I’m trying to plumb one now on my rb. There are diagrams online with every different configuration. It’s extremely confusing to determine which is correct. I have three separate screenshots of how to plumb a 3 port Mac valve onto a 2 port internal wastegate. Literally three.
41:30 MAN!! i am so happy that engine didn't fire while FULL of fuel!! You guys are LUCKY!! and this was like ZERO FAULT of the tuner!! hey, MAKE SURE to call that Brand and Model of Fuel Regulator out, so no one dies...
Mannn I love the way you guys handled everything. Cool calm and collective. Troubleshoot and kept moving forward. Nothing but great vibes from everyone.
I have to compliment you on how clean your shop it. The floor is clean, the work benches are clean and clear. I have to say That I have never seen it so clean and I bet your customers enjoy walk into a clean shop as well.
102nd! Have NEVER seen this happen before. And I watch a lot of these type of videos and . Am a German car owner and driver, but I love how many people and import shops share ideas and insights to one another on line, eventsand at the PFI shop. The community is so tight. It’s fun to watch. Want to try and make it to the Kearny event next month. Roger in Pierre South Dakota
36:46 cause there are... In this frame specifically i notice an oem ground wire missing from the engine mount 10mm stud to the body engine bracket theres a 10mm to match it... hth
@@_Professor_Oak this, all help zero hate here 🙌 beautiful build and there's alot that goes into building these cars so easy to miss just like the boost reference 🤙
Everyone's favorite tuner shop!!! Always something cool happening. That's def the first I've seen gas pour out the turbo. I def remember being iffy about getting those cheap little FPR's.
This was one of my best uploads in a while!!! Everyone’s thinking and working together to figure it all out. Overcoming the problems and making it all work is what is all about. Great job guys. Love PFI speed just because situations like this!! Let’s go
Brent! Just a suggestion here. Tripod camera on every dyno facing straight at engine bay, maybe one each side at 45° aswell, don't stop there, go mad and slap one in the dyno itself looking up at underside engine bay, could help your diagnosis and id love to see these problems develop in real time. 🙏 Love the content👊-build it race it break it repeat-. (You can have that one, be good for a tee dont you think!!)😂
This was by far my favorite video. I love the honda content but I'm a Evo guy by heart. I used to own a 1999 Evo6 MR that was worked to the max pushing 752hp to all 4. And this was back in 2008-2009. Tech has progressed so much since then. It is so awsume seeing everyone jumping in to find and fix the problem.
Showing real world issues is something only PFI will show you, love watching you guys figure out issues, been watching for 6+ years now easy and still loving the content
Hope everyone and everything is going good for everyone! Miss seeing your smiling faces in Florida my friends! Hope to see you when you come back! Your friend from R&L Mufflers in Clearwater, Florida!
Everybody knows PFI is amazing and I really love it when he's out doing drag and drive with Cletus and everybody else he's such a humble guy and the government just loves to pick on us mechanics that just simply install apart and they make it into something else and it really tried to hurt him and a lot of us in that aspect and I love the fact that he's beaten and overcome the bullshit best of his ability cuz his and his family are all amazing people very humble people very nice people so keep it up guys
I had this happen to me multiple times on a Honda s2000 running aem Infiniti 508 we found that it was the infinity, causing the issue. It would turn all the fuel injectors on and just fill everything full of fuel. I switched to a haltech and have not had this issue since and that was the only thing I changed.
This video shows why as a customer/builder it’s important to throughly inspect the car to make sure everything is in order and if possible street tune the car to find possible issues. Dyno time adds up especially when you add diag to the situation
Tough brake for that first car! Hopefully gets that squared away! I know those 3584rs can party. I'm running one on my '90 Talon at about 48lbs and on a .83 housing and it DEFINITELY comes to party
my brother had the evo setup in a old talon. Love how it feels when that boost kicks you in to the future! im a honda head for life but the 4g63T always give me a rush pushing me in the seat. Good information on this one.
was trying to clean a carb out the other day and the line was in the sun for awhile after i hooked it back up... thinking no pressure when i came back blew it straight into my eyes so i feel ya on that one.
Ive seen tunes get corrupted before on haltech as well. Had to drive up to bolder for a cluent it happened to. As for those mini regulators i uad to pull the one that came with the repu off because it wouldnt hold pressure. The one on my evo is holding but it is a really mild setup.
Got to love when injectors stick wide open, have seen many engines hurt by hydro locking on fuel but usually if u catch it quick its a easy fix. Those have had issues with ebay cheap regulators blowing the diaphram just like older GM cars did back in the day, same failure right through the vac line .Of course u need to drain oil after fixing the stuck injector and i usually pull valve cover and use some brake clean down through there to clean as much fuel out the drain plug as possible then pour some crappy oil through. After that clean out the intercooler and other boost piping and u should be good to go. I see this on Nissans a ton but had a few on DSM;s as well. No source to boost controller/wastegate will get ya every time, with a 4 port i can see how the messed it up but with a 3 port its self explanatory if u have ever delt with any kind of older boost control. There are nice instructions and videos on how to install boost control solenoids and the spring in the wastegate is important too along with setting your boost cuts and other safety's just in case. I could hear it running away super easy on first run and thought to myself there is no boost control the way it sounded, gate was slammed shut lol.
Well definately cleaned the motor out with the stuck injector. And when my Subaru does that it hydrolocks every time. 550 yellow modded to 875 flow @52 psi. Yes I know they are too small but 1440cc going in soon. Damn money tree ain’t producing.
Had the same thing happen on a crv. 3 ecus later figured out a 5v and 12v line shorted together. Those 5 speed crv ecus are not very cheap. Started thinking it would have been cheaper to standalone it.
damn, that face full of fuel had to hurt!, been there/done that before, burns your eyes SO BAD! glad no-one got hurt beyond that, certainly a crazy amount of rogue fuel where it shouldn't be.
My FPR did the same thing, had my Air/Fuel ratio all over the place. thought i had a stuck injector or something else wrong. popped the vacuum line off to set static pressure and found the fuel problem, a hole in the diagram.
I had a similar problem too. When all 6 injectors of the VR6 flodding intake and engine due to a fried ECU. But seeing intercooler, pipes and turbo flodded to the brim is realy the next level.
Same thing happens all the time with ebay injectors. You think you got a deal on some 1200cc injectors and while you key on the car, every time it primes it's fire hosing because one or more are stuck open. Next thing you know you crank it and it hydro locks and bends a rod. Sad to say I've seen that more than a few times. If you buy ebay injectors have them flow tested and leak checked before installing them, make sure they don't leak and they flow equal to each other.
I had this happen on a MK7, a MPI fuel injector was stuck wide open, filled intercooler all the way up to the airbox, I couldn't believe it, Was draining fuel for days
27:42 Fan is still running because mitsubishi fan controllers 12v supply must be powered by a relay energized from ign+12 . If not the controller stays on and sees no pwm from ecu and runs full speed as a failsafe. This thing was backfeeding +12v somehow .
I had so much fun tuning here. PFI Speed is an amazing group of guys.
So stoked you could come out and Rip with us!! So much fun rippin some bad ass hot rods !!
Great pair of cars guys. Thanks to you we got a 58 minute video out of Brent 😂
All is fair in love war and fast cars glad it didn't catch fire that would have been bad
Love the pair of EVO's
Tasty ass Evos 😍😍😍🤘🏻
Had a great time there! Thank you again for allowing us to make some jam there!
Love your cars. Nice builds. I love Evo!!

Also shows total incompetence. Just sayin
PFI replumbs a boost controller in literally every episode!
you'd think everyone would have it memorized 😂

“Where is the source?” Gotta love Jamie😂
I have to compliment you on how clean your shop it. The floor is clean, the work benches are clean and clear. I have to say That I have never seen it so clean and I bet your customers enjoy walk into a clean shop as well.
Working hard on it all, thank you . I took a step back to get my life back together
@@PFIBrentmessy means your getting shit done it’s okay
Lol. Ur on the clean side. Other side is the get shit done side
Now that a lot of fuel. Dam !!!!!! I was scared to light a smoke up here I’m Michigan lol.
Perfect duo! I love watching him tune!

I can’t wait to see yah !!
At least theres gonna be no sludge in there🤣
I started watching this channel because of the dyno content.
Car bros love dyno content.
Keep doing dyno content
I'm a big fan of the look of a EVO myself, really good looking cars.
It's always a good day when PFI uploads a video.
I love seeing Strat come around, its always an adventure!!
Dont do it brent, you got enough money pits already 😂😂😂 3:54

Thats crazy! Thats a ton of fuel to go through literally everything...
"...we have the 2nd Evo on here. We're gonna run it on pump gas then drain it (thru the turbo as you do) and run some e85..." 🤣

That fuel pressure regulator could be a carb setup since it has such a low psi range. Glad it was figured out being the AEM got high lol.

Precision Falls 💦, those are a couple good looking Evo's 👽👍
We learn something new everyday fuel out turbo 🤯 if you never showed us people never will think it is possible. Be safe 🙏

Love the help, the hype, and the horsepower!1
Man, that 2nd evo is a wicked daily street car! Love it
Evo- pouring fuel out of the turbo
Brent- check the grounds 😂
This made my day Brent! Love seeing you tinker on an Evo. I’d love to see you own/race one and give it the PFI treatment. Or a DSM even.
You guys are so lucky thank God.
Wow Desmond in the house....small world or what,
Thats a wild take... good catch😊
Strat no shit been a couple minutes great dude like that guy
love to see EVOS on PFI SPEED!!
Them Evo’s are so beautiful wow clean clean …❤❤❤
You should make a video of basic things to check before the Dyno, common issues you see that are easy to fix, and some basic things to bring with.
awesome video brent ! This content is the best ! good ole evo 8 my dream car when I was in high school
Damn, almost burning down the shop again with fuel. You are lucky guys. 😁
PFI FAM VIBES ARE THE BEST VIBES ! LET'S GOOOOO!!!!❤
Love the carbon trunk with the lip on the back of the trunk! Thats what id want!
That's crazy, Thanks Man, God Bless!
damn bro lucky that wasn't at the track on a hot day, holy shit
Hell yeah brother. Love the content thank you guys for everything
He also told Jack to replace the fuel pressure regulator and other parts when he completely missed the sound of the dead hole Jack's Evo had.
That turbo been hanging with Mario 😂
Great Job guys !!!!!

Not every day you see an engine puke its guts up like that 😂That fuel dump is some down right scary stuff though😯
Saw the insta short and I was so hoping this would be a video today! Hooray!
Been a long time since i tuned in, idk why nothing in particular. Glad you and your family and friends are doing ok!
Love the video had so much fun at pfi fest at Pueblo can’t wait till you come again 💪
was trying to clean a carb out the other day and the line was in the sun for awhile after i hooked it back up... thinking no pressure when i came back blew it straight into my eyes so i feel ya on that one.
Couldn't you put a check valve in the line from the manifold to the regulator? Allows flow to manifold but not back?
Good video! Where my south African peeps at? 😁
35:28 i knew that was going to happen.
Thank you for your time
Those Evo's are sweet
Could it be a lack of engine grounds causing electrolysis to melt the diaphragm??
Edit: just hit this point of the video 😂🙌🤓 36:41

So what fuel pressure regulators should we not buy? Did I hear him say the “mini” ones?
Ya it would have been nice if they would have showed the exact defective FPR that was on the car so people know to stay away from it
