I've always been a big fan of the Space kits. I currently have this one, the Mercury Atlas launch pad diorama, the Monogram Saturn V, The Monogram Command and Service module, the Monogram First moon landing, several of the old Revell missile kits, (Nike Ajax and Nike Hercules) the Corporal missile, the Explorer satellite and more. Finally got my hands on the 1/24th scale Gemini Capsule and am looking for the 1/12th scale Mercury one.
Wayne, Sounds like a great collection! -Doug
I got one of these in my stash.

Very nice change of pace. This kit looks really nice, even with the flash and fitment issues. This definitely a kit I want to build someday. Thanks for sharing.

Wilt, Glad you enjoyed it! -Doug
Thank you for doing this! I really enjoyed it. It is certainly a departure from the cars you normally do. I built this kit when it was first released in the mid 60's and still have them. I also have the more recent release you have there. I was really into the space program when I was a kid and thought this kit was just awesome! It was a little over my head at the time but really didn't turn out too bad. Your video inspires me to build the recent release I have in my stash. If you would like to see an actual Gemini capsule may I suggest you visit the Gus Grissom memorial located in Spring Mill State Park near Grissom's home town of Mitchell, Indiana. They have the actual "Molly Brown" capsule he flew on display.

An artist's conception of the prototype Gemini landing has it suspended beneath a large paraglider. Don't know if NASA ever conducted tests of that configuration.
Velo, I don't recall one, but a lot of things went on during the prototype phase that weren't made public. Thanks for sharing, and please subscribe if you haven't already, to help us continue our mission to inspire more modelers! -Doug
