Been working on cars since I was in my teens but I always research before working on anything now. Video straight to the point and have some good pointers. Thank you!
I had to remove the ignition boot closest to the alternator because I couldn’t get my big hand around the rear plug to remove it. Also there was a grounding bracket right Infront of the serpentine tensioner bolt, removed a 10mm bolt to move it out the way. My wife’s car is a 2012 Pilot EX-L, hope that helps others too.

This video was 100% correct. Took an hour from start to finish for me only because I had to fight with the spacer in the lower alternator bracket. Was smooth otherwise.
Be ready to pull a greasy pig of an alternator out if your engine has had the spool valve oil leak in the past. And you probably had the leak at one time if you are replacing the alternator.

I’m really struggling with the lower bracket rn, I’m actually doing the timing belt too and so far this has been my biggest time suck idk why it won’t go in, IVV literally done this job before

Always remove the battery negative terminal first before attempting to loosen any of the bolts on the alternator..

Thank you for this video, gave me the confidence to do it all myself. I did run into a known issue with these Pilots as my alternator was covered in dirty oil. The new alternator came with a tag stating that the warranty is void if there is a front rocker arm oil valve leak. I noticed an oil leak after the last time I had changed my oil but hadn't figured out the cause, hopefully this was the issue. As I had everything opened up, I bought a new valve and got that replaced as well. Here is a link to the instructions. There is also a UA-camr that posted a video of how to replace it as well. Mostly pulling off the front wire harness to gain access then its an easy 3 bolts. And you only have to change the top with plate and seals.

me =- a mechanic , find it very comendable that you are able to change valves !!! well is says you bought a new valve and got that replaced - i wonder who did the valve and what was the cost ..

@@ohioedde it was the variable timing solenoid that I replaced. I already had it opened up, just had to unplug all the wire harnesses and mount to access it. I was about $100 from CarParts. Many other sites had the whole thing and the bottom was recommended to be thrown away but the one I bought was only to top section with the plate and seals.
