In the early 1980’s as a young F-15 flight test engineer for McAir, I supported our Chief Test Pilot, Pat Henry, when he flew his practice flights in F-15C #468 at Whitman Field in preparation for the Paris Airshow (or was it Farnborough?). One of my tasks was to download from the jet the audio/video tape recording of the HUD view for his review as Mr. Henry performed the demonstrations. His timing, precision, and running commentary that was recorded during the flights was just incredible as he polished the routine at the very highest level of professionalism. Awe inspiring stuff. 👏

best afterburner story of mine was at the drag strip, jet funny cars on the line (i was invited by one of the drivers), they blip the burner to push up to the start line and the announcer was saying it was the first time in over 6 years they didnt destroy a window in the timing tower off to the side of the startup area doing that, every blip you feel the heat instantly, and a not inconsiderable hit to the chest, but the top fuel cars punch the chest harder and accelerate harder despite the jet cars having retired fighter jet motors in them

Neo, so sad you flamed out and lost the Eagle. Do you think that would have happened in real life or a software malfunction.
Good question I thought the negative G limit was 30 seconds but I was pushing pretty hard so could be pilot error…check out part 2 ad 3 coming soon!

We have an air show coming labor day I cannot wait, I already told my friend I'm takin her daughter if she wanna go she can, 2 ospreys is all I know so far. Hoping f15, f22 f35, would b so epic but I'll take whatever can't wait. This just gets me excited

Did you ever encounter a ‘Cutch’ during your time in? Viper driver. Not sure how much exposure to that community you had given you were an F-15 driver but flew F-16Cs
I can imagine that after flying these incredible aircraft in the military, leaving the military and never being able to fly something anywhere close to as amazing as an F16, F15, F18, etc. again would be depressing.

Seems like every video I watch you end up ejecting. I thought after the third injection you have to retire due to spinal compression.

Why did your plane just randomly turn off? Was that by design??
No I think it had to do with the negative G’s…there is a 0 G limit on the F-15E but I think it’s 30 seconds so it shouldn’t have shut off in that’s case…but I have been wrong once before 😆
Okay so it turns out it’s a 10 second limitation for negative G’s! This is why the blue angels have specialized fuel/oil pumps
In real life, can the F-15E fly with a single pilot?
