  • Printed on January 16, 1985. Not to be confused with the later Hanna-Barbera series of this title, this is a compilation of adventures had by the superpowered, crime-fighting teddy bear.
    Walt Disney Home Video #751V
    NOTES:
    a. This tape was distributed by Walt Disney Telecommunications and Non-Theatrical Company.
    b. This tape uses a custom label.
    COMMENT: Yes, this is a real Disney tape. This fact surprised me when I bought it as much as it will surprise you when you see it, especially since this is not a cartoon Disney made (it is a Welsh cartoon produced-and originally broadcast-on S4C and later aired on BBC1 in an English dub). The only reason I can think of for Disney releasing a tape of this show is because it aired in America on the (then-premium) Disney Channel. This is also, until further notice, the only Neon Mickey tape I will upload in full to UA-cam as most British cartoons aren't particularly hard on UA-cam's Content ID system.
    VIDEO CONTENT RATING: GENERAL.
    Contents:
    FBI Warning: "Federal law provides severe civil and criminal penalties for the unauthorized reproduction, distribution or exhibition of copyrighted motion pictures, video tapes or video discs. Criminal copyright infringement is investigated by the FBI and may constitute a felony with a maximum penalty of up to five years in prison and/or a $250,000 fine."
    Text: "Licensed for private home exhibition only. Any public performance, copying or other use is strictly prohibited. All other rights reserved."
    Logo: Walt Disney Home Video
    Title card
    Cartoons:
    a. SuperTed and Nuts in Space
    b. SuperTed and the City of the Dead
    c. SuperTed at Creepy Castle
    d. SuperTed on Planet Spot
    e. SuperTed at the Funfair
    f. SuperTed and the Gold Mine
    [This tape does not contain the "Walt Disney and You" promo; trust me, my finding of this tape was already surprising enough without that being anywhere on it.-Ed.]

    We Americans ought to be lucky we had the original series on home video (and The Disney Channel were I saw these on).

    That’s actually pretty strange how Disney out of all places got the rights to put out superted on vhs
    Usually cartoons like these on vhs are usually distributed by either kartes video communications, good times home video, family home entertainment, celebrity’s just for kids, strand home video, and even paramount home entertainment had their own cartoon releases (especially mr magoo and yogi bear)
    Fox had their cartoon tapes as well through playhouse video (that label released some cbs story break vhs tapes back in the early 90s)
    That fact that Disney (one of the biggest companies out there) got the rights for vhs releases of super Ted is astounding

      Well give Disney credit for picking this up and not some small-time operation.

      This is probably because SuperTed aired on Disney Channel in the USA

      Weird how Paramount released Yogi Bear on VHS when it should have been Worldvision Home Video who did it

    Curious that this one does not end with the Walt Disney and You promo at all. Strange for a Disney VHS release from this time period.

    If the Americans never bothered to re-dub the original British series of "SuperTed", then *why* did bother doing it for the sequel series? 🤔🙄

    Huh. Never mind the fact that Disney is distributing SuperTed, but the fact how the episodes play at a lower pitch. By the way, think you’ll ever do the Hanna-Barbera series or not?

      I haven't come across a tape of it. Once I get a new VCR, I might think about it. In the meantime, I hope you're enjoying the transfers of VHS tapes from DVD-Rs I made of them over the years.
      As for the low audio pitch . . . I'm assuming the film prints that Disney got from S4C were natively recorded at 25 FPS and were run through a 23.97 FPS film chain.

    • @tristanmichels5721
      @tristanmichels5721 2 роки тому +2

      @@jessecoffey4737 Those prints were also the ones they used when it aired on Disney Channel(which was called The Disney Channel back then) in 1984. They probably also had to convert them from it's original PAL speed to NTSC speed as well.

    • @ChristopherSobieniak
      @ChristopherSobieniak Рік тому

      That lower pitch is a limitation of transferring these film prints at 24 frames per second instead of 25, as these are NTSC transfers (where video is 30 fps). The UK used PAL and did these at 25.

    • @ChristopherSobieniak
      @ChristopherSobieniak Рік тому

      @@jessecoffey4737 I'm sure these were filmed for PAL back home. The problem here is NTSC being what it is, and the films were transferred at our framerate. This was normal back then, I'm sure the sane happened with American shows seen in PAL countries having a faster pitch. The way to correct this was to convert the video masters themselves, but at the cost of lagged, ghosting of frames. I used to see a lot of British TV that way.

      @@jessecoffey4737 In the digital age, I'm sure this is solved much better than where it was in the analog days. I'm just impressed I can watch live UK TV on my US TV via IPTV. The days of needing to convert these things are a thing of the past.

    Can you digitized religious commercials from EWTN and other religious channels?
