I own the ‘63 Colony Park that was 2 cars down from Jerry’s Montery at the IMOA show last month. The car is more stunning in person than on video. And Jerry was one heck of a nice fellow! Thanks for sharing Dennis and it was nice meeting you😊
Love the ‘60 Mercs. My Mom had ‘60 Commuter in dark blue. HUGE vehicle! Love the ‘63 Meteor and ‘63 Colony Park next to it as well. Thanks for this and all of your great features/clips/interviews!
"Plain Jane" but a beauty. Shibumi. Dennis, the cars are wonderful, but what is so great about your shows as much as the cars, are the owners! Thanks for showcasing these folks who love the classics and keep 'em rolling. Cheers!
I purchased from a local wrecking yard back around 1986 a 312 Y-block removed from a 1962 Mercury that was being parted out that also sported the same light blue factory painted valve covers. The featured car brings back some great memories including the very cool rear bumper styling around the tail lights.
My dad had the four-door version of this exact car, same colour inside and out, back when I was in grade school. Remember it well. Remember also that we got rid of it because it was too wide for my mom to park lol. They don't make them like that anymore but what a gem of an antique!
Dennis, Dennis - mid-sized car? This was a full size Merc and one of the wider cars on the market that year! 1959-60 Mercs were appreciably bigger than their Ford counterparts and was as big as an Electra or Olds 98. JFK had a 60 Park Lane. This was the last time Merc had a full size that was truly unique vs. Ford. Ironically, when they came back starting in 64, after McNamara demoted it to barely above Ford for 61, Mercury gradually achieved its greatest success as a luxury upper middle car, but never again with its own unique body.
* When I was a kid my dad worked for Ford. An engineer. In 62 he brought home a 60 Colony Park Ambulance. Where he got it I don't know. It was complete. Red bubble 🚨 light, fender siren, even the gurney ! Which I got to sleep in a few times. My mom drove it (complaining) for a year and a half then he ordered our 64 Galaxy Country Sedan wagon. 390 cu in 4bbl with trailer package. White with red interior.👊😎👍
Nice car & thanks for the memory ! My Dad bought a new 1960 Monterey 4 door new in Philadelphia in the same colour but a Mercomatic.. I remember the dealer had to put in Power Steering & it was a $78 extra including Labour😉! I was 14.
A 4100 pound car with 205 gross horsepower, a 3-speed manual transmission, manual steering, manual brakes, no air conditioning, and goes 0 to 60 in 11 seconds would be laughed right off the showroom floor today.
Beautiful Mercury! Really unique design and styling! Better looking than many other Ford products of that time. But I love the 1960 Ford Galaxie design too, especially the Starliner 2-door hardtop.
Nice to meet another Jerald with a "J". Your '60 Merc is beautiful. When I was a kid of 12, our next door neighbor bought the same model new in Tuxedo Black.
I know John, Big M in Williams California which is actually 60 miles north of Sacramento. Yes, he deals with Mercury's, but he also has other makes including Plymouth's. He owns a 57 Fury that was painted in red. Boy is he good at finding cars or many times they actually really find him. He has tons of good cars for parts & sells some of the cars themselves too.
That Merc may be a heavy car, I don't doubt that, but if I could handle my old '63 Falcon Econoline at 4,900 pounds, I can miracle whip the roads in YOUR car! An extremely rare gem, I wish you every good luck with it.
It's interesting that the so-called " greenhouse" on these cars was an attempt to copy the GM 1959-60 " flat- top" designs. I believe that windshield, top and back- glass were exclusive to the Mercury line for ' 59 and '60. I don't think it was shared with the Ford.
Lovely car that didn't look like any other car, not even another FoMoCo. 40 years ago, assuming it was filmed in car show season 2024 means that was 1984 so the car was already 24 years old
..god knows i try to like the design of this car, loving the over the top designs of this era, but.... (I do enjoy the fact guys out there responsibly restore these pieces of Americana !)
Beautiful old Mercury!!! Honest Abe couldn't get elected in the United States today unfortunately....., he's wasn't corrupt, he wasn't a millionaire and he didn't have his own superpac!
Those shoe insole taillights tell a story. And the 312 I would think gave the MPG you wouldn't ever get in the Montclair and Park Lane models. '61 would be all new, more muted Ford based design. The facelifted grille on the '61s would be nevertheless similar to 1960. But the "Onesole Insole" taillights, in children's story speak, were replaced by a Chevy inspired six pack set-up, except for the bottom line Meteors, that instead had wide half square Pontiac influenced units.
The car looks fantastic, thanks for showing.
What a beautiful car. The restoration is very good and the owner's story is a good one.
What a great car! My first car was a 1958 Mercury Monterey. That was 170 cars ago.
Back when Fords and Mercurys were distinctly different in appearance and standard features. I love the ‘60 Mercury taillights.
Exactly. I couldn't agree more.

What a beautiful restoration. Fantastic job!
Well done Jerry ! Thanks for sharing it with us Dennis.
I love how the owner appreciates that car; given his age relative to that of the car
That is a cool car. I love the way the front and back windshields rap around the front and back.
Big visibility from all that fun house glass. Cool find and purposeful editing.
I love the interior! The color, material, everything!😎👍

What was the VIN number?
Love the color
That dashboard clock couldn't be any further away from the driver 🤣
"Plain Jane" but a beauty. Shibumi.

Great story, great car!!
I dig the reference to the mercury blues song. Cruze up and down this road.

Beautiful.
Spectacular Mercury 😍

So beautiful my mustached friend
If you didn’t know this was the base model 99% of people wouldn’t know. I love the dressed up ones too.
Gorgeous!!
Great video!
Thanks for publishing!
Thank you Dennis.
My car only dreams of squealing the tires 😂 instant like

Im gonna buy me a mercury and cruise it up and down the road
THANK YOU SO MUCH. I LOVE MY LINCOLN FAMILY!!!!
Crazy bout a Mercury!
It's amazing how the bottom of the line car then is better than the top of the line now

You done started back doin those things you used to do lol!😉👍
never seen one of these before nice back when cars had style
Rolling art.
I had one of these in ‘69. Was a great car.
Beautiful Mercury! Really unique design and styling! Better looking than many other Ford products of that time. But I love the 1960 Ford Galaxie design too, especially the Starliner 2-door hardtop.
Beautiful motorcar.🥰yes I can tell its base model with big lack of bells and whistles, the high end side of the catalog had? It’s a Y block.
Nice to meet another Jerald with a "J". Your '60 Merc is beautiful. When I was a kid of 12, our next door neighbor bought the same model new in Tuxedo Black.
Dig that car
Favorite mercury
Looks great 👍

Fascinating the gap between the front headlights... there would be room to put a 5th and 6th one
The Y-block was"de-tuned" by 1960. With a two bbl. carb it made less than 200 hp.
What a beauty I love it congrats wonderful restore .🥰🇺🇲👏
Cool!
That is one cool car!
WHAT a beautiful car. Three on the tree, the preferred transmission.
Cool ride 🇺🇸

Allan Jackson is crazy about a Mercury too!;)
Sweet car!
Is that 312 a Y block??
🎥👀🏁
Fantastic car!
What's the brown car beside it called? 1:34
Why can't we have colors when we order a new car. So tired of grey, silver, black, white , red and navy. WTF?

Make a nice sleeper, custom mod

For a plane Jane car, it sure is beautiful. Windshield looks very GM, what gives? Anyone have an answer?
Greenhouse treatment was featured for 1959-60. Likely GM inspired I would think.
I want to see one of those as a lowrider. 😁
