When first married, we had a '56 Salmon/white Oldsmobile Holiday 98 2 doors hardtop coupe with 325 V8 engine. We bought it for $75 in 1975. In 11 years, the only problem was the generator brushes had worn out. We sold the car for $1500 and bought a new Dodge customized camper van.
Beautiful 55 Olds. We had one when I got my license in 64 and I ran into the back of a pickup the first week, breaking the "world" in the front of the hood and knocked out a headlight. I did my own patch job on it. Believe it was a 324ci.
I’m just an automotive guy that can appreciate just about any build. I don’t care what kinda canvas an artist would use as long as they’re passionate about their art & make it look great. Of course, there’s also auto-hack jobs out there too.
Agreed! I first saw that color 40yrs ago in a Car Craft magazine. It was called House of Colors Brandywine and it was on a 64' Ranchero Panel named "Tabasco Truckin" that was handicap adapted with hand controls by the owner. I fell in love with that color and the car, as I had become a quadriplegic the year before. My unfinished 34' Ford 5 window sat in my garage and I always wanted to have finished that project and paint it that exact color. It never happened. But, today, I can now see what that exact color looks like on that body - thanks to this video. God bless you, Dennis!
Used Subaru360s became dirt cheap pretty quickly. Someone took advantage of that and set some up to run the motocross track at Orange County International Raceway. I find it hard to believe that hundreds of them have survived.
Dennis' enthusiasm, knowledge and positive demeanor make watching his posts a weekly must-see. Dennis, you are truly an American car culture icon! Cheers.
You joked that "they had to give them away" regarding the Subaru 360. That is actually true. I test drove this car in the LA area at a domestic dealer (I forget which brand) who had taken on the Subaru franchise. These cars were the worst. After test driving it, my friend and I got back into his '62 VW beetle and felt like we were piloting a limousine. Within a year of its introduction, the dealer, stuck with a bunch of these 360s, was offering them free with the purchase of a loaded full size domestic vehicle.
Japanese kei car regs in 1969 called for just 360cc max engine capacity and to make the most of the limited power most kei cars had four speed gearboxes
I think it has to do something with the engine size, its considered more of a motorcycle type vehicle , but dont quote me on that. Micro cars were able to dance around certain legal restrictions. Plus i dont think suicide doors were ever made illegal they just became impractical.

The 33 coupe looked pretty slick, just nice…. But open the hood and then that car got real exciting 🤠💃🏼🕺🏻
These car show videos keep me going through the long, cold winter.
Always a great show

This show always have the wildest car ! 💯👍
❤ 360 subaru
Back in the late sixties/early seventies Domino's Pizza in Gainesvile Florida had a fleet of those 2 stroke Subarus for delivery vehicles!
That Subaru is my dream car.
Not a Chevy fan, but that Chevy Carry All is simply amazing. Even in full original Chevy hit a home run with that imo.
Don’t fight it. Come on over to GM.
@@dukeallen432 Oh, hell no/never.

Subaru's first import car? wow
Yeah. It wasn't until 1971 that Subaru launched the Leone which was sold in the NADM as the DL/GL and Loyale until 1993
If Dennis hasn’t seen it before you know it’s rare. Very cool subie 360
Malcolm Bricklin imported those first Subaru's. I think they had a van version of those too.
That '33 Ford is a gorgeous color...it must be a blast to drive with that engine :)

I love these car videos. I had a teacher that had one.
Another great video Dennis. The '55 Olds is awesome!
Love the Subaru 360. I'd never fit in it, but I'd love to try
At least on Long Island, the Subaru 360 was so unpopular that my local dealer was offering "buy one get one free" to get rid of them.
Great video for a snowy day in NYC
Beautiful Olds❤ heck they are all Beautiful 😍
Tks for sharing, great lookin place

Thanks so much! I truly appreciate your comment, and thanks for watching!
Thanks Dennis.❤
That would be a 324ci V8 in 1955 Dennis; our V-8 torque monster of choice in the late '50s for our hot rods and street "sleepers"
Great selection. Great episode. Great camera.
Awesome video! Thanks!
There's a '65 Chevy Carryall not far from where I live, but it's a 283 V8 from the factory. The truck is nicely restored correctly.
The '64 CarryAll only weights about 4500 pounds. I have a '66 K10 long bed that weights 4100 pounds.

Malcolm Bricklin was the importer for the Subaru 360
If I remember correctly John Brickland was the first to imported the Subarus, and his last were the Yugos.
His name is Malcolm Bricklin, subsequently brought the Bricklin SV-1 safety car to market followed by the Yugo.
$1297 in ‘69 money? Close to $12,000 dollars today. Still a bargain
Very cool!!!!! 👍👍

You can tell all of the owners of these cars love talking to someone as knowledgeable as Dennis. Their pride of ownership is almost palpable!
OMG!...Mr. Dennis...would all of this reflect a miss-spent childhood...?
Probably
You had me thinking I woke up a day late. (ha ha)
A friend of mine had one for about 6 months, there wasn't a straight panel on it.
🎉
¡Awesome!
I believe I heard that Malcolm Brooklyn was the first importer of these cars
It’s actually “Bricklin”, but yes.
The 55 Olds would not have come with the 303. "55 was the 2nd year for the 324 ci Olds Rocket.
That Subaru looks like the Nissan Juke
No. The Datsun Joke kinda sorta looks like a Subie 360.
Not bad ⚡️
5.3 l with a 6.0 l engine cover?
My dumb ass would try to sit in it backwards.
Wut?? That Subaru?? Suicide doors were legal in '69? How could that be?
