- It's been exactly one whole year of forest fires, murder hornets, pandemics, isolations, protests, quarantines, elections, vaccines, and riots and yet here we find ourselves, back at the beginning... What would happen if I tried to explain what's happening now to the January 2020 version of myself?

And why was that relatable.
I’ve been subscribed since she did that podcast thing on UA-cam news or whatever that thing is
The most impressive part is that she can still remember enough about pre-pandemic to act like a pre-pandemic.
Ahh the before time. The long long ago.
@@travis1240 Hey! you stole my comment I was going to make! give that back you comment thief!
For reals. Starting to seem mythological to me at this point.
OR maybe WE don't remember crap from pre-pandemic, so whatever she does that's not very pandemic might feel like it could be pre-pandemic. How could you tell!?!?!?
Are you stupid or something? It's time travel. She travelled back in time. 🙄
"Are you good?"
"No. Absolutely... Not. No, irreparable damage has been done."
Perhaps the most relatable exchange in what has so far been an incredibly relatable series.
Yes, pretty much a universal exchange, at this point!
@@trinaq Definitely. In every country :( Same.
Too relatable.
I am making that my new ringtone
That hungry desperate look when she’s asking what a handshake felt like.
The most accurate part of this video is the deterioration of social skills we've all experienced as a result of isolation. Julie touching her past self's face and asking all those creepy questions was hilarious! We've truly gone insane
and people wonder why prisoners re offend and go back to jail
ive forgotten how to say high so everybody looks at me crazy when ever i try to introduce myself.
by everybody I mean my reflection and stuff animals.
Hmm.. I was kind of like that pre-pandamic, so I'm glad all you people have gone to my level. Welcome!
At first I was panicked and crying that I was forced to work throughout this entire pandemic as an essential worker...but now I'm actually a little grateful. I still go to work with the public 6 days (50 hrs) a week as usual, and then I still spend my nights with my boyfriend and my mom I live with as usual. As an essential worker and an introvert, not too much has changed in my life, besides the fact I haven't been in a restaurant or at a concert in a year.
"Are you good?"
_"No. Absolutely not. No. Irreparable damage has been done."_
Thank you for acknowledging this. These scars are going to take a long time to bury. I'm too old, and they're never going to heal. Just gotta bury them.
We shouldn't be afraid the scars. Burying them will only make them a ticking time bomb.
@@TheJrbdog So true. My brain knows that in time the scars will toughen and become valuable lessons. It's just so f--king hard to the heart to feel hope while the slow-motion knife is still mid-laceration. (proverbially... that's just an analogy)
@@andie_pants Strangely enough, learning about the Black Plague has helped me. Knowing the horrors they went through, and knowing that humanity still survived, helps me hope for the future.
I worry more about children. Imagine being 4 or 5 and living a year of your life through this.
@@timbuktu8069 The neighbor's kids have been playing tag and using Covid and active shooter instead of "it". 😥

Haha, me too, it's pretty hilarious, and the only positive side to this current disaster!
lmao imagine explaining the post-pandemic world to pandemic self
Agreed. One good thing that this pandemic brought, is this fine and easy (=not overcomplicated) use of time travel in storytelling.
Also - who would have expected that it is possible to gently evolve this story for so long, while keeping it top level perfect.

But by the time they need to give back the banana, the price of bananas went down to 10 dollars.
So the snake buyes a banana for 10 dollars and gives it to whoever they borrowed it from, earning 10 dollars in the process
That is shorting
Now the monkeys find out that the snake is doing this, so they all go out and buy bananas to drive the price up.
Now the bananas cost 30 dollars, so the snake has to pay 10 dollars more for the banana than what he sold it for, lossing money.
Replace banana with stocks, snake with rich people, and monkeys with redditors, then you get the picture.

Haha remember when December Julie was upset because she thought all this was going to be over so there'd be no more videos? Haha I'm not crying haha
Oh, December Julie. I forgot about her innocence.
...I totally blame her now. She jinxed us!
She never got visited
@@briandegitz8978 Yet (I guess)
It doesn't fucking end! December me was so hopeful too, fast forward, yesterday was two weeks after my second vaccination and I don't feel relief, I don't feel excited, I just feel numb
I can’t imagine trying to explain the pandemic to January-2020 Lauren. She’d been through a lot but this would have been insane to her.
about a year and few months ago, we all thought the Australian wildfires was the worst thing to happen; little did we know.......
"Who's in that movie?" "Matt Damon...and Queen Latifah...and millions and millions of extras..."
Less of a movie more documentary
*as themselves
Or, more succinctly, "Everybody"
You forgot to put billions and billions of more
More like millions and millions of redshirts.
...I'm not apologising.
The fact that the movie plot convinced her truly shows that life is stranger than fiction.
and she called it an "ambitious" plot. It was. 2020 was extremely ambitious.
2020 - the year that proved beyond reasonable doubt that we are all part of some elaborate Truman-Show style movie o=
I wonder what the 2021 season finale will be? o=
That Suez Canal joke was great!!!
“Too soon?” Ah, time travel jokes.
The “could you smell them when you got up close?” killed me 😂😂
"I forgot other people have body heat" - me, in a text to a friend last week.
At any other moment in history, this would have sounded incredible scary :D
ua-cam.com/video/-RAglyw6ySk/v-deo.html
This is fear mongering.
Lmao the fact that 2020 basically has it’s own movie is amazing. It’s called don’t look up and it’s on Netflix.
Yeah pretty ambitious plot, they barely had time to cover the murder hornets and resolve the forest fires and-
😭😭
Asteroids.
My Dentist actually put a glove on and gave me a handshake. He said he was sick of not shaking hands so he’s practicing “safe human touch” we both laughed, but that handshake felt really good.
There should be a trend on wearing gloves again. Still want to do that glove slap to someone, it looks so satisfying and harmless, yet humiliating and aggressive
@@DumbestDumbFool if you glove slap me I shall draw my sword.
I have two boxes of surgical gloves that I bought for dealing with chemicals but my hazmat supplies have been surprisingly useful during the pandemic.
Why does the thought of a handshake make me feel so warm on the inside 🥺
"I hugged my friends goodbye after we went to the movies"
THAT hit hard!
Imagine one second : future Julie just gave past Julie Covid. And that is how the pandemic started a year ago.
I was thinking about this! If she had the virus and passed it on...
Nope! Closed loop. Information cannot be generated from nothing. There has to be an outside source.
“So, lots of explosions?...”
“Eh, yeah, well, there was Beirut, so...”
“Oh, nice...”🙂
She forgot Portland & Seattle being "Peaceful" burnt to the ground.🤫
Actually, I had forgot about Beirut until she said that
“Oh that’s the plot of a new movie.”
The movie: 2020
And once people feared 2012 🙄
I think it might need to be a series of movies
Unfortunately it’s a documentary
And 2021 lol
That's why time travellers are supposed to stay away from fiction.
These are so well done.
Wow can’t believe a verified channel hadn’t gotten any likes yet

January 2020 seems like it was 100 years ago...literally....this s..t goes on and on and we actually forgot what it was like before.
I decided to watch these again in October 2023 and I didn't realize Suez was more than 2 years ago, the last three years have felt like a decade.
Shoutout to Kevin McCarthy, I worked at McDonald's longer than he held the speakership
December Julie: “Well, if we make another video, someone can visit me!”
April21 Julie: “I’m about to do what’s called a pro gamer move”
Poor December Julie😭 maybe December 2021 Julie will visit her instead
@@kulahog6495 Quote: "GOD NO, PLEASE NO!"
Not getting a visit must be so unsettling now.
My birthday.
Me at the beginning of the video: "Wow April 2021 Julie seems so much more put together and calm than her past selves"
Me 10 seconds later: "I'd like to rescind my previous comment"
The pandemic has become the new normal, so we're all more unhinged than ever but we've learned to conceal it.
yep but also murder hornets aren't as scary as they were last year :) they didn't even get a mention by 2021 Julie.
@@GamingAfter50 I mean they really aren't that big of a deal now but maybe thats just because nothing surprises me anymore.
@@totallynotmicah8995 I hear ya there!
Also, good use of the word "rescind"!
I have now watched the entire "series", and I am overwhelmed by this wave of brutal nostalgia.
Brutalstalgia.
I think that's what I'm gonna be calling remembering anything 2020 from now on.
POV: part 6 just came out and your re-watching them all
‘They’re gonna short it 😏😏😏😏’

INVEST IN GME PEOPLE IT'S STILL ON
It's amazing to me that she didn't have anything to say about the riots in every city in the country... Just amazing
I love these videos to bits but also the day I stop seeing these in my UA-cam recommended is the day I know peace
This video currently has one dislike. It's probably 2022 Julie.
YOU TAKE THAT BACK😣😣😂😂
"Oh, so naive"-2022 julie
I smiled at first, and then I thought about 2022... and now I am horrified!
2 now, probably 2023 Julie
It's December 2020 Julie cause she's sad she didn't get a visit.
That's how it is done. You break the 4th wall and glide back in effortlessly!
"When was the last time you hugged someone?"
Wow............... That hit me *WAY* harder than I thought it would.
In the middle of marathoning your pandemic videos and just saw the Gamestop reference. First, you’re hilarious. Second, Short Squeeze is still on the menu, so I hope you’re still in! 4:1 split on the 22nd, too!
