Generally I don't like covers over the original, but when I heard this when it was released all those years ago, I definitely appreciated this version. The Band's version just feels empty and not enough emotion in it. There are a lot of Barnes songs that his voice does justice to, which were usually done by him and Cold Chisel, and some of his covers I wasn't a fan of. This though, the differences between the softer but clear singing and Barnes' gravelly and rough pronunciation in his singing style really complement the hell out of eachother on this song. I will admit I have conflicts between the Cold Chisel and Solo eras of Barnsey, with the Cold Chisel era totally kicking arse in my opinion, but this is one of his best collaborations.
Nicely done Barnsey and The Badloves. Damn, you should change that... Barnsey and The Badloves, I'd totally be buying a ticket for that tour! :)
I totally don't agree with you on that. The Band is much better musically and vocally.
@@littlemissblackdress7587 :) I agree with you that they are a much better band by far in general, I'm not that much of a Cold Chisel to even pretend to argue that point. I just think this is a more solid bit of music, that, and when I was younger growing up in Ipswich when the Brisbane Bears still existed, they played it a lot on radio and it grew on me a hell of a lot!
