Bought the two vhs set for thirty dollars in the late 80s, when thirty dollars was a lot of money. Never even once did I regret the purchase whatsoever.
Its true! it is a magnificent movie! when I started watching it I could not stop, It's sooo easy to become fully invested in it from the characters, to the story. I'm usually bored with black and white films, but Akira's works are an exception. The weird thing was, that I've already seen 7 samurai, in varius different formats and iterations but I still felt that this was the best.
He made dramas, noirs, fantasy, horror, but Akira Kurosawa was mainly the best action director ever. The best. Seven Samurai is the best example, especially because he never sold action for action, his stories are about loyalty, courage, human beings, human rights and human condition.
Greetings from America 🇺🇸 I have much Respect for your country , your people and your culture ❤ It is good that you feel proud to be Japanese 🇯🇵 Just as I feel proud to be American 🇺🇸
I was a little apprehensive about seeing a black and white film as old as this. But once you see the opening shot. You know you’re in the hands of a phenomenal director.
If you like Akria Kurosawa, check out some of his work that was inspired by the plays of William Shakespeare. "Throne of Blood" in particular is AWESOME! (It was based on the tragedy play "MacBeth").
When Kikuichi (Sorry if i spelled wrong) holding the babies with the background of fire old man house, amd its remind him of the past. Touchy moment, and materpiece cinematography
Kurosawa's ultimate masterpiece and the Magnificent Seven with Steve Mc Queen, Yule Brenner, and Charles Bronson was based on it. Not to mention Sergio Leone's string of "Spighetti" westerns starring a little known actor at the time name Clint Eastwood, patterned after the main character in "Yojimbo" . And the ultimate irony is the fact the Kurosawa himself actually based much of his own work on the "American Western" genre.
Honestly, the quality of this movie is unmatched. I believe this is one of the greatest movies ever made.
Agree.
キューブリック、スピルバーグ、コッポラ、スコセッシ等の名監督が黒澤明を尊敬してる理由がこの作品を見ると本当に分かる。映画史に残る大傑作です
One of the best movies ever made. Eternal masterpiece
It's still one of the most (if not the most) influential movies ever made ... Akira was and still is the king of directors.
Ich habe diesen Film schon so oft gesehen. Er fasziniert mich immer wieder. Ein wahres Meisterwerk und eine interessante Geschichte ❤

The best combination in japan movies was Toshiro Mifune with Akira Kurosawa !, actor & director
❤ Japan🇹🇭🇯🇵👍❤️💯

This movie is truly art . The American version years later was The Magnificent Seven .😊
Kurosawa's ultimate masterpiece and the Magnificent Seven with Steve Mc Queen, Yule Brenner, and Charles Bronson was based on it.
