The first year, 1960 Ford Falcon was underpowered, with its 144 six cylinder engine. For 1961, the optional 170 six cylinder fixed that problem, if the buyer opted to buy it. The 170 engine was a much better engine in power and design, with more main bearings supporting the crankshaft. The Ford Falcon was the basis for the Fairlane , the Comet, the Mustang, the Cougar, the Torino and the Granada.
Also a Falcon van, the Sprint GT and a little Diddy called the Maverick with it's many variants, you could get a Maverick station wagon in Brazil in 1971.
My dad drove his 1963 Plymouth Belvedere till the late 1970's, it had a slant 6 and 3 speed on the column shifter and used as a daily driver year round till the winter salt finally made it unsafe to drive, he loved it because it was simple with nothing to break, no power steering or brakes, no air conditioning, when the junk yard came and towed it away, I thought I saw a tear in his eye as he watched the wrecker hooking his car up then disappear from view with his car unceremoniously on the hook behind as it drove away, then he walked back to the house a little slower than usual
I have seen 2 metallic pink 4 door Studebaker Larks with factory supercharged 289 V8 engines- Positive traction rear ends, and 4 speed manual transmissions. Mom got a grocery getter, Dad got his Hot Rod.
I would love to have a 1960s ford falcon ranchero just add the under dash AC and I would be happy no power steering needed with a 3 on the tree and the 170 six .
Chevrolet biscane wagon 6 and 3 on the tree few opts maybe a am Manuel tune radio dog dish up caps no a/c than a impala wagon power steering, brakes ,327 v8 ,automatic ,a/c ,white walls , wheel covers ,luggage rack
It seems odd that rich people couldn't afford one or two of these...
they'd be afraid of the social stigma at the golf club .LO

Decent cars for the dollars. Get educated.
Back in about 1964, I think, Elvis Presley had bought his young live-in girlfriend Priscilla, a Corvaire as a graduation present!
Lord the same monologue over and over !
Written by Kamala Harris.😂
I didn't finish the video,for the repeating
A little bit of research would have told you that Studebaker Lark NEVER had unit-body construction.
True.- it was a reworked version of their old cars - strictly Body-on-frame.
[ but nicely done].

The Studebaker styling was great and a big engine like in Hollywood movies looked great and Buju Bantons Driver song made them look so cool.
We had cortina in uk

My '65 Plymouth Belvedere II witj a 318 engine and auto trans cost me $2,395. No radio or a/c, but I added those later.
Hmm - lots of images of V8's throughout this while caption or voiceover spells out and inline 4 or 6
The Dodge Darth offered several Trim Levels:
Dodge Darth Sidious
Dodge Darth Vader
Dodge Darth Maul
Well done
I have a 62 S series and it still turns heads whenever I drive it
The 1960s Ford Falcon and Plymouth Valiant with the inline 6 cylinder engines were reliable American made cars.
This is great for the uninformed who want to learn nothing. 😊
CORTINA IS BRITISH
Did it ever occur to this genius that people bought these as a second car or a first car for a child?????
You had forgotten the Buick Opel Olympia!
Didn't you mean Opel Kadett.
Sad to say that rolls royce didn't make an affordable car were low income family can able to buy...
The Valiant was a separate brand in its first year. It became the Plymouth Valiant in 1961.

The cheapest car's were usually the cheapest and most dependable to restore because the lesser their is the lesser their is to go rong ?...
I"ll bet the black paint job on the Falcon cost more than the car did new! nice job.

Lower Income excuse me
Corvair reliabel 😂😂😂😂
0:28 Trump unsafe at any speed 😳
Corvair was a piece of junk! Glenn
They were notorious for leaking oil. The Falcon was a much better car.
@@collinsje5Even the Valiant was a better car too especially after it was restyled in the late 60s,
@@glennso47 agree
