When your talking with someone who shows no actual understanding of what your feeling or thinking.. sitting across from you with pen and pad.. making their mmhmm I see, I see.. comments.. when you know they don't see shit.. you know they can't even be honest about their own life or failings.. all their "knowledge" coming from a text book.. from their years of sitting in a class room.. that's offensive.
There's something that happens though when speaking with another person who you know instinctively.. just gets it.
It's not so much their words.. it's just known. There's a freedom within speaking to them.
A release because something gets broken.. in a good way.
It's pretty rare to find though.
There is an intimacy that can be had within two people who just understand each other.. those people will tend to respect naturally the others boundaries because they sense it.. or see a need for some space.. words like soul mates etc can be easily used but to actually be that.. means having that incredible sensitivity to one another.
It can create a certain completion of self.. because there's a safety with that person.
This is where there are those who have been involved with things even on governmental agency levels.. that others will never understand. Just how deep the emotional and mental impact can go. The scarred heart tissue from having to find a way to remove self from that situation and memory replay that can strike or rise up at any time unannounced. Never getting over.. but working through.. just another day.. if I can just make it through this next few minutes.. over time that can extend to hours, days, weeks, months, years.. but it's fucking hard work.
Having to show self patience, kindness, understanding.. allowing room to fail in some ways.. having to be selfs encourager.. having to understand self so well to know what you can and can't do. This is why patience with self and understanding are really important. Being able to acknowledge the changes within.. today might be a shitty day.. but it's still better than where I was.
To lose trust in others is one thing.. to lose trust in self.. that's a whole other level of overcoming. Reminding self I am better than this.
What do I know to be true?
Having to rebuild a foundation of trust with self.
What do I believe?
Why do I believe it?
Can I pinpoint the moment of belief?
Who am I really.. when noone else is around .. who am I?
When around others who am I?
Do I trust my own thoughts on things?
Can I explain why I think what I do about a particular issue?
How does that thought affect my feelings?
So while I'm willing to listen to some people I listen to those who make sense to me.
NOT because they decide I need to look up to them or they've decided to place themselves as an authority over my life.
I will see things in others and think there's something about them that sets them apart from all the other bullshit around me I hear.. from those who want to be self important. I couldn't give a fuck what their title or position is in the world. That doesn't impress me. It's what I see in them that matters.
