  • Royal National Park Coastal Walk is one of the best walks in Sydney; a bushwalk along with one of the most pristine stretches of Sydney coastline. The Coast Track can be done as a long day walk or a more leisurely but still challenging overnighter. You will pass Wedding Cake Rock, Figure 8 Pools, and multiple pristine beaches. Be amazed by the coastal wall of cliffs and sandstone. If you are lucky, you can glance at the stunning whale that constantly patrolling on the coast, and if you're lucky to see the elusive Megalo, the white whale.

My first camp was in the Royal National Park, slept in the back of Dad's station wagon. Then next two trips we hiked down to Curracurang beach. That was 1973. Back then you needed a permit to camp in the national park but you could camp anywhere you liked. Now you need a permit, pay a fee and if they catch you camping anywhere but the designated corrals you get hammered. I stay out of them and camp in State Forests but these are getting handed over to the NPWS! So mostly I stealth camp wherever I want (not private property) and don;t get caught.

I totally agree with you. The restrictions now are getting harder, probably due to a handful of people disrespecting the beautiful park.
