Appreciate the shout-out, brother! My day wasn't anywhere near as good as yours. Stoked you guys found fish for the guided trip and, as always, it was great to see ya!
Great to see you too bro. Miss you 😘🥲😜
@@KambotroutFishing You gonna make me cry.
@@CareAgainFishinglol
I speak for the whole 302 when I say this man lol.. You Are A GOAT! Your visuals and words: are Highly Appreciated
Thanks for the kind words brother! That means I gotta talk a little smack with my buddy/teammate Rodney over there at TightLinez302Fishing tho 😏
@KambotroutFishing awe man, no disrespect😂 anybody who has that 'Passion for Snakeheads, I gotta respect em. Ima check him out👍
Looked like a great day in my book!!
These were my first topwater Snakehead of 2024 and were in tight cover: my favorite combo. Had a blast! Looking forward to going back, but tomorrow is a whole different kind of snakehead fishing down in VA.
Planning to be in bed by 9PM for a 1AM wake up lol
Oh boy I feel ya on that. I'm looking forward to do some snakehead fishing when I come up to visit friends and family in July
Great video
Yeah every fish I miss is a Dragon too
And Butch… quite hat’in on the Da Bass!!
Thanks Stu. Butch ain’t gonna stop tho lol
Wow found a snakehead video in the same exact body of water I got skunked on today 😂😂
lol. They are some mercurial, temperamental fish
@@KambotroutFishing yeah they are. I also know I’m being way too loud being a new kayak angler.and I feel like I’m spooking them by bombing my top water in. And also retrieving/working it way too fast . I’ve been watching your videos the last few weeks your a huge help 🤙🏻
Happy to help. Was it windy out there today?
@@KambotroutFishing wind was dead… until the I put the yak in the water. I Tried to hide from it and fished some swim baits.
I pulled a ton a snakehead out of that particular body of water!
Nice vid👍🏾
Thanks brother! I’ve had some of my best days at this place, especially for numbers
Just got back from eastern shore tough bite high winds high water and thunder storms still managed to get some snakeheads looks like you guys got in to them good 🔥🔥 hope to get a video out this week.
Wind and high water - dirty words in snakehead fishing! Looking forward to the vid brother 👊
This video helped me a lot! I never realized I was reeling in too quick and that could possibly explain all of my skunk days. I will be practicing the twitch twitch pause method the next time I go out on my kayak!
Good luck, Cayla! I hope the changeup in retrieve gets some more strikes and fish for you 🎣
Blackwater is heaven I’m only a short hour drive from it thankfully pocomoke river does pretty well too
I love both areas. The Pocomoke is going to be insane once the snakeheads are really established there. Wouldn’t surprise me at all to see that river producing the new state records in a decade or so.
Dinner is served 🍱 👏🏾 very cool trip
Fish tacos already been had too 😏
@@KambotroutFishing 🤤
Bro knew the channel just commented on another. I appreciate how you describe your technique. Just subbed and gonna keep watching. Gonna try black water hard this year for my first snake.
Blackwater is a beautiful area. Unlike any other.
Cool video brother 🎉🎉🎉 I need to go back to that place is awesome Snakehead Heaven🎉🎉🎉
Thanks brother! If I lived closer to that river (instead of 2-hours away) I’m not sure I’d fish anywhere else. Great fishing for so many species there.
@@KambotroutFishing Same for me brother 2 hours Tight Lines and Keep up the great work.
@@lapasionporlapescalikewise 🙏👊
There’s Some big ones in there bro it’s worth the trip back for sure
Brother if I lived closer instead of 2 hours away, I’d hardly fish anywhere else. I love that river
I love your videos. Hi, I am Danish from India Cuttack Orissa. Yeah, we can’t afford boat for Fishing. So we fish snakehead fish from the bank of a river or lake or a pond. Please make some videos of Bank Fishing. That will be a great help to us. Thanks.
Hello and thanks for watching and the kind words!
I have a fair amount of bank fishing videos if you haven’t seen them yet. Checkout my “bank fishing” playlist. I’ll try to do some more of those kinds of videos at some new locations I’ve had in mind for a while.
Nice
Thanks brother. My first topwater trip of 2024. I love em on topwater anywhere, but the reward of precision casts in cover like this and stalking those fish here is like no other place for me.
Where can I get one of those little white mice you were using
You can order them from Infamous Fishing by contacting him at: facebook.com/InfamousFishing?mibextid=LQQJ4d
Or you may be able to find some over at Edgemere Bait and Tackle in Sparrows Point as well 👍
How did you find a day with no wind??? Great job broski!
Oh it was windy after around 11AM, but I keep this river in my back pocket for windy days because of all the trees along the shorelines. Wind usually can’t get to me on at least 20-60 percent of the water 😎
Pause pause pause boom 💥
Damn right 💯🔥
I agree that smaller snakes do more damage to lures. Seems like the smaller snakes have sharper teeth
They shred my lures next to the bigger ones. Bigger ones will bend and break metal, but the rubber is at the mercy of the little guys
Do u think a number 5 musky killer mepps is too big for snakehead or at least I should cut and shortern ome of the crazy hair on it? Lol
It’s not too big but shortening the hair is a good idea. I’ve caught them on it and so have many others.
Clarification, you leave a frog in their area if you spook them? I'll leave the lure in the area after a short strikes and they often come back, But I figure when you spook them its game over for at least 15 min if not more.
Yes, I’ll leave it even when I spook them. Doesn’t work as often as it does with short strikes, but if you leave it for 5-20 seconds, I’d say it works at least 10-20 percent of the time.
I did exactly that with the second Snakehead I caught in the video 👍
Just did some snakehead fishing this week and saw 2 snakehead. I put my frog over both of their heads and they didn’t even try to eat it at all. Why is this?
The Snakehead are beginning to pair up and are engaging in their courtship rituals. Once they begin that process, they essentially do not eat anything until they’ve laid the eggs, guarded the fry for 4 to 5 weeks, and then abandoned those Fry.
Next time someone tries to tell you that Snakehead are voracious monsters that eat everything and bite things just to kill it, your experience Snakehead fishing will inform you otherwise 😏
14:07 "cut The Show, I'm done" 😂
😂😂
We’re are you fishing
Maryland’s Eastern shore, Dorchester County
You weren’t throwing the snakeheads back were you? Please tell me you killed them
Legal requirements on Snakehead vary by state, but in most cases, you’re allowed to release them immediately after catching them back into the waters in which you caught them. That’s the case in MD, DE, and VA (this was in MD).
It’s usually only illegal to possess live snakehead or to transport live snakehead (which makes good sense in my opinion).
I often harvest them, but it usually depends on whether or not I have room in the freezer or know someone who wants them.
They’re the best tasting fish in freshwater and have an excellent meat to body ratio. They’re also easy to filet, so if I need meat or know someone who does, I’ll often keep them.
With that said, I’ll release them if I don’t have a need to harvest. Many people take an issue with this because they’re labeled as an invasive species, and most fisheries managers do highly encourage their harvest.
The peer-reviewed and published science thus far has not shown invasive impact. I’ve actually done an interview series with John Odenkirk, a VDGIF fisheries biologist, in which we review the most recent science and legal requirements on the species (link below if you’re interested).
ua-cam.com/video/lceYaOj8P9M/v-deo.html
Still, invasive impact sometimes takes several decades to manifest, so if someone does harvest intensely, I understand their position.
My personal opinion is that the degree of their impact will depend on the waters involved. In uniformly shallow waters with no established large predatory species (like Blackwater), they’ll likely have more of an impact (though I do think their impact is overblown and the snakehead scapegoated for our own impact).
In deeper waters though, they’ll likely have less of an impact, especially when those deeper waters have large, established predatory fish.
For me, they’re an admirable species, excellent parents, and incredible sportfish.
Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
At what water temp do you guys stop leaving snakehead in the water on a stringer and put them in the cooler instead
Usually with water temps above mid 70s
