- This video is not a hoax! You can do these glitches (and much more) on your own. There are different ways to break the game:
1. Cycle Trick
Use debug mode to go right until the character appears at the left side of the map. After that If you go up or down the game will produce glitches at certain coordinates. If you go left this state will reset.
2. Death Trick
Use debug mode after killing the character. Go around the whole map in death state. Stop at specific place and quit death state. After that If you go up or down the game will produce glitches at certain coordinates. If you go left this state will reset.
3. Combine Cycle Trick and Death Trick - Ігри
I went into this video thinking "HA I've probably pulled all of these"
That was quickly shot down the moment I saw the Launch Base Act 2 cutscene taking place in goddamn *_ICE CAP_*
I didn't even know you could get the game to do that, the game was out for over 2 decades, yet new glitches are always being found.

Wait that means you can skip launch base and on the no lock on version you'll instantly win.

+tristan wrong, the sonic 3 cart actually stores level data from some levels of s&k so what i supose would happen is you would be teleported to a early version of mushroom hill, as early version of s&k levels are present in the game rom ATLEAST in the betas, including one of the betas being the s3 levels finished but s&k not

Also further supported by the architecture of the platform that does not care for „illegal memory access“. It will just use whatever data it finds there.

Useful tip: If you stuck at the Knuckles cutscene at the Angel Island and screenlock won't come off, you just can place a spring and launch Sonic up and then Hydrocity will load. Since game uses unsigned values, going higher that the upper boundary means that Sonic is actually goes deeply down, where Hydrocity launching collision is placed. You can even try to do this in Bombship sequence, since entire boss arena has this collision, and only screenlocks prevents to trigger it accidentally.
I did not know that. That's very interesting. I'll check it out next time I have the chance.

I always love seeing what chaos and mayhem will be unleashed when debug mode is enabled
Debug is a simple developper tool used to test stuff more efficiently in-game. It wasn't programmed with functionnality in mind, so these bugs are not even tested.
Yet sega deliberately left it in their games, as it added something to them that people could find and play around with. And he knows this, it was just for fun.
that explains why theres so much unstablility and randomness happening even when waiting and exploring certain sections of the map

and so, Sonic destroyed the death egg without Tails.
Robotnik went to get Tails with his clone, but, this wasn't the smartest idea because the Death Egg was now un-guarded. That means the Sonic went and hit the self-destruct button.
I'm still trying to workout how he got Launch Base Zone's boss into Ice Cap...
Screw that, how did he break the glowing balls bonus stage...
I knew Sonic 3 & Knuckles could be broken, but damn, not like this
The glowing balls stage is simply just going as far to the right and you can and when the screen bugs out you go left and if you go up and down it glitches
I thought I knew everything about debug mode; but I had no idea you could do things like trigger events and bosses from entirely different zones. That's funny :)
And then you somehow triggered the blue spheres minigame that usually only pops up when you plug sonic 1 into it, further blowing my mind... sorry, commenting as I watch the video. :)

When I saw the Mushroom Hill zone, I saw the intro cutscene and when Super Sonic bumped Tails, it changed into a WHOLE DIFFERENT ZONE. Sounds like a stupid glitch if you ask me.

The way you did that glitch at 4:27, was like a TIME TRASSTERFY from other time periods falling through other times of the game.
Awww man, I absolutely LOVED debug glitches back in the day, I had so much free time, I could watch them for HOURS. I tried some of them out, always got crashes, so yeah... I have never seen the ones in this video though (except for the bonus stage, the Sandopolis and the usage of the tricks)! And I thought that lava reef act 2.5 and the 50 to 60 hertz switch were the worst ones.
Out of all the Sonic games and debug modes, this game must have had the most chaotic debug mode, the debug mode here seems to be a punishment as well, it causes a loot of errors and corruptions, even using it normally fells extremelly glitchy

Debug options are not intentional secrets. They are used to test features. The devs often leave them in on accident, rarely intended for consumers to find. Some probably think it's fun to leave in, but it's primary purpose remains to test features.

I'm actually hoping so, since the remakes of Sonic CD and Sonic 1 & 2 all have debug codes, plus Sonic Mania is using the same Retro Engine used by those remakes.

The best debug glitches I've seen (not on here) is the one that crashes S3&K & turns into S&K by breaking too many S Monitors as Hyper Sonic, & the one in Ice Cap Zone Act 2 that makes the background flash green & spawns the boss in a loop if you go under a bridge,
fighting the bosses in the bonus stages sounds unironically fun

15:46 when I first did this glitch successfully (it is very precise) I pictured the greyed out characters as being dead, so I think of it as blue sphere but everyone's dead. at least it works though, meaning you don't need sonic 1 to lock on to sonic & knuckles with this glitch.
If the tails launch base boss in ice cap glitch was done in soinc 3 alone would big arms spawn or no? I'm very curious to know if it will or not and what would happen after since there's no mushroom hill would it play the end game credits?

One glitch I found was when I was playing S3&K I went into debug mode then the music cut out so I went to the main menu only to find it was now S&K
