined

A very good progression video for this beauty. From basically a twisted abbreviated trunk, to a informal slanted well designed mature Bonsai. Well done !

beginner here, great video and great progress, would it have benefited from a bigger pot in the early years?

I have a great American Hornbeam candidate on my property but will need a complete trunk chop before collecting. When is the best time to do this? Late winter/early spring before buds pop? And is there any way to tell where the dormant nodes are and aren't, or do I chop to size and hope for the best? It's one of a thousand hornbeams on my place and the root structure is very near the creek, and thus not very strong to support its current height.
