During this emergency boiler replacement, we decommissioned and disposed a condensing boiler/water heater and installed the @WeilMcLainCo EcoTec 150 wall hung combi. Done before lunchtime! So this first is for Daniel!! Daniel you will not believe how much time that tape measure will save you in a year!! I absolutely ❤love mine !! Best part?? It totally eliminates being off ! After you use it for a week or two, you’ll never go back to a standard tape measure👍
Ok Now so if was water in inside burner? Had to be a defective weld on top somewhere… but Dam she was a nice looking unit but ?? She is dead an it just ABSOLUTELY amazes me how fast you all do A R&R just simply amazing…. But I can see hours of labor, saving not having to braze all the joints! Granted the fittings cost more and the tool-is ouch’ee expensive. BUT!! the name of the game is time spent in labor!!!! Every hour you don’t spend on a job site is money in the company pocket!! I do love how neat an clean all your jobs sites are when done!! ❤

All the water in the bottom of the heat exchanger is causing the explosive ignition. It just needed the condensate unblocking and a good service lol

I'd guess the guy took it apart, cleaned it and messed up the venturi, burners, exchanger, missing restrictor, whatever. no ignition or delayed ignition. WHOOSH
or the gas valve could be opening wrong amount/too slow. ** Caught there was another contractor involved, so maybe/maybe not their fault.

Hey Mikey, how about none of the above. Did you look at the swirl plate between the gas valve and fan? At that age they disintegrate.
That plastic piece that's literally stamped "dung" that u can't replace. They make u buy a whole fan assembly, it's nuts.
the fella probably bunged it up tinkering and cleaning, parts in wrong order, missing or other things bad. who knows after someone else has been fiddle-farting about.
My experience HTP have a lot of issues, I have a few ( Models ELX-500FBN ) less than a year old that have had all boards and inducer motor replaced.
btw HTP has a poor tech support, I’ve had to call back the same day and ask for a lead tech support person, One common issue with the F13 error is NOT the inducer motor but the communication cable to board they even have a special harness to correct this error code ! Part Number 7350p-800
In my opinion they are complete junk and expensive to keep part changing .
As a lay person I see the fresh air and the exhaust is connected to the same pipe going outside??? Did I miss something?

Nice install for an emergency replacement. How do you feel about only using barrier pex on the boiler side, and will you go back to replace that piece between the auto feed and the tee at the expansion tank? Just curious. Not a criticism

Begs for heat pump - that would be the correct move in the intermediate term.

Abandon nothing - except for the gas.
You said the boiler sends "heating water" at 120F - that is well within the "happiness zone" of an air to water heat pump.
So - the heat pump fulfills the function of the boiler without any combustion.
The move to replace the boiler with a boiler was the good move for "up and running." And, intermediate or future term allows for improvement.

What is wrong with these people acting like 12 is ancient. Can we all not expect 15 years out of a piece of equipment???? Especially paying a couple hundred dollars maintaining it for years? Sad. Reflects badly on the installing contractor when it’s really the manufacturer. Now contractors are seeing the opportunity and telling people equipment only lasts 10 years. I have never seen a 10 year old furnace oil or gas, air conditioner, or boiler NEED replacement at 10 years. That’s coming from someone who makes commission if I sell a unit.
