I really enjoy listening to genuinely engaged, erudite, curious, self-propelling enthusiasts simply talk about fragrances in the most idiosyncratic way they can. Memories, anecdotes, olfactory puzzles, passionate likes (and dislikes)...all that stuff rather than 'viral trends'. I think it's my age, perhaps. Ho! 😆😅
Amy! My goodness, what a wonderful video. This is exactly what I come here for. The concept of protection and protective waters (and water!), these are things we have in common and it resonates deeply. Definitely woke up in a funk. Looking around my apartment and feeling overwhelmed by the cats and dogs, the hair, a bunch of things that cats knocked over, a cord that got chewed…with this many pets, there is a quality of serene organization and space that escapes me. It’s like I woke up on a farm but I’m city mouse. Anyhow, this inspired me to get right up, spritz myself (Liquid Diamonds by Viktor and Rolf, soapy, clean and almost clear musk and a tiny bit of spice) and start cleaning. Thank you for that! ✌🏻🕺🏼♥️

I like a herbal/vegetable garden smell as these cloudy days drag on and make me feel blah. My favorite is Vilhelm Basilco & Fellini. I only had a sample, but it is on my wish list. A basil, tomato leaf & fig smelling thing. It's a reminder that everything's going to be ok. Summer is coming...🌞

chanel No 5 is my protection for me as well. It was my mother’s favourite. My mother passed away 5 months ago.. I’m still traumatised over my mother’s passing. I cry every day.. so when I wear it to sleep, it comforts me. ❤

I do wear scents for a sense of protection sometimes. I tend towards Iris perfumes for this..Prada infusion D'Iris....and also Coco Chanel. Also any incense perfume. I just purchased solstice scents seance and spirit tree....those hit the mark for me!

Omg the force field of perfume, YES! Tonight I sprayed myself with a Rose Coffee scent before getting my tired self to the library for an evening workshop. My Yates perfume with Geranium is like a superpower of positivity! Love your care and honesty friend!
Hi Amy! What a cool idea for a video! I love this and I know exactly what you mean about protective scents. A lot of Avon scents are comforting to me. They remind of being at my grandparent’s house, especially on Saturday night/Sunday morning while getting ready for church. Soapy or musk scents are so comforting to me. I love most, but Abercrombie 8 and Design are my all time favorites. They’re like the old pajamas you won’t get rid of, no matter the number of holes. Perfect and safe. Another I am loving is from Solstice. Farmhouse in Winter. I’ve been wearing it at night. It’s like eating spiced sugar cookies near the fireplace , maybe with the window cracked and you can smell the balsam floating through the coldness. I am obsessed! Lastly, I love fruity scents for wanting to get in gear and get things done. Soapy lemon scents, peach, grape, or candied strawberry scents. They all really lift my mood too. I use to love winter, but anymore-the gloom can really get to a person. As always, you’ve given me so many scents to look for. Love your channel so very much! Hope you’re doing well♥️

What a cool concept! I've been on the hunt for perfect Desert scents for years, specifically Sonoran/Mexican desert scents, which remind me of where I grew up. Not many fragrances utilize notes like desert sage, chaparral, copal incense, cactus, and even clay... so I'm always stoked to find them! Some favorite desert-y scents that make me feel protected are Solstice Scents' "Guardian" and "High Desert", and Fantôme's "Coyoacán", which has effectively become my dad's signature scent now. I've recently become obsessed with a scent called "Ummo" from the niche Mexican house Xinú -- it's a very "ritual" resiny tobacco-juniper scent that has this burning heat to it, like smoldering embers. It really is like a force field or a protection circle around me when I wear it. Love your videos! ♥
I bet everybody recommends 'L'Air du Desert Marocain' by Tauer as soon you mention hunting for fragrances that evoke the desert. What about Larmes du Desert by Atelier des Ors or Mother Road 66 by Parfum Satori?

My grandfather (my favorite person growing up) wore Old Spice. When I first tried Mitsouko it made me remember him and kind of reminded me of the scent of Old Spice. It’s been so long since I’ve smelled Old Spice (the old stuff, the new smells nothing like I remember), so I’m wondering if you get any similarities between the two? Great topic for a video!

One of my colleagues wears it and I follow her around like a puppy dog. Smells rancid on me!? I ADORE Vicky Tiel Sirène!! One of the few perfumes i have stashed (the old bottles). Plus, the bottle itself is an artwork! Have you tried any of her other scents? I’m intrigued but haven’t.

Have you tried l'occitane verbena beautiful uplifting citrus, lavender to me is uplifting and protective and cocooning I love Brilliantly British by Penhaligon's violet and Rose are also comforting scents L'ombre dans l'eau is the scent of their baies candle, diptyque have many beautiful scents Oriza le grand has a beautiful carnation scent louis xvi Oh I also love the green guerlain la petite robe noir Goldfield and banks pacific rock moss beautiful aquatic water scent i recommend you smell it i love it Fellow water sign here, pisces When I want a comforting or cocooning scent I reach for powdery perfumes like narciso rodriguez poudre or the white cube scent I also like the new cristal scent soft powdery and rosey I love watching your scent videos xx
“Cocooning” is such a great description!! I have tried + loved the Verbena products but it has been years. My favorite scent, Caron’s Eau de Reglisse, is mostly lemon verbena… so so nice that plant! You mention so many scents I’ve not tried that sound so fabulous (thanks for the intel)! I want to try “Brilliantly British” just for its name!

Have you tried l'occitane verbena beautiful uplifting citrus, lavender to me is uplifting and protective and cocooning I love Brilliantly British by Penhaligon's violet and Rose are also comforting scents

Oriza le grand has a beautiful carnation scent louis xvi

When I want a comforting or cocooning scent I reach for powdery perfumes like narciso rodriguez poudre or the white cube scent I also like the new cristal scent soft powdery and rosey

“Cocooning” is such a great description!! I have tried + loved the Verbena products but it has been years. My favorite scent, Caron’s Eau de Reglisse, is mostly lemon verbena… so so nice that plant! You mention so many scents I’ve not tried that sound so fabulous (thanks for the intel)! I want to try “Brilliantly British” just for its name!
