The STUPIDEST COMMENT in Carolina Panthers HISTORY | Panthers @ Redskins (2001)

  • Prior to a 2001 game at FedEx Field between the Washington Redskins and the Carolina Panthers, Panthers safety Mike Minter was asked about Redskins WR Rod Gardner, and responded by giving an answer saying that he had no idea who he was. Turns out, that bulletin board material was enough for Gardner to have one of the best games by any receiver in franchise history. This is the story behind some of the stupidest trash talk in the history of the Carolina Panthers

Hey Jaguar, you should cover Ethan Horton's story. He was the guy Drafted the pick before Jerry Rice. He was a Massive bust in Kansas City and got cut after a year, signed by the Raiders but only played 4 games before being released. He went back to North Carolina to be a Athletic Counselor, then Al Davis called him to come back to the Raiders but switch to Tight End and it lead him to his only pro bowl

Can you do a video on the panthers trading TWO first round picks for DT Sean Gilbert. He played a couple years for them after and they gave up two picks in loaded draft classes. One of the craziest trades that’s never talked about

That 45% catch percentage isn't good, but the 16 yards per catch helped. His average yards per target was 7.3, which is okay-ish. So it evened out.
The next season, Gardner actually had 1000 yards. It took him 141 targets to do it, but he did have 1000 yards. It should also be noted that his QB for his rookie year was Tony Banks, and the 1000 yard season was the year that Steve Spurrier decided that the best way to make his offense work in the NFL would be to sign basically every Florida QB that nobody else wanted and then split the starts between three different QBs.

He also signed other Gators. So, Gardner had to beat out the likes of Chris Doering, Willie Jackson, and Jacquez Green. 😆

All real Panthers fans would sound OFF SAM MILLS! Mike was great for the franchise. He went through the rough and played on the high end towards his escape. Carolina had many great defenders. Just no offense to keep them rested in between three and outs.

This isn't the stupidest comment in Panthers history. In 1998 after losing to Atlanta, Wesley Walls said " this is embarrassing, we're better than them, we know we're better than them." Carolina would lose again to Atlanta and finish 4-12 while the Falcons went 14-2 and lost the Superbowl.

I think it's best to be respectful (as a coach, Joe Gibbs practiced that method all the time, and I bet it took the pressure of his players), but some of these players are so buoyant (or full of themselves, or both) that they end up making it personal, which, in turn, makes things more difficult for the individual and the team.
