In today's savor salvage scent video I talk about my fascination with the many types + facts of musk fragrances, some of my favorites in my collection, those I believe are suited for hot + cold weather, I try some new to me, and share those on my want list. Those I discuss range from $5-$150 in price.

Amy!!! You're back! What an absolute delight to see your smiling face and hear about these perfumes. I am a huge, huge fan of Lovely by SJP. I use several of them at once. The oil, sheer, and then the original. It's a summer staple for me as well. We shouldn't give gifts with any expectations, but I have to admit that knowing how much you love Fleur de Mal, delights me. Thank you for the shout-out. I swear I'll be coming back soon. ✌🏻🕺🏼❤

Thanks for the shout out! I found the Monotheme perfumes to have quite a similar creamy, vanillic scent in the base of most of them - I'm thinking maybe the word I'm looking for here is buttery?! I found Jovan White Musk to have a buttery floral scent, so that body lotion texture that I like to smell but find uncomfortable to wear! I think you might like lots of the perfumes in the Monotheme range :)

Hi Amy! Born in 1973, I was burned by Musk! 😅🤣 Especially by White Musk by The Body Shop in my teens and young adult life but Narciso Rodriguez revived my love for musk a few years ago… Royal Misck by Al Haramein is one I enjoy right now…
So glad to see you, friend! Your “I was burned by musk” intro cracked me up. I know that the Body Shop musk was really beloved. I’m so sad they are closing stores. End of an era. Some of the first perfumes I wore + I still use their Satsuma products. Thx for the tip re.: Al Haramain!
I am wearing lovely today! I was on a trip with my friend and I left some fragrances out for all of us to use, and she had BBW Waikiki beach coconut body cream on, and then sprayed lovely and I was shocked how good she smelled!! I would have never layered those together Waikiki beach coconut is so strong! But lovely mellows it out.

I'm watching this the day my bottle of Mxxx arrived, after waiting until it was closer to fall to order it. The same perfumer, Antoine Lie, created another great one - Belle Ame for Les Abstraits. His dosing of animalics is perfection, except for Ma Bete, which I also am not woman enough to pull off!
Wonderful list and overview. So great to see you. I really enjoy Narciso Rodriguez Poudree; fancy makeup powder scent to me. Once in a while, I wear Chanel No. 5 and it smells like a softer Kiehl's Musk on me. I also really like Nicolai' Parfumeur's Musc Intense and Poudre de Musc Intense. Take care.

Totally agree with you on Francesca Bianchi Amy! I think I have 11 of her perfumes now, including Unspoken Musk and Sticky Fingers
This was so fun to read. Francesca Bianchi is a true original + I can’t wait to try more from her. Did you happen to listen to her video w/ UA-camr Persolaise? So interesting! Another great list! Some of my favs are Carnicure and Poudrextase by Marlou, and Musc de Sables by Les Indemodables. Must try Muscs Koublai Khan!

My favourite musk is Clair de musc by Lutens. I also like Chanel’s clean musk, like in Cristalle eau verte

I like the dark feeling almost smokey darker musks, like in Lolita Lempicka. I wish I knew which was which in each fragrance.
I'm with you on laundry musks, I can tolerate some and others absolutely not. It depends on the texture, grainier feeling musks are a no.
Gosh, I never think of Lolita Lempicka (one of my first loves) as a musk but you are spot on… *thinking*

This was fun! Great list. I'm a clean musky person. I always have some Body Shop White Musk oil to layer on.

I find musks to be a little hit or miss for me, you're right to say that there's a LOT of variety in the character it can give a scent! Among the ones you talked about, I adore Mxxx., and it is the one full-size from Eris that I splurged on. I love the ambergris and dry woodiness, almost like a dusty old church pew, and I believe it also has hyraceum (maybe responsible for the animalic quality you detect!!) I also got Antares at your suggestion, and it is so unique- on me, I almost get a spicy, cinnamon bark note in addition to a musk I can only describe as "watery". I'm adding the Jo Malone scent to my want list, I'm also a sucker for chamomile!
Some musks I own and love:
Alkemia's Bohémiens en Voyage is like warm skin lying in sunny, summer grass. BPAL (Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab) has a scent called Sed Non Satiatia ("Unsatisfied Thirst", I believe), that is a really sexy honeyed musk. Fantôme's Baba Yaga is a witchy, incensey musk while their Madame d'Espérance is a sophisticated floral musk that reminds me of warm skin fresh from a salty bath (I wear it to bed often). Olympic Orchid's Sonnet XVII has (as the poem inspiring it would suggest) a dual nature, seesawing between downright Stank and a light osmanthus-like floral. Pineward's Bindebole is like if a birch forest had a human body, I gifted my sample vial to a friend and he always smells Divine with it on. And of course, it would be remiss of me to forget Solstice Scents' White Fox, another favorite for snuggling in to bed.

Sooo great to see you! I forgot to mention White Fox-what a gem + such a unique musk. Have you tried her “White Feather” scent? I just purchased a few new-to-me things from them to try. I think she originally made this as her wedding scent.
As usual I am eating up every word of your post! I love that there is a perfume in the world that translates to “Unsatisfied Thirst.” Amazing! This is so nice to read! Thank you. Do you mind if I ask what you like to do for exercise? I have been walking a few times a week + started swimming again recently.
@@savorsalvagescent2300 I wish I was a swimmer! I try to get in 45 minutes of exercise a day. 3-4 days at the gym doing cardio (elliptical, battle ropes, rower, etc.) and strength training. On my easier days I try to walk. I am not someone who naturally enjoys exercise but I’ve been doing it consistently for two years. It has changed my life!
PS. The idea of going to a gym used to freak me out. I was set up with a neat local gym that caters to people of all backgrounds and abilities (all of our equipment can be modified for wheelchairs, for example). It’s such a warm and friendly place, free of judgement. Feeling comfortable is essential in my opinion. Oh! I’m also learning to box there, which is super cool 😀
@@Scents4em um, you are the coolest. Boxing!! I asked partly because I çan feel very out of place at the gym + I wondered what you like most. I just became a member of a local community center + the vibe feels very caring so far. But I need to do something other than the pool. This weekend I will get over that hurdle! 💛
@@savorsalvagescent2300 you can do it, Amy! I totally get the discomfort. I have always felt out of place with any gym or sporting activity (some of my most humiliating moments happened in gym class). I hope you start to feel at ease with your surroundings. The benefits of exercise are worth it.

Oh gosh, I wish Kiehl's Musk Oil was still in production. Softer, less projecting but absolute sexier version of the spray. Auric Blends Egyptian Goddess is a lovely 'skin' like musk too. Smells like sexy rubber bands :D So glad to see Noa here, she is beautiful! I like to wear her on a crisp, frosty day, but so nice all year round. I am definitely getting a bottle of Meharees to enjoy this autumn! Is it as enjoyable as MKK?
Hi there + thanks for this wonderful post. I love Meharees but it’s very different from MKK (it is supposed to be a dupe for Musc Ravageur). MKK I find to be a slightly furry musk similar to Kiehl’s, but Meharees has added + very pronounced (to me) dried fruits like dates + raisins. I used to wear an oil by Auric Blends! I think it was “rain.” Thx for this tip + reminder!

Thanks for listening + for your post! Some folks think some of those mentioned here have that vibe (Bianchi, Lutens, etc.)! ERIS’s Ma Bête is so much so that I would never wear it to work. Not musks but the perfumes I’ve smelled that give the strongest “adult activities” scent are Bal a Versailles, Tabu by Dana, Jean Paul Gaultier’s Classique (I love orange blossom but it can go indolic), Alkemia Miel Sauvage, Sucreabeille’s Black Honey, Lust by Lush, and Tom Ford Black Orchid. Some of the Zoologist scents I’ve tried are rank, and I hear Secretions Magnifigue is beyond the pale.
