So funny to see this when they weren't as famous and hear the song that they know to alot better. They have really learned when to put in the punchlines and makes sure their facials expressions matches aswell, It was still a great perfomance then which explains their succes now! Fliight of the Conchords is just great:)
I always think that they'd perfected these songs over time to tickle a live audience is clear, and that's why they mostly tend to sound a bit flat on the studio/tv versions. Whereas the songs they wrote specifically for the show... come across much better on it
These guys have come such a long way -they are soooo polished! I'm so glad they stuck with their act. They've been my favorites ever since I found out about them!
I love this version of Pretty Prince of Parties, the energy is so much better, plus the faster reaction to "Can I come to your party?" if funnier than an elongated pause, at least to me.
wow. it's great to see a record of their earlier performances here, really shows how they've polished their act, to make it the fantastic one we see today! awesome stuff =).
did they say if Stu is into it? Isn't Stu the guy in the vampire movie of Jemaine's - What We Do In The Shadows? He's a real guy, not an actor, and plays a huge part in that film!
this is the first time I've watched this bit, although I've been a fan for long. Can't believe they don't perform "if you're into" anymore. Its friggin hillarious!
Rock on, thanks for making the effort to get some information, and for sharing it with us. I f'ing love Conchords. Their cynicism and wit never ceases to make me smile...and they are absolutely gorgeous! Thanks for posting this, it's really good. I'm guessing it's some earlier stuff....I miss the facial hair. I'm a sucker for handsome boys with beards.
XD. I saw this song on FOTC TV singing to Bret's US girlfriend, years ago of course, I thought it was written for the TV show, now just this minute, this year I find out it is an old old old song for years before they became known, even in NZ

They've actually mentioned themselves that whenever they go back to New Zealand, and they hear the New Zealand accent over the Airport P.A., they burst out laughing because it sounds like a caricature to them, because they've become so accustomed to American accents
Good call, was drunk when I posted that. I could hardly see his fingers moving but now that I take a MUCH closer look, it's more obvious. I'm glad you pointed it out 'cuz it's always really obvious that he's playing the guitar in all their other songs, just not so obvious in that one.
Everyone in US who is criticizing this has to remember that this is OLD. like waaaay before they went over there. If you've seen the development from this video to now then you'll see it's not that bad, plus all their songs have been changed a bit and generally slowed down for the TV show and us release
I honestly think this is so much funnier than the show. The HBO special was the best of their work, but this whole era where Jemaine wears tinted aviators and open collar shirts is hilarious.
It's cool to see the early versions of these songs
I think this is easily the best version of Prince of Parties. The timing and pacing is top
Here sing " dirty flirty birdie" i like more the actual one " you're a bunky donkey junky"🤣🤣
It's cool to see the progression of their humor as they figure out timings and punchlines...
Awesome stuff.
So funny to see this when they weren't as famous and hear the song that they know to alot better. I'm 100% here for the tinted glasses
100%
they are working for him.
These guys have come such a long way -they are soooo polished! I'm so glad they stuck with their act. They've been my favorites ever since I found out about them!
I so happy these song exists
They've really matured and refined their act over the years. I think Brett's sideburns were holding them back.
2019 and I still love them as much now as I did back then! 16 years ago!!! crazy!
the pretty prince of parties is one of my favourite songs, forgetting the fact its ridiculous its just a great song.
Setlist
0:55 If You're Into it
3:50 The Prince of Parties
5:45 Hiphopotamus vs Rhymenocerous
5:25 for the lead in to Hiphopotamus vs Rhymenocerous
"there aint no party like my nana's tea party" sounded so epic. for some reason, more epic in this video than most other ones
this is so awesome! to see how far they've come and how much they have fine-tuned their songs, it's just amazing. Thank you for posting this!
these guys are going to cement themselves into comedy history... saw em for the first time on HBO and this shit is AMAZING. They're so damn good.
it has been 15 years, and you are absolutely correct. If you are still able to read this, I thank you for your comment.
i love the way they're always fine tuning their songs for every gig so they're never the same
I love this version of Pretty Prince of Parties, the energy is so much better, plus the faster reaction to "Can I come to your party?" if funnier than an elongated pause, at least to me.
They caught me on rhyme watch. they accused me of attempted rap.
I've never noticed their reaction at 3:53 before. How endearing!
YES! I've been waiting SO freaking long for this to be put up. Thank you!!
"when i say flight you say wakakawaaahoohoowaaa of the conchords... - flight!-"
.....
....
"of the conchords."
The pretty prince of parties is pure gold..
Dude, this was posted in 2006!!!!!
The early days of UA-cam, one of the earliest I've seen.
Amazing
If you've seen any of their live things you would know that many lyrics change and it makes it overall funnier in my opinion.
10 years later their one of the best bands of all time :3
It's 20 years later now!
Best version of the Prince of Parties
wow. it's great to see a record of their earlier performances here, really shows how they've polished their act, to make it the fantastic one we see today!
awesome stuff =).
Didnt know, but not surprised this was one their earliest songs. I love it. One of my faves.
did they say if Stu is into it? Isn't Stu the guy in the vampire movie of Jemaine's - What We Do In The Shadows? He's a real guy, not an actor, and plays a huge part in that film!
Yeah, they've been mates with him for ages. He was in the original WWDITS short film which they filmed in the early 2000s
Maybe in the beginning but the show Stu is the unseen roommate of Brets girlfriend Coco
Or maybe Stu is just a really common name
this is the first time I've watched this bit, although I've been a fan for long. Can't believe they don't perform "if you're into" anymore. Its friggin hillarious!
taking flight in a pandemic. those tinted shades were amazing.
i love their reaction when somebody yells at the start of the 2nd song
lol omg. i love them live soooo much. so cute, love em

Barry Nichols I've never heard song 2
Yeah all the songs from season 1 were songs they had done for years, but they wrote all new songs for season 2.
Amazing! How have I not seen this until now?
I first saw this 14 years ago. Still just as enjoyable.
the intro to pretty prince of parties is just brilliant I didn't know that Bret could play the bongos.
Just caught on to these guys from the HBO special - thanks for sharing the clip. Awesome!!
How have these 14 years been? Are you where you thought you’d be?
@@JessePoage older and wiser! :)
@@Oldschl that’s good, keep it up!
Before Bret says "no" to "can i come to your party?" he has a quick glance at Jemaine. Classic.
Excellent upload
"like global warming, you can't ignore me" okay guys, i'm from 15 years in the future, I actually have news about that :S

2 years later its no better :(
@Aquatic Ape lmao okay
I like how over the years they have refined the songs and made them even better
i love this song
Love flight of the choncords. The first song is my favourite!
3:40 nice save lol
Jermaine: "Are you ready to folk?"
Bret: *drops guitar*
Nice work boys. Good to see the early days.
These guys were always amazing it seems! Holy hell 2003 was a long time ago.
robo931 it's even longer now!!
"You see me on RhymeWatch accusing me of attempted rap." Good stuff.
It's neat to see how much these songs have evolved in only a few years
This clip is ages old! They got better as they went along. Pretty goooood
i love how bret makes the rythm of the song from fast to slow because he's so nervous
they are so flippin amazing!!
Ooo! I haven't heard some of these songs before! YAY!
They've actually mentioned themselves that whenever they go back to New Zealand, and they hear the New Zealand accent over the Airport P.A., they burst out laughing because it sounds like a caricature to them, because they've become so accustomed to American accents
Bret has ultimate bongos skills. and also uses them for better purposes than that guy in Doggy Bounce.
Good call, was drunk when I posted that. I could hardly see his fingers moving but now that I take a MUCH closer look, it's more obvious. I'm glad you pointed it out 'cuz it's always really obvious that he's playing the guitar in all their other songs, just not so obvious in that one.
one of the best bands to see live
I'm so glad I found this! This is amazing!
If you're into it is one of my favourite songs
Wow, I'm a huge Conchords fan and I've never seen this. Hilarious.
Awesome! I like their old stuff.
Nice comparison, and it rhymes too.
We need to see some more of those in poems.
Yeah, I looked it on your ch and thought hey what's this... And it was awesome!
It's great seeing how far they've come since their early days, tweaking the songs all the time...
I love the way they look at eachother in "if you're into it." Its so like: WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY... Oh well"
"in the bedroom i'm the gentleman, the ladies come before me" what a bar
Awesome to see them in their earlier days... this HAS to be more then 3 YEARS old.
So sweet- double-team you indeed! What cuties!
Yes they have. After watching the other one, I was gritting my teeth through this one.
They are so nervous here! Adorable!
Aaaawesome!!! Totally favorite! :)
Sound a little nervous, but it's totally adorable.
"they're accusing me of attempted rap" lol
The last song is FANTASTIC.
(:(:(:
this version is funny, anything these guys do is always great)
LOL i fully remember watching this!!!
Who would have known that on this night all those years ago one of the best modern comedy duo acts would perform
early flight of the conchords videos are my favorite
This video deserves 1 million views. Lets Make It Happen.
whoah! they both look different and sound so different as well!!!!! :O
still love them
speshly brett :P
Beautiful
they are amazing
after watching them im inspired to make a band.
flight of the conchords is a "big buzz"
"On Rhymewatch for attempted rap" That's brilliant! I'm suprised they've taken that out of the current version.
He IS a kiwi! good observation! I had no idea. I didn't even know what a kiwi was until i looked these guys up.
i like how they are so nervous that the don't keep perfect beat.. and now they perfected all those rough edges.
Haha it's great seeing them evolve.
I love them!!!
This is old, but still amazingly halariouse!
FOTC ROCKS I cant wait for the new season.
Everyone in US who is criticizing this has to remember that this is OLD. like waaaay before they went over there.

yes, i think when he says steve he is referring to steve irwin. every video of that song i see only a few people get it.
"You see me on rhyme watch and they're accusing me of attempted rap!"
lolololol
I honestly think this is so much funnier than the show. The HBO special was the best of their work, but this whole era where Jemaine wears tinted aviators and open collar shirts is hilarious.
"They're accusing me of attempted rap" lmfao
"They call me the hiphopopotamus, my lyrics are bottomless...you go."
Lol!
Hilarious! They should really keep it for live shows.
It's weird to see how these songs have evolved over time. Especially the last one. They've gotten a lot better with a few little changes.
I have to recomend their more recent version, if you care to view it. It is a good illustraion of how far they have progressed and improved.
delivery is everything.
well... they have gotten a lot better since then :P ... they totally own though
Wow thanks to HBO im now on the flight of the
conchords bandwagon.....funniest guys ever!!!
Brett has never looked so fly.
