I always have a declutter tote in my closet. Whenever I decide that I no longer need something, I’ll just put it in the tote. Once it’s full, I bring it to my flea market space. If you don’t have a flea market space, just donate the tote. Either way, the items go out of the house.
I love the positivity! It IS just "stuff," it IS "stuff" that WILL get back to the spots where it's been given a home, and giving yourself that grace and understanding is exactly the way to approach the situation!
I live near San Francisco. As a kid I learned that by the time the Golden Gate Bridge was painted from one end to the other it was time to start again. It’s never finished! I think of decluttering this way. It’s more of a cycle than a finished product ❤
For the sinus congestion and headaches at night, have you checked the humidity levels in your bedroom? My husband had the same issues until we started using a humidifier at night in the bedroom as the air gets really dry here in winter. Love your content!
I have been struggling with hoarding for years, paper is my biggest issue, followed by clothes, and craft supplies, if no one shows you the way, you keep everything. I've been decluttering loads, then slipping, I recently discovered I'm also ADHD I found you a little while ago, but rediscovered you recently 😁 I am also a butterfly. I have read Marie condo and started to try that, boy did I get in a mess, although I made £90. Taking my clothes to the weigh in, I have been searching for inspiration on UA-cam for years, but nothing I tried worked. I am 58 and live alone. Now I watch you and declutter along with you, quite amazed at how everything you say makes sense suddenly and I am so grateful for all your videos, I felt that I wanted to let you know how much you are helping me, and to say we'll done for coming this far in your own journey. You are such an inspiration 🤗
Well done on going back and clearing that area again. It looked so much better. I think part of the problem is you are still acquiring too much stuff, even if you are not buying it for yourself, you are still allowing it all to come in and then stay in your home. I think you need to learn to say no to excessive numbers of gifts and tell people around you that you want them to not give you so many things in future. Also, you should try adopting a more regular routine for tidying. Perhaps try adopting a five minute blitz tidy in each of the main rooms (kitchen, lounge, bathroom and bedroom) before bed every night. If you do just those four rooms it would only take 20 minutes total and you can get quite a bit of light tidying done in five minutes. Then once a week vacuum and mop all the floors, your boys could do some of that for you and it would teach them the maintenance habits too.
That looks so great!!! Here's a tip to make drawers in a dresser open and close more easily: take the drawers all the way out, and rub the runners with wax paper, also rub the tracks with wax paper, then they open and close more easily, and it makes opening and closing them feel more relaxing and fun. Thank you for sharing your progress, I find you so motivating, and am cheering you on!
Another great video! I've been here since the start, I have hoarding tendencies I've been working on for years and I've been working on my buying habits for years too. I'm actually better with not buying than I am with hoarding because it takes me so long to part with something I am very careful with what I buy. I've also asked people not to gift me as much either. Close friends and family all know this about me. Giving and receiving objects as gifts that we don't really need, actually takes up a lot of mental space and many people are happy to be relieved of that pressure. There are other ways of showing love. I love your progress and your honesty, you've come along way but still have room for improvement and are revisiting areas, very inspiring. I remember the first time you konmaried those draws, your clothes had no room, the draws were stuffed! Much better now! There's lots of helpful tips in the comments as well that many of us can benefit from, your kindness has inspired a lot of people, that's a pretty special gift you've given to a lot of people.
Being someone with ADHD I always have had to re declutter spaces. I also have clutterbuck blindness until something really frustrated and then I am like "oh, I should probably deal with that...." But then at that stage it's overwhelming so I avoid it until it becomes even more overwhelming. But it always f els better after I over haul it. Definitely be kind and don't feel guilty about that. I have definitely been inconsistent with maintenance. I'm consistently inconsistent. 😏 Giving yourself grace is always the best. I do all the time. 😉
I have been following you for 2 years now. This month I started watching your videos from the very beginning. I finished the first year you were on UA-cam. And let me tell you, your growth and your self awareness and discovery is huge. You have helped me so much understand and be gentle with myself and my mother. My new saying that I make into a song is " don't place it down put it away" thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing and welcoming in to your life. Love you so much, keep being strong and beautiful.
I love how quick it was to declutter this time compared to previous rounds. It was like it was surface clutter. Quick to deal with and not demanding a lot of complex decisions. Mostly things to put away. Did you also notice that a lot of the things had homes this time? And that those homes showed signs of being organized so you know where things go? You are getting there. Just go back to the Flylady. Look up where they are and fall in as if you were never gone. That's the beauty of the system.
Using your organization method is really helping you clean up. More of your things have a home now. You are not the only one who hoped decluttering once would be the end of it. My messes keep coming back also.
I remember when it took her a number of sessions to tidy these spaces that she's handled in this video, I think her process is speeding up each time, it might be the same for yourself without you realising it. I've been decluttering for a few years now and I know I get through more cleaning in less time than I did when I started.
Yer bedroom is looking great and all the changes you’ve made are really working. Well done 👏 You always give me home that I can do it too. Have a fantastic weekend. Mary, Joes wife 🙇♀️👏👍💪🙏💐🐈🦄
I am so impressed with how well you are recovering and healing from your hoarding disorder! I also love your transparency and honesty. I watch the Hoarders tv shows occasionally and it seems like such a hopeless disorder. It's nice to know that it can be overcome and there is hope. Not that I'm trying to downplay how much work I'm sure you've done and are still doing! I wish they would make a more hopeful reality show of people like you. You are strong and are doing a great job!
MCG Spare - there is a BBC show Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners which I find very inspiring - each episode is a very moving story of an OCD person who wants to overcome their OCD being matched with someone whose home is very cluttered and out of control who needs help to change and both sides make great progress. Also I find the BBC hoarders show much less sensationalist than the US ones - several are hoasted by a woman whose mother had hoarding disorder and she is very kind to the hoarders the show works with.
Gotta love that "onion layer" decluttering. Cas? Dawn? Both? Can't remember who talks about that. It's taken 2ish years, but I think my family is down to a level that it's primarily maintenance. See an area getting built back up, go in declutter it again and keep it maintained. Just like mowing the grass. We could simplify a bit more, especially in the kids stuff, but they aren't ready for that. It doesn't help the house we're in is a bit small for us, but making it work.
You're doing an amazing job!! 🎉🎉 I have to declutter constantly, even without hoarding disorder. Some of it is because my father recently passed away and I inherited a lot of things, but I think that some is just because of.....life. It's encouraging to see that You're giving yourself grace as you continue your journey. ❤️
I’ve said this before, but it’s worth another mention…. I am so impressed with your progress. I’m blown away more and more with every video!! I know you will never be finished decluttering, because it truly is never ending but I can’t wait for the day that you’ve gone through everything.. absolutely love you!!
Well done 🎉🎉🎉 You being kind to yourself reminds me to be kind to myself because I forget that bit a lot for myself 😊😊 I like how you kindly meet yourself where you are with no harsh judgements. That really is the only true and pure thought we should hold about ourselves when we are changing our habits for the better. Congratulations the cleared space looks and feels great 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Eucalyptus essential oil can help to get rid of dust mites! That might be a nice thing to diffuse in your bedroom on a nice day with the windows open to get rid of some of those guys. I’m not, however, sure how safe it is to diffuse with a cat in the house, so I’d check on that first and maybe keep pepper out of that room for the day.
Exactly. Besides a lifetime of behaviors to rework, things are going to change and you're going to change or grow cause that's just life. Cleaning, tidying and decluttering are never "done". I find it helpful to look at it as a tool or skill than a destination you hang your hat on and stop.
Looks great 👍 gifts given to me are my biggest challenge. My friends know that I have dehoarded my home. So I regift or ask for useable products. This is just a declutter video but for some reason it's making me cry 😭❤ ... I'm actually exactly like you :') 90s kid who valued their items and toys so much ... Every item has a connecting and add I traveled a lot they were the part of me I would keep. I bought some VERY old toys the other day, including a tamagotchi, dragon eggs, scoobydoos etc ... And I'm 30 😅 ... Hoarding I tell ya ❤ :') I'm working on it. Your videos give me so much energy for it ❤
Hello from Germany and hi miss heart and miow pepper. Good job, I declutter for more than 10 years,1-2 times a year.... in the last 4 years 3-4 a year!!!the last year 6-7 times... Keep the ball rolling..... And be proud of you.
I love watching your progress! You are doing such a fantastic job! I do not have a problem with hoarding. And yet, your videos encourage me! 😊 Thank you!
for your sinuses - I recommend Nasaline sinus syringe - you fill it with warm water and a bit of salt (I use distilled water). the syringe wears out but I got replacement no=brand syringe and just put on the nasaline soft silicone tip. Also, wash your bed pillow often to remove dust and dust mites. For vacuuming - a water filtration vacuum will clean the air - I have an old (but professionally refurbished) rainbow d series water filtration vacuum - it cleans your air while vacuuming the rug - it sucks everything through its tank of water so NOTHING escapes. Kalorik also makes a water filtration vacuum - I have not tried it but it is about $120.
I am in love with the "tossy tossy pile" wording! I still don't want them around but they are and now I don't have to feel so bad about them, just take care of them. ❤️❤️❤️
I love how you alway point out that you won't declutter your children's or your husbands stuff. I have seen a lot of videos where people would just go through their kids stuff and throw it away instead of doing the process with them or just sorting into categories so the kids can decide what to do with it.
I have a front porch which doesn't get used as cold in the winter and too hot in the summer I keep boxes for donations to leave the house. By cleaning and saying goodbye to excess possessions you are practicing self-care so think of it as self-care. I try to give the bedroom a clean at least once a month. It can get dusty and my husband has allergies and snores at night.
No wonder it builds up again you are so busy giving to others from November to January there’s no time for you! I’m trialling a half hour Sunday reset to keep on top of things like meal plans, things I need for the week ahead and dusting one room to make it easier on my asthma, especially having kitties makes it worse but so worth it. Love your work xx
I admire you for recognizing your problem and doing everything to overcome it. Getting rid of things when someone is a hoarder is very hard. Really, I admire your will power. Thanks for sharing.👍🏻
How pretty! Trash pickup was this morning, did a Goodwill drop off for son. Decluttering can be a part of your daily routine , just take ten minutes!!!
You are doing so well with decluttering and perhaps it is time to shift a bit more time to maintaining. Maybe if you straighten up a different room each day for a half hour, the amount of build up will not accumulate. Sunday: kitchen hot spot areas, Monday: your bathroom, Tuesday: other bathrooms, Wednesday: your bedroom, Thursday: laundry area, Friday: living room, Saturday: choose your own declutter adventure or make up from an area missed the prior week or a hot spot area. This helps get the house more manageable and it’s not a big clean up that can take 2-3 hours once a month or every two months. Just an idea. Keep up the good work!!!!
consider emptying under the bed, wash sheets weekly and put duvet and pillows on the line, preferably into the direct sunlight, also weekly and shake them. it should help with dust sensitivity. Of course dusting and mopping weekly too. I dust my nightstand every morning after making the bed too.Your consistency is amazing!
I have found for myself that if it takes more than two actions to put an item away, I tend to not put it away. For example opening a drawer, then placing it into a bin. That is two actions... easy. But if I have a lid on the bin which would make it three actions I will not put the item away. Strange I know but I have found that two actions work for me. Thanks for your videos and sharing your life with us, we appreciate you more than you know!
Wow, look how fast you did that! 👏👏👏🥳🦄 Thank you for all of the inspiration and encouragement! You’ve made amazing progress since you started! And everyone’s messes come back - it’s the nature of life. We get a little busy and the tidying slides. Things slow down and we catch up again. I find having a morning and evening routine as advised in Flylady (unload dishwasher, make beds in morning, load dishwasher, do any hand wash dishes, tidy kitchen in evening) keeps the house up pretty well. In addition, I try to do one housekeeping task on the same day of the week each day except Sunday (tidy and dust, clean bathrooms, vacuum, wash floors, do laundry) if a housekeeping task doesn’t get done this week, I try hard to get it done next week. If a task isn’t finished, I pick up where I left off. My faux-flylady system might not suit you - use whatever system works best for you!
Hello my friend! I was wondering if you could email me at hoardersheart@gmail.com? I would love to send you something as a very special thank you ❤️🙏🏼❤️
I can't wait to see the kids' toys declutter with the kids! It's always good to give toys away as soon as they are not being played with anymore before they start being "sentimental " and get harder to give away.
I have followed you for almost all the time you have been here. It is so soothing and inspiring to watch your videos. I do have one piece of advice:. Try to not purchase/acquire so much stuff from now on. I know that is a different issue but it would be so peaceful if you stopped bringing more items into your home. One need a lot less than one thinks. There will always be stuff to buy and the stores will be open tomorrow One item in - one item out - is a really healthy saying. Try it. I bet your bedroom won't get bad again.
The crazy thing is, I have been bringing in way less than precious years from my No Spend Challenges!! Lol, A lot of things are gifts (thank you gifts for helping people, holidays, birthday) swag bags from events and bringing things home to Declutter from my storage bin! We’re making adjustments in those areas too 🦄🌟💜🙏🏼💞 It’s just crazy how much still manages to come into your home! Thank you for your great advice my dear friend!!!
That's great advice to give someone WHO DOESN'T HAVE HOARDING DISORDER. If you are neurodivergent and have ADHD or OCD, it requires a different approach.
@@ahoardersheart Decluttering is a constant process in any household, needs change, circumstances vary, things become less relevant but still useful, one thing in and one thing out is not always a solution to the issue. Keeping on top of what is essential, what is sometimes necessary and what can be discarded in some way takes a lot of time and attention that isn't available when you have children and work to deal with. I find your no-spend challenges and recycling processes absolutely inspiring, but there are no simple cut and dried answers to managing hoarding, it's a mammoth physical and emotional challenge. I have so much admiration for the way you are dealing with it.
If you want a sexy bedroom...make sure to remove toys so it looks adultlike and not childlike and try to keep things picked up as best as you can. Bring in some flowers to make it more cheerful. 😉
@@ahoardersheart I'm fine, I'm on my first ski trip ever and my son has my old ski clothes from the 90s. They are bright yellow, red and purple... :) Sometimes it's fun to make use of the old stuff instead of just feeling nostalgic. I mean, when it's possible! :)
I really feel like if you could get in the habit of putting things away and throwing trash away, you wouldn’t have to declutter the same spaces over so often and it would be easier to clean and maintain. It appears as though it’s more of your ADHD than your hoarding that’s causing the messes at this point.
👏👏👏💗 you should get fly lady duster with, it makes dusting baseboards, under bed above door very east & you can shake outside and even put in wash in needed. & and its purple! :)
I tidy my bedroom the other day, made such a difference and last night I dusted my living room. It's hard trying to keep things tidy but I keep trying. When my sons were here my house was clean and tidy.
I always have a declutter tote in my closet. Whenever I decide that I no longer need something, I’ll just put it in the tote. Once it’s full, I bring it to my flea market space. If you don’t have a flea market space, just donate the tote. Either way, the items go out of the house.

I just found f your channel amazing I liove your thought process it really resonates with me thank you a thousand times ❤
If two bins of clothing has been sitting untouched for several weeks, you can probably let go of all of those items.
You're doing amazingly! Love to see your continued progress😍
I love how you alway point out that you won't declutter your children's or your husbands stuff. I have seen a lot of videos where people would just go through their kids stuff and throw it away instead of doing the process with them or just sorting into categories so the kids can decide what to do with it.
I have a front porch which doesn't get used as cold in the winter and too hot in the summer
I keep boxes for donations to leave the house. By cleaning and saying goodbye to excess possessions you are practicing self-care so think of it as self-care. I try to give the bedroom a clean at least once a month. It can get dusty and my husband has allergies and snores at night.
Great job 😊❤️
I wonder if you haven’t used those clothes since back in January do you really need them
Your clothes are so much fun! Encourages me to add more fun colours to mine ❤️🔥 also jealous of your leggings 😊 I don’t have enough!
U have come so far I hope u never give up because this is a life journey.
I am so proud of your progress and good attitude. I am so glad that you mentioned wearing a face mask for dust.
How often do you declutter? Do you declutter daily? Once a week? ECT. I find I get so overwhelmed with it often, especially the clutter.
What is your vacuum. I need a great wood floor vacuum
I admire you for recognizing your problem and doing everything to overcome it. Getting rid of things when someone is a hoarder is very hard. Really, I admire your will power. Thanks for sharing.👍🏻
💕💟💗💟💕❣️
Fantastic job beautiful lady congratulations 💜🦄
As long as you’re trying your a success, and you are a wonderful example! Love you and have a great day ❤
with all respect i think your cat its giving you alergies and the congestion check that out
How pretty! Trash pickup was this morning, did a Goodwill drop off for son. Decluttering can be a part of your daily routine , just take ten minutes!!!
What basic method do you use to declutter?
I can't keep a momentum cleaning going
I do the 5 minute pick up per room each day. Most rooms are reset and no clutter within five.
consider emptying under the bed, wash sheets weekly and put duvet and pillows on the line, preferably into the direct sunlight, also weekly and shake them. it should help with dust sensitivity. Of course dusting and mopping weekly too. I dust my nightstand every morning after making the bed too.Your consistency is amazing!
Such great advice my friend!!! Thank you for sharing 🦄💜🌟🙏🏼
Absolutely!!! I say it has to be under 2 steps too!! Anything over that, it’s not going to be completed, my mind is already too far ahead!! lol
Great video as always 👍
Great job!
Great job! 💖
Your positivity is contagious, thank you for being you and for sharing your journey with us
Great job!
❤❤❤😊
Impressive
I never stop being amazed at how great you are doing!👏👍👊! Keep up the magnificent work!
I love ❤ Joyce Meyer as well😇
Yesss! I enjoys her books and messages 💞🙏🏼💞🙏🏼
@@ahoardersheart Absolutely my fave televangelist😇 Have read all her books and, once, was able to attend one of her conferences in person🥰
❤✨…. I love your honesty… you are helping me so much too Declutter!❤️✨👍

🦄 cheering you on as always.
Thank you so so much my dearest friend 🦄🌟💜🙏🏼
Happy Days! 💞
Thank you so so much my friend 🦄🌟💜🙏🏼💞
There will always be stuff to buy and the stores will be open tomorrow
One item in - one item out - is a really healthy saying. Try it. I bet your bedroom won't get bad again.
If you watch back through previous episodes, you'll see what a difference your advice can make!
You are doing amazing. Highly recommend the organised mum for a cleaning schedule. X
♥️
♥️❤️💗
Well done. Still loving that you contain your tossy tossy pile.
I'm going to watch while I walk. Yay!
You are doing great!! Lots of love!
Thank you so so much my dearest friend!!! How are you doing?
@@ahoardersheart I'm fine, I'm on my first ski trip ever and my son has my old ski clothes from the 90s. They are bright yellow, red and purple... :) Sometimes it's fun to make use of the old stuff instead of just feeling nostalgic. I mean, when it's possible! :)
You're doing an amazing job!!
I really feel like if you could get in the habit of putting things away and throwing trash away, you wouldn’t have to declutter the same spaces over so often and it would be easier to clean and maintain. It appears as though it’s more of your ADHD than your hoarding that’s causing the messes at this point.
Looks fabulous!
Much better ❤ great job
👏👏👏💗 you should get fly lady duster with, it makes dusting baseboards, under bed above door very east & you can shake outside and even put in wash in needed. & and its purple! :)
Ohhhhh, thank you so so much!! I gotta look this up for sure 🙏🏼🦄🌟💜
@@ahoardersheart PS. i've had it for 5 yrs and still looks as good as the day i bought it. :)
Loved it!!!!
I tidy my bedroom the other day, made such a difference and last night I dusted my living room. It's hard trying to keep things tidy but I keep trying. When my sons were here my house was clean and tidy.
I know you are doing amazing my friend!!! Love it 🦄🌟💜🙏🏼💞
