Echos have little to no Arch support, especially when compared to Merrill or Hoka. I would never even consider wearing them.
@@ellenh5253 Ooh I love their (Ecco) support for my feet. I hope you skipped over those parts.
Waterproof shoes question. I’m not sure of the appropriate Vessi size. Would you mind telling me what size Hoka you wear and what size Vessi works for you. I wear a size 9 Hoka Arahi and I’m not sure of the correct Vessi size-either 8 or 9. Thank you 😊
@@juliannemibach66 Hi Julianne, I wear an 8.5 in Hoka and an 8 in this Vessi.
@TravelTipsbyLaurie Thanks. Much appreciated.
I followed so many of your tips for my recent trip. I knew how to pack, what bags to buy, and what to wear. I watched many many of your videos to get ready in the months leading up to my UK trip. I felt ready, and I was! You are amazingly helpful and insightful. Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I truly appreciate it, and you helped me have the trip of a lifetime with my son!
I am so happy for you! Thx for the update.
Got my Eccos in '22 and I love them. I wore them all over England and in '24 all over Europe! They don't show wear and tear and are totally waterproof! I usually don't spend that much on shoes, but they are well worth the investment. I also have a pair of Tao sandals and they are very comfortable for wearing all day.
Ya never know. Enjoy!
Oh Laurie this is such an important video. Shoes can make or break a holiday! A supportive really comfy shoe is priceless, but throw in waterproof and it’s about perfect. I personally feel that Ara shoes fit and support my silly feet best from the footwear l have tried. You really are my most favourite travel UA-cam person. Thank you so much!
Absolutely!! Thanks for watching and weighing in!
Thanks Laurie !❤❤❤
I work in healthcare and found some amazing waterproof shoes. “Clove” shoes are great. They do not have arch support but when I wear for a 12 hour shift I do not even realize it. Love your videos. Thanks for all you do😀
Thanks for the tips! I actually love a pair of Steve Maddens that I have with no arch support.
I love my Vessi’s! I wore the same gray pare to Ireland a few weeks ago. They kept my feet dry and did not slip once.
Oh so good to know!
I also love my Vessi shoes. I wore a cognac coloured pair every day on a 6 week UK trip. Kept my feet dry and they were not hot!
Now I hate them!! Bought them for a trip in April, and my feet were killing me at the end of the day. I even have my orthotics in them.
I took a pair of Vessi sneakers to Christmas Market river cruise last fall and they were fabulous! Comfortable walking all day and kept my socks totally dry!
Great to hear!
I just got them for my trip to Ireland, they were great!
Love my Vessi's too - wore boot style all over Ireland with casual pants to dresses!
Laurie, I am an avid fan of yours. You have taught me so much about packing and travel. Just returned from 13 days in rainy Scotland. My "Laurie recommended" Ecco shoes kept my feet dry! Thank you! ❤
Rock on! Did you have any sunny days there? That's where I first had Indian food lol.
@TravelTipsbyLaurie only sunny in Edinburgh. My daughter was sad because her shoes were not water resistant. Try Dishoom for terrific Indian food in London and Edinburgh. Thanks, again.
These mentioned Ecco shoes (on their website and Amazon) are on sale 50% off right NOW! I just bought the Sartorelle 25 boot for $90 and the Soft 7 Mid top sneaker (in some colors) for $77!. Planning on a European trip in March...and should be good for San Antonio winters too! Thanks, Laurie!!
That's a great deal!
Based on your recommendations, I bought 2 pairs of Ecco shoes .... the low cut bootie sneaker and the traditional lace up sneaker. These are high quality shoes and seemed fine when wearing them around the house. But when I started really walking in them, I noticed that that both pairs have a hump in the insole just below my toes which ends up really hurting the ball of my foot. I've been trying to "break them in" and experimenting with adding cushioning insoles with some success. I'm glad I invested the time to wear them prior to my upcoming 3 week trip to Europe. If they don't pass the "wear comfortably all day test" they won't be making the trip with me.
I understand! Not all shoes fit our persnickety feet the same. If you do not love something, return it.
@TravelTipsbyLaurie I can't return them. Ecco only allows returns on unused, unworn shoes and only within 30 days. I have no access to any Ecco or Nordstrom stores, so I won't be buying any more Ecco shoes since trying them on before purchasing would be essential. At this point, I can wear the shoes but not all day. They may get better in time, but for travel, it's a no.
@@DC-pr2bq That's great! Lesson learned though.
Bought Ecco shoes and they aer my fav to travel in at the airport. Comfy and high quality. Have had them for 2 years now.
I do gravitate to that brand because they’re so supportive!
After watching one of your videos last year, I bought a pair of Merrill water resistant shoes for our July Alaska trip. They held up well on the few days of light rain we had. Thanks for the tip!
That is awesome! They are my favorite hiking type shoe.
I highly recommend Vessi shoes, I've had the Everyday Classic style in charcoal grey for over a year, they are definitely waterproof (and your socks stay DRY) and are very lightweight. Vessi is a great Canadian-based retailer I'm happy to support! 🇨🇦
Yay! Great to know. So is Blondo right?
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie yes, indeed Blondo was founded in Quebec Canada but I believe is now owned by the Steve Madden group.
@@MeMe-bs3tc Oh that's fascinating because I love Steve Madden shoes-for some reason they are very comfortable to me.
Hi Laurie,
You just read my mind. I am looking for a pair of water resistant shoes, as we are traveling to Europe, going on a river cruise. I have been going through your videos, for do s and don’t s and it is very helpful. We are leaving in September so I am not sure if we will experience rain here and there. Soooooooo! Excited. As always, very grateful for all the wonderful information 🙏🏼
Such a beautiful time! I hope there is minimal rain. When we were there in Dec and April, there was a 60% chance of rain almost every day and it rained once!
I just ordered my Eco sneaker, I hope it fits. I have been looking at it for years and it was on sale. Thanks so much.
Hope you like it! If you do not, it's not worth $1. But I love that brand.
I loved this one !! I was looking for videos of waterproof shoes for travels !! 👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶✈️🥾🥾🎒💕💞
Oh glad you found it!
Cheer~~~impervious to water.😊
I love your videos. They are very informative. Would you ever consider doing a video of how you stay in shape to prepare for some of the more physical trips (lots of walking and hiking)? I found myself not prepared for all the walking on my recent trip to Ireland (lots of hills!) and it was very frustrating. Do you follow a certain diet and exercise program that helps you on your trips? I looked back at previous videos and did not see anything. Thanks.
Hi Michelle! I do not-I need to do more cardio. I do exercise most every day. And I know I’ve gained weight lately-I hide it well for social media lol. But my knees would probably make me research how long or intense a walk or tour was so I could bow out.
I wish you'd mention the ballpark pricing as you showed these so i didnt have to look up each one. but thank you! I have tried Vessi but couldnt get them to fit me really
It takes too much time away from getting the info to viewers imo. Some things pop up for you to tap on so you can look at the info real quick while listening. Others are in the first comment and description paragraph for you. The teacher in me doesn't want to waste people's time with some details.
I love my Hokas too. Wish they were waterproof 🎉
I even tried Scotchgard but no dice.
Hey Laurie!!! Always love you!!!❤ I’m looking for shoes for my Dad for a family European trip for next year! Yay! Any suggestions from your hubby, maybe? Thanks!!
My hubby shops the clearance section at Academy but does like Merrell Europe looking shoes for standby travel and HeyDude.
I bought OnCloud water proof shoes. I have problems with my left foot. These shoes are so comfortable!
It's worth the investment when you find a comfortable shoe for travel.
I took Vessi white sneaker to Ireland and love them. The new black slip on was too narrow for me with the insert.
Hi! Am very interested in the green walking sandal you talked about in the middle of this video, but didn’t see any pop up link to it?
Hi, yes, some places do not allow UA-cam to pop it up. You have to look at the links in the first comment that I add. So sorry! Here they are and I LOVE them (they float too): bit.ly/3X2VWTW
Question - where did you get your pullover? Love it. Great video. I’ve been looking seriously at the Vessi shoes for my Italy trip in October. Thanks!
Ooh Italy!! Know that the shipping took around 2 weeks. All links are in the first comment and the description box under each video. It may also pop up if available: rstyle.me/+U2WYusIA5QNLA3GWKs1FwQ
Oh my gosh, I missed the blouse twice in the links! Thank you!
Does the sparkling fabric trigger when going through TSA?
Thanks for listing some shoes from Nordstrom as that is where I need to buy all my shoes as I have split sizes and Nordstrom doesn’t make me buy 2 pairs of shoes since my feet are more than 1 size difference. 😮
You are so welcome! It's close to my house, but because of their free shipping and returns, I love using them...because I am very picky.
Thanks so much for all of your tips! Wondering if you have tried the Sorrel brand waterproof shoes, or if you tried and didn’t like? Thanks again.
I have tried a few of their boots and one sneaker and did not love them.
Laurie , do the bottom soles have a good grip?Meaning slip proof in rain or on ancient marble walking surfaces.Comfort is important but I need excellent grip to prevent slipping and falls.
Thanks.
Hi, for grip I would use Merrell or trail sneakers. The ecco sneakers have no grip. The others I show you can see their rugged sole or tap on the links to see really close up.
Do you have comments on purchasing 100% Merino wool tees? I’m trying to pack carryon for 3 weeks. Thank you!
Not yet! But my friend loved Unbound. And it looked like a nice tee. Or it can be casual. And it felt smooth.
What up Laurie! 👍❤️👍
Good morning!
Any recommendations for a wide waterproof shoe?
Hi, I would suggest Vessi: bit.ly/WaterproofVessi
A real "shoe in"!
Yak yak yak! Love it
Hi Laurie, another great vid, I feel a spending spree coming on🤦
I'm soon to be going on a two week camping trip with my dog, have you thought about doing alternative packaging suggestions? Keep up the good work
Ooh, you don't need alot I bet.
I don't, but the dog does😂
@@glendahill😂😂🎉
We have booked a cruise to Fjords in 2026, but I’m hoping to find waterproof sneaker-like shoes from Sketchers. My hubby has some for golfing from Sketchers and loves them. TFS
Oh how beautiful it'll be!!
Great looking shoes, I so much want to buy them. Alas Australia's idea of a waterproof shoe is a wellington boot or hiking boot/shoe (not stylish for city sightseeing). Sigh!
The Blondo shoes are cute, but they don't seem to make wide width. Do you have any suggestions for people with wide feet? I have problem feet and a bad back on and off so I definitely need something with good support that won't hurt my feet and back after a full day of walking. Waterproof would be a bonus since I'm going to Paris in October and I've heard that can be a wet month.
You may want to try Vessi. But do what I did...order and if you do not love them, send them back.
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie Thanks! I'll look into them.
Can you do some dupes for these, please and thank you?
Hi, I already have enough shoes as it is lol. The way I would do it is the inserts I talked about.
Can I handcarry my yoga mat?
Yes but research your airline first. It mighhhhhht count as a carryon
Off topic….But please consider video about Medication and Supplements in Carry on bags.
Hi there is one 🙌🏻 linktw.in/YMwXpD
Hey, Laurie-- I'm a retired teacher and the little I've traveled has been mostly in the south. (I live near Nashville.) I may have the opportunity to go to Switzerland in the spring 😃so I've started binge watching your vids. I think I've going to buy the Level 8 Luminous Textured Carry On 20" (Olivine!) but it looks as if the actual size is larger than 20". I'm hoping to just take a carry on bag, but will this one be too big? Apologies for asking a luggage question on a shoe vid, but I didn't want to order it before asking you. Your teaching skills show, because your channel is great! Thx---
Check your airline. I found that when I flew to Scandinavia, that the carryon size was smaller than the suitcase I had. The European airlines have smaller carryon requirements.
Thanks so much and happy retirement still! Oh yes it'll be fine. Most airlines are 22" now.
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie Thanks so much for your help, Laurie! 💚
You stated you could get away with going into a restaurant with the the black tennis shoe ?? What do you mean you can get away with it?
Oh! Even though it’s a tennis shoe, it does not look like one with black pants and a pretty sweater or if you need to “dress up” for a dressy restaurant.
Most of the shoes you showed do not come in wide width.
Won't those sparkles send off the alarms at TSA?
Hi, they are not sparkles but just shimmery if that makes sense.
I have the same Vessi’s as you but in black however I do not find them very comfortable ☹️ My mom also has a pair and feels the same.
I can feel a little bump for arch support; I am interested in the slides too. I like them but will test.
This just loaded 1 hour ago and out of stock at the link for the half boots, the Ecco website didn’t even list them...?????
Are you talking about the black ones: bit.ly/EccoWaterproofBoot
❤❤
My Ecco sneakers squeak, I don’t know what to do. I’ve tried baby powder inside and underneath the sole inside. I’ve tried scuffing up the bottom. They still squeak. 😢
I have the same problem with my Taos. The powder works for about half a day. Very frustrating.
Oh weird!
Awesome video as usual! Have you ever done a video on dressy work shoes? I travel for business and no sneakers, sandals allowed. I can do a boot but love to hear if you’ve ever done “fancy” shoes for travel.
I have only packed dressy sandal heels for a cruise years ago. So sorry!
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie thank you for the response! I have used the inserts and that has helped and, who knows, maybe one of your viewers has a solution! Thank you!
@@Christina-wb6sg It's worth the time to test and try.

Sorry I need much more support. 😢
You can buy a bigger size in these shoes & put your custom orthotics in them. If you don’t have custom use whatever insert works for you like superfeet or powersteps.
I just bought 2 pairs of Vessis.
Mine took forever to ship and arrive but I like them.
