Whats best ccombi boiler for the money in your opinion mate?
I am from Algeria, your methods of work are wonderful and different

Again amazing care , the fact that john covered the stairs you knew the job was going to be quality

Even to an inexperienced eye, this looks like such a neat job. Beautiful end result!!! If it was my house, I would totally fix the side walls and paint them so that nothing spoils the beauty of a new, perfectly installed boiler. 😀
Pure class installation! Must be proud of his work.

Yeah Allen it’s good to watch what other people do, we never stop learning, and your man is a great installer. You're certainly doing your bit to help raise the standard in boiler installations.
We got to replace a Remeha Selecta due parts not available. Keep up the good work.
Thanks.
Old school soldering for me I'm afraid Alan, done it all my working life (40 years now),excellent job a standard for the industry👍
Thanks mark 👍
Thank You
That is a beautiful install, loving all the work done there it really looks great.
John is a very very good installer. Thanks for the feedback.
Great video. Enjoyed the extra details and references to the manufacturers instructions.
Thank You
I like your videos Allen, old school plumber and time served, not many of you about the game is littered with jumpers in.

I wasn’t aware that they recommend compression fitting on the prv. I usually solder on to it so thanks for pointing that out. Love my Logic boilers still!
Really interesting video. Two experts, two different styles, both right.
Thank You
From Algeria, 🇩🇿 a very good job, brother.
Stay safe. Watch this one just in case. Thanks ua-cam.com/video/Hh5lFC7VI4U/v-deo.html
It’s like being back at college with the swaging tool , all we need now is a bit of lead burning
That would actually make a good video. I might do that. Thanks for watching.
@@AllenHart999 are these one of the easier combis to install mate would you say?
You only sold that one side with a fittings both sides always a pleasure to watch thank you for the videos
Thank you for watching.
Thanks for your video.
Greeting from ALBANIA 🇦🇱
Nice job 👍🏻 I too well remember wacking the back of my hand on many occasions 🤬 I still use a tube expander but prefer the 'scissor' type. Great for extending tail pipes to radiators where needed. My tip is anneal the tube before expanding. I've known the tube to split on occasions, so better safe than sorry!
Fantastic work Looks great, that condensate tip 👏
I didn't know you could bend condensate pipe like that. Nice one.👍
First for me as well. Great day.
Wished you lived near Surrey you're always spot on with your installations 👍
Thank You

Love the install and the pipe work it helps my OCD great Job 👍 guys
Thank You.
Nice install. Wish they were all like that. Spot on with the sections you highlighted in the manual Alan . Flues are rarely installed correctly. The rubber weathershield actually clips over the ridge in the terminal. Also the 1m of copper, rare but does happen. Can’t stress enough how important it is to get that x800 completely out of the system. Any of it left it turns the water a green colour and ruins the pumps. Can go through a pump every few days. (Talkin about you Greenheat)
Lovely Job 👍🏻 as long as you’re not swaging the gas pipe
Yeh that pipe work looks really neat. 👍🏻
Thank you.
Love your videos, so informative and honest
yeah i love the swaging....to look at and as a great old school efficiency method I was taught it at college
Not for me nowadays though tbh to much hassle, in terms of fit for purpose I've seen mains water with swaging on it for decades
Great install tho John !
Welcome to tarn. Good video Allen 👍🏼
Thank You
Very nice job 👍
theres no way I'd be trying this, but I will be watching my guy to make sure he does the install right
He can probably do it right without you watching him
Hi Allen
I watched this video and it came to the part where john was connecting up his pipework. He prefers swaging his pipes rather than applying fittings, be they Endex, Yorkys, push fit, or the crimp type you use.
Myself I would go for swaging first. The reason for this is not just economy. By swaging which does look very neat indeed, it also reduces the chance of a possible leak by up to 50%. Obviously teeing and reducing would need fittings (hence up to 50%)but, a much neater look and a lesser likelihood of leaks is obtained by swaging. :-)
Leon Hill John has converted to press now 😂
I like the ideal boilers good value and 10 years warranty only thing i do different now is use press fit fittings with the REMS compression tool makes the job look really neat and no messes round
Thanks.
Every day is a school day we the blank in the flue cheers pal
Thanks.
Takes pride in an installation. Swaging though🤔. I’ve installed air conditioning and I have swaging kits for the imperial sized pipes but hadn’t considered it for heating installations, but the neatness of this job would make it a consideration. Great vid👍
Thank You
Cracking boiler installation!! Good to see.
Thanks
I use to love the sueding tool at LCB but could never find one at any of the merchants, a fellow plumber found one for me a couple of month ago and gave me it as a gift;)
Great video Allen!!
Thank you.
Allen Hart love the new van aswell!! Did you get the one with autopilot? Are you going to board out the back for your tools??
Apparently the swaging tool is prohibited by some authorities now. Best to check with your building inspector. The expansion of the pipe narrows the copper wall thickness at the joint. That's why it cannot be used on new water or gas installations!
Good installation good boiler. Good video👍
Thanks.
Great job lads fair play rather solder fittings myself but watch to out own 👍
Amazing install! Standard setter! 👊🏼
Thank You.
Cheers lads, Can I ask what is the maximum you can bend the condensate pipe? Can you bend a 90 for example. I started my apprenticeship in 1983 and you still never stop learning. Keep up the good work and don't stop sharing the love !!
Thanks very much for your comment, please consider subscribing to support the channel 🙂
You should fill the boiler with dimineralised water by a special filter to protect it more instead of a dose of corrosion inhibiter.good job.
Interesting point but then the boiler would have no warranty. Thanks.
This is why you pay a fair amount of money for a heating engineer.
I was told some years ago at my gas Safe refresher that you were not allowed to expand the pipe anymore as it causes weaknesses in the pipe.
Yup, it thins the copper so shouldn't be used on gas
I'm not saying your wrong, but on that theory, you shouldn't use a pipe bender either as this also thins and weakens the copper.
@@craigwatson7692 tests show the burst strength of bent copper is more than straight lengths, theory being the inner edge of the bend is compressing the copper (to increase strength) and stretching on the outer edge of the bend. Swaging works differently as it stretches from all directions of the radial copper pipe, with no compression taking place compared to bending, hence why bending is allowed :)
Wow fantastic job
I like this job ❤
Lovely neat install ~ great job well done 👍🏻
Thank you
Bending 21.5 mm condense pipe is genial. Why nobody told me in college?
I agree, i have never done it before this video.
another great vid thank u lads good job ,
Glad you enjoyed it
Beautiful bro 😎 👏👏👏
You left a tesla in Bolton! You were brave.
Top notch mate
Thank You
Lovely install, proper job that, can’t stand those boilers though 🤦🏻♂️
Thanks for the comment.
Hope that Ideal is better than mine, 7 year warranty on it which was needed as the amount of problems with it. To be fair Ideal fixed every one including the last one which was the heat exchanger!
10 year warranty on this one. The system was fully flushed so the heat exchanger should last. Thanks.
Really tidy work. 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
That's very neat, top job 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Super job Al as always. Pipe work looks pukka
Thank you.
Allen, prefer your crimping fittings to solder, especially those pipe expanding things. Quicker and they look neat enough. The soldered pipe was neat enough though.
Press is better for me but John does amazing work. Thanks.
Good install them shock arresters are good idea good install
Thanks.
@@AllenHart999 another great video
Nice van
Thank you.
Still use my swageing tool on all my jobs, what's not to like? Checked with gas safe many years ago, and it's fine. Can't see any reason it wouldn't be.
Thank You
Why change all pipe work and should you have flushed system before installing boiler.
If the boiler was ther why did all the pipework have to come out and the board all nice but not necessary you could be prising yourself out of a job with extra work .i do understand about making it look neat and i use a socket tool not seen the one you have were did you get it from thanks
Appreciate your comment, I always do this on the job. It looks better and it makes it easier for me personally.
It's around £25 for a sheet of plywood and with the off cut I use it to cover the old floor because we all know they are battered and broken boards.
When the customer pops their heads in they can see I've taken my time and not only cleaned then system, I've tried to tidy things up.
You wouldn't believe the amount of times a customer as complimented my work not just the boiler but the way I've tidied the whole cupboard up.
They are the jobs that the customers want doing but dont like doing lol.
I'll crack on this way as it works for me.
Like I say, thanks for the comment though.
Ps, the swaging tool is from Amazon 👍
@@powney13 yes i do understand i like to do the best job i can but the domestic game is cut throat and every day you go out you see a new van so when im prising i keep it to what i neen to do but i suppose you could offer the extra bits if you get the job.thats why i liked commercial work years ago when dad was working we did a lot of barrel work in the schools and hospitals allways used the best materials and any copperwork was with brass clips and Yorkshire fittings the good old days luckly only got a few years todo now and these days i pick and chose my jobs i install a lot of Worcester boilers i know Allen doesn't like them but i find them good and no real issues with the amount i have installed all the best Regards Lee
i do like nice straight pipework but it can be a battle convincing a customer to pay for the extra work sometimes. i would have like to have seen him installing the vertical flue.
I couldn’t stay any longer but he will do a great job. Thanks.
I was working on my own today nigel whilst Allen was recording.
The vertical flue was the last job.....I struggled on my own I'm not going to lie 😥🤣
@@powney13 Did you manage to get finished? Thanks.
@@AllenHart999 got home at 19.45.
Thanks for attending today Allen. 👍
Could you do a video on how to seal a flue through the roof correctly?
I will try in the future.
I think it is OK, but i have always considered mounting a boiler on a flammable surface as bad practice. I alway insist on plasterboard layer over the plywood. I am a joiner though and am told i think too much 😮 I am very impressed with the swaging, never seen that before. It looks super nice. But i'll stick to end feed fittings as i have enough tools for my joinery.
Plaster board is worse unless it’s plastered 😂
Is there a ideal heat only boiler with a stainless steel heat exchanger.
No, The heat only is aluminium. Thanks.
Thanks Allen.
Hi Allen.....great videos...and all that ..but I've been an toolmaker most of my life...and i bought a valient boiler...them ideal boilers look cheep are cheep ..honestly what's better a valient or an ideal 🤔
Hi, I have an Ideal boiler 15 kw for a three storey with about 11 radiators. I got terrible bangs at the motorised valve for heating in one zone when the heating is turned on. I wonder is the circulator in the boiler too powerful for the house? Not sure if I need a special slow close motorised valve or an arrestor or can I can just slow down the pump.
Hi Allen I might be mistaken but was it during the early days of Combi boilers that the Flue could stick out at any length Especially in flats plus I have removed a few flues from Vaillant and Potterton boilers that was exposed however the inside plastic section where the gasses plume through was cracked and split yet the outside of the Flue was in perfect condition 🤔
do you need to earth all pipes together
John did everything right. Except fit a decent boiler.!
Can't please everyone Peter 👍
@@powney13 should definitely be trying to please your customers though.will need new heat exchanger soon enough.
@@shavenhaven6869 last year I fitted near 100 boilers
the year before 60-70
Year before that around 50 ish.
This year around 40 so far.
260 boilers installed in under 4 years.
I've had 4 call backs all on the vogue. Not 1 on the logic.
I'll carry on fitting them until they cause me and my customers grief.
Every boiler had different faults, each installer to their own.
I've had 4 problems with them
I agree. The worst thing I find with the logics is the service cost. The seal replacement kits are £50 and unless your just sticking your probe in the flue, you will end up replacing the seals, at least on every logic I've touched they've need replacing. Compare that to a baxi 600/800, the burner seal doesnt need changing unless it looks distorted and even if it does, so long as it's under warranty, baxi will send you a free one. So you've got 2 boilers with similar prices and warranties, one has a stainless steel heat ex, brass components and cheap service costs, the other has a heat ex which is no stronger than a tin can, plastic components and costs twice as much to service properly, which one you going to choose?
Nice installation very neat on the pipework , I’m not sure if you’re supposed to have a gas pipe swaged ??also nice to see all joints soldered as personally I’m not going to use press fittings as we all know what happens to O-rings when they get old
They always get hard and brittle and deteriorate, I wouldn’t trust them at all
Thank you for the opinion.
very very good install .. roughly whats the damage on this install .. ??
Give John a call for pricing. Thanks
As a consumer I would never employ anyone who only has a mobile phone number on their van or in their adverts. Ideally I want to see a home/office number and address. Swage joints look great by the way. Great job. I live down south and haven’t had one plumber come to our property who hasn’t had a bad leak, and the workmanship is poor, so that shows my theory on phone numbers is nonsense I guess.
I understand your point of view with the phone number. Personally i only have a mobile now as there is no point paying for a landline number. Thanks.
Are you guys in the UK allowed to use viega gas press fittings?
We can use Gas fittings.
Fancy popping down to Cornwall next week. ? Was hoping the camera would show the fire break through the ceiling, what did he use ? Very neat job.
I couldn't stay any longer as it was getting late. I left him finishing off. Thanks.
I was of the understanding that you shouldn’t swage gas pipe!?
Same here. I tried to search up about it but couldn't find anything
Nah you shouldn’t it’s not classed as a proper gas fitting
Yes you can it’s in 6891 7.2
@@anthonycannon740 I thought that you can not alter or adapt a fitting to be used for gas. So with that in mind surely a swaged socket is not a suitable fitting. I was told when I did my CCNI that was the case but will stand corrected if its wrong.
The fitting must be a purpose made fitting. Where the fitting must not be damaged bent or not purpose of use.
Should it be fire protected ply behind the boiler?
Tasty plumber

great vid, if you were called to install a boiler but the customer was not willing to agree to power flush the system before hand , would you agree to the install ? even tho by default this would make the warranty invalid (I assume) and would you make note of this on the commisioning documents
I wouldn’t work for a customer that doesn’t want the job done correctly
I have just had this boiler fitted the condensation pipe on the outside of the house should this have protection on it as it is now it is just the pipe
The pipe outside will normally need protection. Please check out the installation Instructions. Thanks.
I'm not convinced swaging copper pipe for gas is an appropriate fitting. It does look very nice on the wet side though.
Thank You
Hi Allen I am surprised to see you are still using a hand pipe tool to cut copper pipes. Do they not Have a fitting you could add to the your pipe crimping drill to cut pipes.?? I bet you often scrape your knuckles against the wall or other pipes get in the way. Has there been some attempts to make a battery copper pipe cutter but just don’t do the job well.???
Thank You
in ontario canada we use pex fittings
Thanks.
Hi Allen I don’t think you can stretch the gas pipe to make a joint you must use fittings?
Thanks.

Nice, what size ply and screws you use? do the screw go through the ply into the wall ?
Hi Allen
I feel so stupid as after repressurising the boiler i’ve got no water coming from the hot taps. Have I accidentally switched off a valve? 😞So appreciate your help
i am guessing you have left the tap off that feeds the hot water. Very common

Dear Mr Heart
I just wanted to ask you opinion on wether it makes financial sense installing a heat pump if your refurbishing a property and installing underfloor heating or should i go for a boiler?
Shouldn’t the filling loop be removable flexible?

Hi, I have this boiler in my home. I have turned off the black valve of the far left underneath the boiler and it is now stuck and won't turn back on (the valve is stuck). Is there a reason for this and is there anything I can do to turn it back to where it was. Also, what problems would be caused if it is left turned off? Thanks
Which valve is stuck?
@@AllenHart999 It was the black one on the far left. I have managed to turn it back up right now and the issue is solved. I just don't think I was pushing hard enough lol. Thanks anyway.
Are you guys situated in Newcastle upon Tyne?
How much roughly cost boiler + install for a semi detached 3 rooms/living room and sitting area ?
We got a pretty unjustified quote like close to £4900 😭
Our boiler is 70% or lower working and needs replacing as I speak but definitely not the price above .
