I think I speak for everyone when I say we're probably all curious regarding the Maple clump you assembled in your first video. Thanks for the follow-up on this one!
Bjorn please show us how you progress forward with the maple seedlings you putted together in the part 1 and 2❤️ we are many people that started a clump project like yours
This series of videos is one of the best tutorials for beginners on the internet. Also your juniper development videos. Superb work Bjorn and thank you for sharing your time and knowledge with us. 🙏❤️
A great follow up video. After watching the first one some 3 years ago, I was inspired to start a couple of clump styles off using saplings. I will give them another 2 years to see if they've fused together.
Brilliant video and as usual it is packed with practical advice. Having watched your video showing how to create one of these I put one together myself and coincidentally I was working on it today. I'll look forward to following this tree as it continues to develop.
Looking forward to watching the video on that one Tony. I’ve got similar plans to create several clumps of various species this spring. I’m going to try fusing the trunks together using a washer super glued to a CD. Modern man strikes again 😊
@@mattbrennan647 nice idea. I have some beni maikos, but there's no way to get the trunks through a washer or tile, so I think I'm going to try using wire tourniquets.
Nice looking clump. What happened with the JM clump you started from scratch in those videos where you also showcased this 20 year old clump? I started a few JM clumps following your instructions in that video. Cheers!
I’m so glad you made this video. I came across your videos and channel about 3 years ago this tree and your good self are the ones who inspired me to start my own channel. This composition and clump style tree is awesome. I’m just about to put my first one together I’ll be recapping on your videos before I do. Just wanted to say thanks for your inspiration dude and happy Christmas 🎅👍👍👍
Very interesting video. Thank you very much for sharing the evolution. A few years ago I saw a video of this same tree and it encouraged me to make one with Burguerian Maples from zero as you taught us. Greetings from Spain, Great job at the ABE congress.
It was awesome to see this iconic maple at the National show, and comforting knowing it's in Aki's care at @MomijiEn ! I received a nice kabudachi Red Sentinel JM pre-bonsai from Ed Clark this winter, and I'm excited to get to work bringing it into form. Thanks for the inspiration! Already seeing some great maples in your Kyoto location!🪴🍁
15:33 The main trunk bother me a lot, i want to cut that thing. 18:00 i like the one on the left. but I think it's good contrast if we put it side by side like this, so we can keep the main trunk for the one on the right side. XD and for the wedge, using a bamboo is kinda better IMO. ty for the share.
With the copper brace, use your pliers and wire cutters, hold both ends and twist. It will work harden the copper better for this exact purpose, then just fix the points if needed.
Hello Bjorn, a great and very interesting continuation with a lot of important information. But what has become of the new project? I had also started this design style and it would be very interesting to see what your clump style looks like in the meantime. Many thanks and greetings!
Always enjoy your video's Bjorn, you clearly explain the different techniques very well. I am presently developing several Japanese maple trees and will apply what you demonstrated on your video. Thank you for sharing, Happy holidays to you and your family.
For those who don’t know Mr. Bjorn as a person let me tell you guys something amazing he did for me. About a year ago I sent him an email that I wanted to buy a pot from him but if it was possible for him to sign it, right away I received an email back from him asking me for my address, he sent it free of charge.
10/10 I dont understand the Japanese aesthetic choice of putting lime sulfur to whiten their tree. But then you mention about covering up the old scar on the tree. It reminds me of Geisha that wears those white make-up. Maybe thats why.
Your tree remits me of the mother trees you would see in the middle of a field. The many would disquilifie for lumber so it would be left to spreed its seeds over the field to reforest theat field, or be a place where the farmer to dump rocks.
Wow! So did you simply lump the trunks together and they fused naturally or did you expose any of the cambium to the other trunks so that there would be almost a grafting?
What a really inspiring video, thank you for sharing Bjorn. From your links, I followed this back a couple of years to the first stages and wondered if there is a 'better' time of the year to bond the seedlings together to start the clump off?
Hello, Great video as always- Thank you. Quick question: Can we do this kind of work in December, knowing the cold weather is coming or is it better to do this in the end of Feb / March? Even with cut paste, I always assumed to wait for begining of spring?
I imagine Deshojo, shin Deshojo or a Beni Maiko would be superb for that. They have the vivid red leaf and the bark tends to be lighter grey as they age - though often helped with jin fluid/lime sulphur.
What are your opinions on / experiences woth fusing older plants together? Im currently working on a kabudachi-bunjin frankenstein pine, it’s actually coming along quite nicely
Bjorn I have a question regarding the use of Lime Sulphur, did you make it yourself or is it commercial? Watching the video I have the feeling that its texture is very thick and its color is practically white like milk. My Lime Sulphur however is orange in color. I really liked the technique of applying it to the trunk to age it. Best regards and thanks for the video.
Was the work done in the video done during fall (after leaf fall) or early spring time? I’m sad to hear that u will be moving back to Japan. But am happy knowing that it is something that u want to do!! I wish u and ur family all the best!! Take care and have a blessed day
Bonjour, lorsque vous développez un érable dans ce style, le faite vous de la même manière qu'une foret ? Je veux dire avec un nombre de tronc impaire ? Merci.
Love this tree, its awesome Bjorn. By the way you have a good scratch on your left arm have you being fighting with a tree 😅😅, Great video thanks for sharing
70/30... by weight?...by volume?... weight by volume?... volume by weight?... density?... Could you spray on the lime sulfur and and spray distilled water on the tips and get and equal or better effect?

That's what I expected this video to be about.
Yes please
Aw crap I was hoping to see the results 😭
I am really interested in that as well.
Ikr! Do we remove the tie around the roots? When do we do that? What about winter storage
I literally rewatched the original video yesterday and was praying a follow up would come soon
To bad this is not even a follow up, its just a follow up of the plant he made when he was a kid.
A really wonderful tree with a great back story. It gives me hope for my seedlings! Thank you for the follow up.

I'd be really curious to see an update on the kabudachi maples you set up in part one.
Oh I missunderstood the intro part. I thought it was that bunch. That makes me feel A LOT better about how mine is coming along.
I would have liked to see the progress of the clump from 3 years ago as well.
Great ramification and movement so far, Love to see the personal trees developed to such quality! BONSAI!
It's so cool that you and your dad share the passion for bonsai..

At the end of the video he addresses trees too big for washers. 👍🏻
What a magnificent tree. I always look forward to your videos Bjorn
All the explanations as clear as usual. Awesome.
Happy Holidays thanks for all the great videos

it's really chunked up since that first video... excellent work sir, great inspiration

This video was My bonsai inspiration ❤️😭

They really grow up incredibly fast!!!
I am definitely give a go and try this method
Part 1 and 2 got me into bonsai when it came out some time back... Cant believe its been years actually!
As always top maple videos.... really top. Thanks.
I also love that the norseman has a red nose at Christmas time

Awesome! I’ve been wondering on this clump ever since I saw your original video. Excellent content. Thanks, keep growing
Such high quality
thanks master and Merry Christmas
This series is really interesting. Is there a hole through the centre of these trees? If not, how do you prevent water pooling that would cause rot?
I love to see follow ups

Bjorn what cultivar of trees are these? I'd love to start a similar project to make a Game of Thrones "heart tree" style kabudashi

Have been looking for a wound sealing putty like you've used 8:58. If you had affiliate links I'd be happy to use 'em!
Japanese maple bonsai, this beautifull trees
Brilliant.
What happened too the other sapling bunches from part 1?
Bonjour, lorsque vous développez un érable dans ce style, le faite vous de la même manière qu'une foret ? Je veux dire avec un nombre de tronc impaire ? Merci.
Gonna be honest the right tree looks better to me, the lines and flow look more aesthetic
Awesome!!
Greetings from Italy
Woah! Dad-Bjorn Jumpscare 🤣
I have to admit the second tree does look much better
Can you use the same technique as you did with this to create a clump from zelcova or birch?
Most deciduous trees will fuse but JMs seem to fuse faster than most for some reason. I think because they are pretty vigorous.
Knipex, good choice.
What kind of maple did he use for that clump 20 years ago? I seem to have missed that part
Yes I know it's a japanese maple. But like green, red, ?
