Thus is EXACTLY what happened to me. My oil pressure was and had been at 12psi, I knew I had to change my O-rings and suction manifold but I procrastinated. I was on a live load, parked in a yard where we always park, woke up to warm up the truck and noticed zero oil psi right away. I shut it down and as Francisco mentioned I kept starting it. Spun a main and ended up costing me $32k! If you notice your oil pressure lower than 15psi, CHANGE the O-rings and oil manifold, hell, roll new mains and rod bearings in. Your bank account will thank you!
I have a very important question - wonder if you can answer this - what part of the oil suction manifold is dipped in the oil ? just the plastic skirt/lip or more than that ? my DD15 Cascadia engine locked and when we dropped the oil pan we saw that the plastic skirt of the oil suction manifold was not there - we wonder if that starved the engine housing of oil and engine locked ? btw, no warning lights or codes came on and there was no operator error - we are trying to find the reason whey engine locked -
the suction manifold is dipped in oil but if the manifold broke from the same area as you can see in this video. that could the cause of the engine failure
What would cause the oil filter to suck together almost like it was crushed, driver didn’t change oil for well over what he should have, did service pulled filter and it was like that put a new filter a week later it did it again. Any help please
What kind/brand oil filter are you using? Oil weight? If you are using aftermarket filter's this can cause what you are experiencing. A lot of aftermarket filter's have different microns, microns are essentially how much fluid or air (if it's a external filter)can flow thru it. However, with these motors you do not want to fun filter's with less microns than oem filter's bc of what's happening to you. Oil filter's will collapse when the demand is pretty high. If you want to run aftermarket filter's, Google search what the manufacturer micron is and look to see which filter's are out there that meet oem spec's.
Does Freightliner Cascadia 2017 has a safety shutoff if engine does not get oil ? my engine locked due to lack of oil in the housing but no Warning lights came on and consequently truck did not shut itself off - appreciate your help with this question
the engine has shutdown protocols. if the oil pressure drops below 12 psi the engine will turn off. sadly at 13 psi and high rpm the engine does not shutdown causing this problem.

Replace oil suction manifold and o rings at 400k to 500k and you'll be alright
Swap a new DD15 engine
Cheap plastic parts. A Cat does not have this problem.
DD15 is not worth it get a Cummings in a Cascadia facts
cut it out. you dont have the experience to say that.
