It’s the first time I’ve commented but as the panel beater that worked on this car it has been an utter joy to restore this car for harry and to bring this car back to life for him Thanks ADI
A massive thank you to Harry for Choosing us at Prestige refinishing to carry out the panel and paintwork to the body and a big thank you to Day and White’s, it was a pleasure working with you. Keep an eye out for the next one 😉
Door and bonnet gaps are far from great from what I can see on a video, I dread to think what else I would notice if the car was in front of me. OK, you have done your best and nobody likes negative comments of course but it pains me. Everyone in the trade knows that 99% of people know very little about fit and finish, eg. the "smart" repairers, "they fixed my car on my drive and it's perfect". I'd be really interested to know what that "body restoration" cost Harry, I will wait until I have the opportunity to ask.
Fabulous. Does prove that it's always better value to buy the best car possible rather than restore a lesser one, but hey, this example was important to him and he never wants to sell it, so why not ? Bravo.
“I don’t care” is the best line here. The genuine passion and enthusiasm for this is fantastic to see, Harry. Building your cars the way you want and for what you want them to do, others be damned, is how it should be done. Kudos for supporting the incredible craftsmanship, preserving these historic vehicles, and sharing them with us. Merry Christmas.
It's easy to think that people who can afford to do this sort of thing don't fully appreciate it. It's great to see how much this means to you. I'll never be able to afford anything like this, but I really enjoy the cars I can afford so I share your joy. Thanks for taking us all with you.

Buy a good one is the lesson, available for less than 40000GBP. This is not as rare as Harry says. Probably about 20 similar 1.6 RHD Fulvia Zagatos are still around.
Anyone who is seeing Harry's Lancia for the first time in this video: You must go back and watch this entire series to understand the amount of rehabilitation that was required and the frankly hard-to-believe skill and artistry that has gone into this restoration. Day and White's should be named a World Heritage Site and protected and preserved for future generations! Thank you Harry for funding this project and allowing us to witness it "blow-by-blow".
Harry, as the proud owner of a 1969 series 1 1300 Fulvia Sport Zagato, this series of videos has been both inspirational and invaluable to say the least! I am currently going through the restoration process; the car has been stripped back to bare metal, all the metal work carried out and painted in it’s original ‘Blu Mendoza’. My engine is currently being completely rebuilt and I’m hoping she’ll be back on the road for the summer. Given that there only of handful of Zagato owners in the country I hope our lovely cars get to meet up at some point!
There are considerably more than a handful of Lancia Fulvia Sports in the UK. About 60 counted as licensed in ‘How Many Left’. Now if you want a really rare Fulvia in the UK buy a Berlina 😂
@@tsb3093 Agree. These are decent cars and there is always one for sale for 30K GBP plus. Watching this video, one of my first thoughts was, "Harry should get a photo of all the masters that worked on this car" and then 13:27, there it is. The signed bit of metal was a nice touch as well. What a series this was, watching these masters at work. Love Harry's emotional moment at the end, I hope he takes the Zag on many adventures, and if we're lucky he'll take the cameras along too. Thank you, Harry! 👍👍
I thought Harry was about to well up with tears. I nearly was. I so enjoy an expert such as Harry who mixed with real passion makes incredible videos with such a depth of feeling. Harry is in the right job for sure. A real treat, I waited for this day almost as much as the man himself.
Harry, I find it incredible that the Zagato rated so poorly in your ratings. I rarely comment on any UA-cam Video but I have been watching that restoration with great interest, particularly the panel beating. It was a joy to watch the attention to detail but more particularly the skill and experience of the guy doing the work. It was really heartening to see that you rated seeing it completed so highly in your review of 2022.
I appreciate someone that says, "It might not make sense to some people but I love it and I want it to be perfect." Great car, great project, great result! Enjoy it.
Your emotional response to seeing the completed car was fab too see. It’s what’s missing in modern cars regardless of their propulsion. Nothing moves us anymore. As the manufacturers have chased BHP, technology and become mobility companies, they’ve lost that emotion. 50 years ago that Zagato sparked your love of cars and 50 years later it’s still able to move you physically and emotionally. I look down a typical street in Britain today and I’m not surprised young people are not bothered by cars anymore. That they don’t have an emotional response. I don’t see any 10 year old lusting over a Model S or Kia EV6 enough to spark a lifetimes passion in cars. A passion that can inspire hard work to be able to indulge. And I certainly don’t see these cars being restored to this standard or any standard for that matter, in 50 years time. Cars should be an emotional thing. They take us on journeys where we truly experience life’s ups and downs, create memories and live. I’m so pleased this Zagato gets to create even more memories for you Harry, for many more years to come. Thank you for letting us share the journey with you, for not hiding your emotions and for sharing the costs. At £100k I think it represents massive value as what else for that money could spark those memories, that joy, that time travel, that excitement. In short, nothing. Thank you again and I look forward to seeing more of the Zag on the channel.
What a beautiful car! Why can't car designers come up with such beautifully delicate and graceful designs like this any more? Also, though although unlikely, it would be great to see if Lancia ever makes a come back!
Who gives a toss about the cost? If you can afford it, it’s a moot point. The whole point is the joy and happiness and bringing back memories and creating new ones. And this is truly one of the most joyous videos I have seen for quite some time. I would do it in a heartbeat if i could afford it on at least a couple of cars I have owned simply due to the memories they evoked, the joy of driving them, the love I have for those cars and the connection they give me to another time. This Lancia clearly does this for Harry and what a journey and what a result. An absolutely stunning bit of work from all involved but the biggest part of this is that look and smile on the face and the exuberance and sheer happiness it clearly has brought. We are dead a long time, we can’t take things with us, enjoy the things and enjoy the moments and this is one of them. Awesome video!
Thanks Harry for 'saving' this car and bringing it back to life. Giving it a new lease of life for everyone in the future to enjoy it. Bravo to you Sir.
Having seen this from the start with wonky bodywork, amateur repairs, bits falling off and more filler than metal. This is outstanding! To see the transformation is amazing the craftsmanship to bring the Car back a credit to everyone involved. Saving the Car for another 30 years brilliant. Let’s hope Harry gets carried away with another few classics. Can’t wait to see the Lamborghini get back on the road too.
Both Fulvias are breathtaking. Gorgeous cars. They are reminiscent of the Dino and Stratos semi-twins. So similar and yet so different. I'll have to wait until next year to ask Santa to bring me one...or the other 😊 Can't wait for the test drive...and the first fettle....and the first drive after the first fettle...and the next drive after several months and it's all bedded in...and ...
Takes me back to 1974/5. My father had 2 Betas', one neighbor had a Fulvia and a Stag another had a Jensen interceptor and another Mk1 3l GT Capri and a Fiat Supermiafiori 2.0l TC. Those days were super cool. You are a very lucky man Harry, it's beautiful.
Sounds like you lived on quality street! I loved my supermirafiori. Had it for 3 years and did nearly 40 k miles around Scotland in it. It was totally reliable . In fact most of the cars I had back then were. I dont remember too many breakdowns until I started buying mgs My dad had jags. My mum had minis. Neighbours had triumph vitesse. Rover p5. All I can remember. Cheers
Probably my favourite series of Harry’s videos as it has completely shown why certain people love cars. The passion from all involved has been amazing and the result speaks for itself. Well done Harry for doing more than an engine rebuild as this is what the car and your memories totally deserve.
I feel quite emotional after watching this video and the previous ones. Personally I think it’s a bargain at £100K. Well done Harry and festive greetings to you.
Does anyone else feel like this car is only truly appreciated having seen what a basket case it was and the INSANE amount of metalworking necessary to bring various parts of the body back from the dead?? I mean, the body bloke needs a new title on his CV: automotive necromancer! That rear hatch and a few other parts made MY stomach churn to look at them! Cheers and congratulations to everyone involved in the project, what an ace result! 🖖😎👍
Wow!. The car that started Harry on his life-long passion with cars. No wonder there was catch in your voice when you explained that. What a journey you've had over the years. Thank you for sharing - and wishing you every success in 2023!
Been watching the progress of this over the past year or two. Being an automotive glazier for over 30 years I've been in more body shops than most people (even panel beaters and painters) and I have to say their work is something you will really struggle to find anywhere. True craftsmen. Utterly brilliant workmanship. Well done chaps all.
You fell in love with a great automobile all those years ago. Now you have 'brought one back' to better than factory standard. What a lovely package! What a fine team of craftspeople!
Thanks Harry, I imported my FSZ 16000 from the UK to Australia and completed a very similar restoration from a very similar condition car. Some parts we had to 3D print and others came from all over the world. Watching this series reminds me that it was all worthwhile. Congrats to all involved.
Cheers for making my Christmas a little merrier with your stunning Lancia, Harry! I've thoroughly enjoyed watching the artistry that's gone into it and I can't imagine a way to improve on it. I hope you and yours have a lovely Christmas and a very happy New Year!
A neighbour of mine had one of these when I was a kid in the 70s. It was a similar if not identical colour. He used to spin the wheels going down the small kerb of his driveway onto the road. My Mum used to hate him doing it, I used to love it. I was friends with his son and one day the 3 of us went to London in the car, Summer day, windows open, complete with the tyre screech. Thanks for 2 years of entertainment with this, I have followed it step by step.
I can understand the passion to restore the Lancia to the standard you have. For someone who is interested in cars, having a pristine version of a car which has personal significance is something only a car enthusiast would understand. It won't be long until the first Spring day with unsalted roads returns! Great to see what can be done with the right skills.
The work these guys did on the body of this car is simply perfect. Great attention to detail, great workmanship. Also the engine overhaul seems so worth it. Awesome looking car.
Harry is having more fun than many people with multi million cars in their garages. It's about passion and love, then investment. With many people is the other way around and that is why they will never have as much as fun Harry does.
This must have been your ultimate Christmas present and I would imagine an emotional moment Harry. This is true automotive art and a tribute to the craftsmen who have worked on it and to you in persevering with your dream…. What a fascinating series this has been, this and your XJC Jag are truly your Crown Jewels 🤩
Beautiful end result, just stunning. However, £87,000 on any level is unbelievable BUT the emotional connection to a car you remembered from your youth, out of reach for so long and then recapturing a moment in time is truly priceless. It’s a keeper Harry!
£87.000 seems a reasonable price considering the man hours that have gone into it as restoring is more time consuming than replacing , to me its a bargain
It is a lot of money. Sure. But special cars with history and a bit of spice to it does cost good money. Now go look at what Alfaholics did to Gordon Murrays Zagato
Glad to see it finally get home. Love your enthusiasm for it too. We've all got a car in our memory that we could restore beyond its value. In the end it is still all about your long term enjoyment of the car. Now if we could just get some decent weather drive in.
Harry. Can I say thank you very much for this. It has been a pleasure to follow the re-build of this beautiful car and to see the outstanding craftsmen who have worked on the car. I hope you enjoy it for many years to come.
That's the first time I've heard Harry's voice waver on a video. Great to see genuine emotion and love for this project. I didn't think I would be much interested in this series. How wrong I was.
Not many people would have the passion to do a full restoration on a car 🚘 like this one! only one person could and only one person did and that was Harry thank you sir for having passion and insight to pour bucket loads of cash into this project, I thank you 🙏🏼
She looks beautiful! Had a lump in my throat watching this one. Thank You Harry. You have no idea the effect you have on your viewers. Merry Christmas and Happy 2023. 🇬🇧👍
I honestly don’t know which restoration journey I prefer between this, the Jaguar and the Lamborghini. They were all great! Thanks for bringing us along Harry and happy holidays to you and the family.
I'll confess to a lump in my throat as you talked about the car & build just for you because it sparked your love of cars. Speaking personally, I'm forever grateful for your neighbour 50 odd years ago, we've all enjoyed you sharing your passion and enthusiasm for cars and car culture since, keep it up for a long time yet, please! And can't wait until your next installment about your fleet!
Maybe the best ever Harry's Garage video, for the stunning Zagato, the history, the passion, the incredible workmanship and the sheer joy. Thanks for sharing the journey Harry.
I can see this has been a pretty emotional moment, getting the car back to the standard it deserves to be in, and back into the fold. I have to admit to having a tear or two, seeing it all finally come together and giving me cause to reflect on my own journey with my little project. A lovely Christmas day upload and very much appreciated! (ps everyone's getting an updoot today!)
"It's not for sale" Says it all that does! I have enjoyed watching this restoration more than any car related youtube content ever. Well done and thanks for sharing Harry.
I had a car restored, which also took 2 years (plus some), and I remember the emotion I felt when I first saw it in paint, I had a proper lump in my throat and could hardly speak. Thanks Harry for this, I was right there with you when they pulled off that cover, a fantastic moment. And what a result!
Amazing to see a car still pulling at the heart strings like this even though you had a long career driving and experiencing cars that most can only dream of. Enjoy its absolutely stunning 👌
Mr Metcalfe, this video shows what separates you from the pack; class, passion, knowledge and emotion. Thanks for taking us on this journey and for your openness about it all. Drive that car, we are with you.
OMG. I've followed this from day one and at times thought you were mad. Apologies. I love it. Yes worth every penny and to see it next to the Works Fulvia looks like a bargain. Please keep us informed. Congratulations Harry.
I've really enjoyed the video series. Body work guys have been outstanding. Such a tragedy if they retire and skills go with them. I wish you every pleasure in it, Harry.
Total props to the 'old skool' lad in the early videos who bent the metal into the right shapes and welded it nice. You made it better than it left the factory.
Enjoyed every minute of the progress for this Lancia, in all the episodes. Extremely pleased for you Harry. The way you spoke afterwards , it sounded like a life - long ambition , so the cost is irrelevant, you have achieved it , earned it , and now got the badge for it ! Very well deserved. All the best for Christmas and the new year.
What I have loved about this is that you have put your stamp on it and not gone for pure originality. Forget the Lambos, Ferrari, Project 8; this is the car that has really stirred your soul and it has been a privilege to watch and share that experience.
What fabulous skills the panel beaters and engineers have used to put this gorgeous piece of history back in a better condition than when it was new. It's easy to say it's worth every penny but I also believe it's true. It's a stunning example! ...Fantastic work!
Video series of the year on the Zagato Harry. Utterly captivated by this one and it's turned out amazing. Thanks for taking us on the journey with you. Merry Christmas to yourself and your family. Thanks for the content this year, all the best.
Congratulations to you Harry, it looks absolutely gorgeous and a real credit to all of those who have worked on it - they should be rightly proud of their efforts. Hope we can see it being enjoyed in videos in the coming year! Cheers!
Congratulations, Harry, for your dream to come true in so many ways! I notice you title this "[the] restoration is over..." rather than the restoration is complete!!! It has been a long time, indeed, but the results speak for themselves. Happy Holidays to you and your family!
I can't believe I've spent almost two years watching this project. Hooked from the first until the last, eagerly awaiting every progress update video. I loved the Jaguar restoration, but the Zagato was on another level. The team you chose are absolute geniuses. An utter thing of beauty. Emotional Harry.
Absolutely brilliant, love this special little car. Can’t wait to see a video of it purring along your favourite roads. Only problem, we’ll need another restoration series…….. what next? Maybe a little Japanese 70s car or something unusual for us?
Harry, I'm so glad you completed the zagato. I am lucky , being an Italian I had more than a few chances to see those... I can't wait to see your video about the driving experience. It's... all about emotion and lightness. It's similar to a lotus but with the style and the rawness of old italian sport cars. It's a Lancia, a true one. I can't wait to see you LOVING it. I am sure you will, every single second of it.
Harry, your love, passion, appreciation knowledge for this car and many others is fantastic as well as all your videos, car or farm, Your self, Ian Tyrrell, Retro Power are an absolute pleasure to watch. @@darthnagus5457 Yeah the car looked quite alright before, Mr H was quite surpriced over the nastiness that came to light.
Dear sir, your neighbours had exquisite taste in motors... 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Sounds like you lived on quality street! I loved my supermirafiori. Had it for 3 years and did nearly 40 k miles around Scotland in it. It was totally reliable . In fact most of the cars I had back then were. I dont remember too many breakdowns until I started buying mgs
My dad had jags. My mum had minis. Neighbours had triumph vitesse. Rover p5. All I can remember. Cheers
What a beautiful design. It's perfect. It looks like it just came out of the factory. Amazing restoration.
You can’t really put a price on nostalgia and how important it makes you feel. Feelings really are priceless
Facts don't care about your feelings.
@@JamesSmith-qs4hx What's that supposed to mean?
Yes you can. Chuffin 1000’s!!!
I disagree. This was an exercise in letting heart rule head. There may be emotional attachment, but don't try this at home.
I value sense over sensibility. I have had a very nice Fulvia Zagato, enjoyed the car but in no way is it 120000GBP well spent.
A more handsome little car I've never seen. Lovely to see this given the resources required to preserve for future generations to enjoy!
Have enjoyed watching the rebuild and yes, we figured it wasn't gonna be cheap!. Would be great to see it at the NEC or another show next year.
What a joy to see you so happy and glad to have the Zagato back. Those guys are magicians
Those are the two I also like best. Puts the Porsches and the Ferraris a bit in their place.
Not sure I’ve ever seen Harry this chuffed, I can’t believe the car was ever this tight and crisp to begin with when it was new either! What a beaut
Beautiful end result, just stunning. However, £87,000 on any level is unbelievable BUT the emotional connection to a car you remembered from your youth, out of reach for so long and then recapturing a moment in time is truly priceless. It’s a keeper Harry!
A singer Porsche is ten times the price.
Plus VAT. Over 100K. Personally, I'd think that's the " tell your wife" number..
@@alexhudson3574why did it take them so long? They just want the money.
Up at 3am watching HG after a hectic Christmas celebration. Now that car is a piece of art; What a beauty!
Glad to see it finally get home. Love your enthusiasm for it too. We've all got a car in our memory that we could restore beyond its value. In the end it is still all about your long term enjoyment of the car. Now if we could just get some decent weather drive in.
That restoration has been a total labour of love. A testimony to the skills and crafts these men have. Raise a glass to that.
Considering the amount and quality (absolute top-level) of the labor that went into this restoration- Harry, you got a bargain.
No click bait just the love for cars Harry it’s a work of art …..and what a car …enjoy ❤
Wonderful to understand the origin of your automotive obsession and passion. Your “new” 50 year-old testament to that passion is stunning. Well done!
Not many people would have the passion to do a full restoration on a car 🚘 like this one! only one person could and only one person did and that was Harry thank you sir for having passion and insight to pour bucket loads of cash into this project, I thank you 🙏🏼
The best thing about this is to hear the emotion in your voice as you summarise. The car is now genuinely priceless, and it is stunning.
She looks beautiful! Had a lump in my throat watching this one. Thank You Harry. You have no idea the effect you have on your viewers. Merry Christmas and Happy 2023. 🇬🇧👍
It's great to see someone who's made a living out of cars giving back to a worthwhile project such as this.
Thanks for sharing the journey Harry.
i have never seen a happier man as Harry is over his Zagato. It's stunning amigo.
"It's not for sale"
Says it all that does! I have enjoyed watching this restoration more than any car related youtube content ever.
Well done and thanks for sharing Harry.
Harry you are my automotive hero. Cheers to you for following through on this personal project. Watched every step of the way, what a thing !
I had a car restored, which also took 2 years (plus some), and I remember the emotion I felt when I first saw it in paint, I had a proper lump in my throat and could hardly speak. Thanks Harry for this, I was right there with you when they pulled off that cover, a fantastic moment. And what a result!
Very nice. Imagine the satisfaction of actually doing the work yourself on your own car !
Congratulations harry a beautiful restoration. Can’t wait for a driving video
Amazing to see a car still pulling at the heart strings like this even though you had a long career driving and experiencing cars that most can only dream of. Enjoy its absolutely stunning 👌
Thanks for sharing the magic of the renovation. Happy Christmas Harry.
Mr Metcalfe, this video shows what separates you from the pack; class, passion, knowledge and emotion. Thanks for taking us on this journey and for your openness about it all. Drive that car, we are with you.
Harry, great Christmas present. Love this series. Keep up the great work.
I know bugger all about cars, but Harry’s enthusiasm and passion shines through. Another great journey
OMG. I've followed this from day one and at times thought you were mad. Apologies. I love it. Yes worth every penny and to see it next to the Works Fulvia looks like a bargain. Please keep us informed. Congratulations Harry.
Nice to see Harry genuinely happy. Also, I much prefer when Harry talks about his own cars
Congratulations Harry! What a journey, what a gem! Thank you for sharing
What fabulous skills the panel beaters and engineers have used to put this gorgeous piece of history back in a better condition than when it was new. It's easy to say it's worth every penny but I also believe it's true. It's a stunning example! ...Fantastic work!
This was just the best resto. The skills and passion by the guys and Harrys passion for it was just incredible to watch. Loved this series.
Worth every penny Harry, I’ve never seen a car spark so much joy in you.
Wonderful craftsmanship!!
Like original showroom condition!!
Best wishes & Merry Christmas 🎄
I've said this before and I'll say it again. Well done Harry for saving an Italian masterpiece for the nation (of petrol heads).
Video series of the year on the Zagato Harry. Utterly captivated by this one and it's turned out amazing. Thanks for taking us on the journey with you. Merry Christmas to yourself and your family. Thanks for the content this year, all the best.
I love when you said "is for me". There's one life happy that you accomplished this, blessings Harry
Let’s celebrate and bless Harry for his individualism. Get q life…
Congratulations to you Harry, it looks absolutely gorgeous and a real credit to all of those who have worked on it - they should be rightly proud of their efforts. Hope we can see it being enjoyed in videos in the coming year! Cheers!
A job well done, for you, for the viewers and for whoever will be able to witness this car in the future.
We are just caretakers and it is an honour.
Congratulations, Harry, for your dream to come true in so many ways! I notice you title this "[the] restoration is over..." rather than the restoration is complete!!! It has been a long time, indeed, but the results speak for themselves. Happy Holidays to you and your family!
The team that put this marvelous car together has a right to be very proud. Or, as Harry might say 'right chuffed'! Magnificent.
This is easily one of the coolest cars in the collection. Congrats Harry and merry Christmas!
This! Is why most of us watch UA-cam... thank you harry!!
Fantastic Harry and that stripe turned out really well ! Happy Christmas !
'Panel Beater' is the most unglamourous title for one of the most amazing craftsmen you'll ever see! Simply superb project.
Harry, your love, passion, appreciation knowledge for this car and many others is fantastic as well as all your videos, car or farm, Your self, Ian Tyrrell, Retro Power are an absolute pleasure to watch. Attention to detail is fantastic. Even if the Zagato cost you £200000 you’ve bloody worked for it. Enjoy. Merry Christmas 👍🏻
What a great Christmas present for fans. The Zagato is finished and … wow 👍
