Going through a similar process now, my hobby space since I got back into it after a 20 year hiatus has been the kitchen table. Just spent 4 weekends clearing out the loft and replacing 25 year old lighting, I now have a basic space where I can leave all my kit out. Next step, extra insulation and some plaster boarding as its bloody cold up there in the winter, and installing an extractor fan for my printer and spray booth. I have got so much more time at the paintbrush over the last week alone with the space 20% done...
The point about keeping all your paints to hand is spot on. I keep my most used paints in an MDF paint stand and the rest on GW paint holders hung on a pegboard. It means I can easily grab any paint I need.
I'm fairly new to miniature painting but I've recently been lucky enough to buy some products and and supplies....now I'm working on getting a good work station set up....this video was a great help.... I always enjoy the videos... cant wait to see the new content with the new set up
Looks good. I just moved off my kitchen table to my office. It's now split between the computer area on one side and the hobby space on the other. So happy. Like you, I can see everything and it's all at hand's reach. Hope you enjoy your new space. Cheers
This was cool to watch. Funny enough, I'm celebrating my birthday today and my wonderful wife bought me some Warchest hobby shelves, paints, and a Tyranid Hive Tyrant. I'm amazed at how supportive she is with me starting this hobby, and I look forward to what the future may bring me.
Looks good, but how do you sit there comfortably, without having space for your legs because of the workbench toolboxes? @ 08:45 I dont see any space at the two possible painting places. Do you move the toolboxes for that every time?
I was wondering the same thing. Having to lean forward to the work surface looks very uncomfortable. I tried it just now in my kitchen, just to see what it was like and it was terrible.
Casey: I just wanted to say that your videos, whatever they are, are a joy to watch. Regardless of what you do, I always seem to find an idea or opportunities for myself. So thank you.
I'm going to move by the end of the year. Right now my hobby zone is just a mess and actually hard to get to due to that mess. When I move I plan on making a proper hobby room. I'm definitely going to take some inspiration from this video. I already have some of the hobby zone stuff (mainly for the Army Painter paints) and I have to say, it really helps to just have any color I might want at hand. I don't have it yet for my Citadel paints and those are tucked away behind the mess and I notice that when I need one of those, it really demotivates pretty quickly if I have to put in a lot of effort, just to find the paint I want.
Casey, your channel has been an amazing addition to my hobby repertoire, the podcast with you and Brent helps keep my hobby enthusiasm fresh each Monday. My friend and i often try to challenge ourselves with the hobby colabs and challenges we see on your channel. I can definitely say you’ve breathed new life into my hobby. Your new setup is amazing too btw.
This was a really cool watch! Really loved getting to see where to start and how such a setup comes together rather than just wishing to have something only ever identified as "the dream setup" XD Super excited to see more rescues and thanks for making such amazing videos I can wind down and relax with 💙
I'd also highly recommend Arttystation as a HobbyZone alternative. Same style organizer system, modular, flat-pack MDF kits, and probably a bit cheaper than HZ. Arttystation also uses a higher quality MDF that is thicker and has water-resistant coating on both sides. The only issue with Arttystation is they've been out of stock of most of their modules. Definitely worth a look at least
Watching your videos has been a staple in my drive to be a better painter, so thanks man I really mean it. I started by painting gunpla models as way to combat my depression that was effecting my family life. After watching your videos for almost half a year now I've even branched out into paint 40k models! I'm currently working on a Necron army from the indomitus set. I'd love to know what you think about how I'm doing but I'm sure you are busy and I realize you probably get that request alot. Anyway thanks for the help and inspiration.
Funny, I'm currently doing a model for a contest and I'm having a greater organization problem than usual as I've also returned to digital drawing/painting (I have a behemoth tablet as big as my monitor and I have to model on top of it with a cover). seeing your desktop setup, I think I'm going to get my problem dealt with before going on with my build(s).
looks awesome Casey. it'll be cool to see some new film a hobby work on your channel. I do have to say this is inspiring me to try to level up my hobby space from a level 2. keep up the good work.
I love seeing others’ hobby space! You inspired me to pause the video and go rearrange my hobby space - not much to change but it’s definitely an improvement.
Definitely desk envy there.....😳 Desk looks great, those Hobby Zone modules are excellent, bought some a few years ago & still going strong! Simple to put together & great for storage - really recommend them👌 Nice video, & yes perhaps you should’ve been sponsored...😆😆👍
WOW, it is so awesome to see how much your channel has grown over time and it is pretty cool to see your channel and workshop continue to grow, good job!!!
Really like the idea of the Hobbyzone setup (was looking at it before I saw your video) and absolutely planning on using it, but I'm struggling with what to use as the base desk setup.
Neat! I'm thinking of getting some nice posters for inspiration too - beautiful art to push me to do beautiful things. I cannot recommend enough that you get a spray booth, as you seem to be doing this a lot. Cheers!
Glad, that now you have so nice Hobbyroom, Casey! Wish you have your 40000 lvl hobbydesk, painted red to do yous stuff fasta! 🔥😂 Love your channel, thanks!
I try now a second time to get an answer, please inform me. Here my old question: Looks good, but how do you sit there comfortably, without having space for your legs because of the workbench toolboxes? @ 08:45 I dont see any free space at the two possible painting places. Do you move the toolboxes for that every time?
plenty of room, and I use a bar stool. My computer for editing and a bunch of painting stuff are still in my closet, so I still get good use out of that once I fill up my wet pallet with that I need for a project.
just discovered the channel and love every single detail of it, just a little suggestion from a linguistics major, do not restrict your channel name with another name of a site. I am damn sure in the future you will be much bigger than your current state, best of luck mate
Your voice was made for UA-cam, Casey. This was excellent! I LOVE hobby desk videos, so I'm glad to see yours getting better and better over time! Cheers
"...a space separate from other people..." Oh how lockdown with my family has shown me the value of this. YES. I love hobby-ing in a common living space, but really didn't appreciate just how much I needed the separation before the past year.
I think I made the best of the limited space I have, but I would love to have an extra room or even table (right now it's on the side of my L shaped table with the other being for the computer, but that also means I don't have any table space left) So a level 2 space then and I don't see any way to level up, without sacrificing basic furniture like a double bed, closet or couch
Great set up! I love the lighting you have there, wish I had the height to do the same. Might have to invest in some hobby zone stuff 🤔 Keep it coming man
I am really glad I took the plunge on the Hobby Zone stuff. Definitely worth the investment man. Huge pain to put together though lol. Can't wait to see all your new stuff up and running!
To everyone commenting about their wives and if they are allowed a hobby space - I guarantee if it's this organised you are more likely to get a "yes". We love boxes and we love boxes for boxes.
Use of a non-hobby related airbrush, one demerit! I want to see that dual action gravity fed airbrush of choice being well controlled, and used in short bursts to paint those walls trooper!
That's a great hobby space but the engineer in me can't help but wonder why you insulated an interior wall, it doesn't really deaden sound much but it prevents air and heat from circulating well.
That looks fantastic! One question though, how do you sit at your hobby space? It looks like there's no place for your legs to go under the hobby desk. Do you stand, do you sit farther away, or do you do something else?
Heh, yeah I get that a lot. It’s not uncomfortable, mostly because I’m using a pretty tall and adjustable bar stool with foot steps. For filming, it’s great, and if I want to sit down and watch a movie or something then I can take my wet pallet into my closet and I’ve still got all my lights set up in there for painting, so it’s really about using the whole space the best I can :) It does work as a standing work desk really well. I did put some cushy floor padding down. I’ve done that a little bit with base making stuff, 2 cameras going, I’m standing in between, really awesome!
oh yeah, this got me pumped up!
Rating on the scale? Of are you going to redo the scale on the podcast?
great music to accompany the built too. Very nice, *headbangs*
As good of friends as you two seem to be, I hope you have been able to hang out and roll some dice together. 👍👍
Goobertown hobby space vid when?
Piles of Opportunity.
That term makes me feel better about obsessively collecting everything!
Going through a similar process now, my hobby space since I got back into it after a 20 year hiatus has been the kitchen table.

I can't wait to see what you do next in that Amazing room of Creation!
Looks good. I just moved off my kitchen table to my office. It's now split between the computer area on one side and the hobby space on the other. So happy. Like you, I can see everything and it's all at hand's reach. Hope you enjoy your new space. Cheers

I like the use of the Ikea pegboard system. Been thinking about that for my area actually. Good to know I am not alone.
The Zebra Finch! I love those little buggers
Yep, HobbyZone, i love those things, have a bit of a setup of that as well.
That lighting and pipe system.... Genius
Looks good, but how do you sit there comfortably, without having space for your legs because of the workbench toolboxes? @ 08:45 I dont see any space at the two possible painting places. Do you move the toolboxes for that every time?
if they are not movable, i guess it will lead to some back problems
I was wondering the same thing. Having to lean forward to the work surface looks very uncomfortable. I tried it just now in my kitchen, just to see what it was like and it was terrible.
Yeah buddy! That's a great looking space. it's awesome that you were able to work it out so you both had a zone.
piles of opportunity. Love it!
Casey: I just wanted to say that your videos, whatever they are, are a joy to watch. Regardless of what you do, I always seem to find an idea or opportunities for myself. So thank you.
Looks like you can add "pretty good home handy man" to the list of skills
Haha, yeah, I do alright. I did have help with the wall though :)
I'm going to move by the end of the year. Right now my hobby zone is just a mess and actually hard to get to due to that mess. When I move I plan on making a proper hobby room. I'm definitely going to take some inspiration from this video.

Your new setup is amazing too btw.
Been using Hobbyzaone products for 5 years or so, always been extremely happy with their products!
This looks awesome! I especially love your little friend flying around.
This was a really cool watch! Really loved getting to see where to start and how such a setup comes together rather than just wishing to have something only ever identified as "the dream setup" XD
Super excited to see more rescues and thanks for making such amazing videos I can wind down and relax with 💙
Yes, the "Pile of Opportunity" Spreads!
Dude super amazing work!
The hobby work space looks great! Nice work there!
great job! Thank you for what you are doing for our hobby

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaan, I'm super envious. That's a glorious set up. You're one Luck Duck. Cheers from Canada!
I built my setup on the website and my wife said yes... LoL... Thanks for this. :)
Just finished my new desk and painting station, really enjoyed this video thanks for sharing. I’ve subscribed 👍👍
Ooof, mega desk envy haha!
I love me a massive work desk. Might have to try the ceiling rig. My craft/filming room is pretty compact

Yo that intro gets me so hyped every time lol
Hobbyzone stuff is great. Super easy to build as well.
Hobbyzone is awesome and like you say the fact everything is easy and accessible makes it all more useable as well as looking so neat =)
Great vid love your content. You always give me ideas and inspire me!
Definitely desk envy there.....😳 Desk looks great, those Hobby Zone modules are excellent, bought some a few years ago & still going strong! Simple to put together & great for storage - really recommend them👌
Nice video, & yes perhaps you should’ve been sponsored...😆😆👍
WOW, it is so awesome to see how much your channel has grown over time and it is pretty cool to see your channel and workshop continue to grow, good job!!!
Nice change of pace from your normal rescues! Wish I had a space like this too...
"Pile of opportunity"... You made my day right there! 🤣
Really like the idea of the Hobbyzone setup (was looking at it before I saw your video) and absolutely planning on using it, but I'm struggling with what to use as the base desk setup.
As Adam Savage said " A drawer is where things go to die." Good work with the videos man.
Neat! I'm thinking of getting some nice posters for inspiration too - beautiful art to push me to do beautiful things. I cannot recommend enough that you get a spray booth, as you seem to be doing this a lot. Cheers!
I'm jealous of this
I really like your new hobby space (and a bit jealous :D).
Also great music!!!
I love the setup dude. keep up the good work
Glad, that now you have so nice Hobbyroom, Casey! Wish you have your 40000 lvl hobbydesk, painted red to do yous stuff fasta! 🔥😂
Love your channel, thanks!
Im jealous!! That looks awesome!! I don t have enough space at home to do that 😭 hi from Spain!!
I try now a second time to get an answer, please inform me. Here my old question:

Awesome setup, my setup is definitely the 'before' picture
Do you have a link or web page for the ring light? Love that set up for increased lighting
That's a dream setup right there. One day I'll get a setup similar! I'm currently at a level 3 setup :p
Love the setup. I actually stole your toolbox idea and got one for my hobby area. It's amazing how easy it makes things.
just discovered the channel and love every single detail of it, just a little suggestion from a linguistics major, do not restrict your channel name with another name of a site. I am damn sure in the future you will be much bigger than your current state, best of luck mate
I find hobbyzone really cool but kind of expensive so I got the desk wizard , it's from game envy and does its job ! It's made of acrylic too .
Set up of dreams! Congrats dude!
Your voice was made for UA-cam, Casey. This was excellent! I LOVE hobby desk videos, so I'm glad to see yours getting better and better over time! Cheers
Looks amazing 👏 great job
What a legend you are mate
DAMN! THAT IS A DREAM TO ME!
"...a space separate from other people..." Oh how lockdown with my family has shown me the value of this. YES. I love hobby-ing in a common living space, but really didn't appreciate just how much I needed the separation before the past year.
Great new setup dude!
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
Great hobby space
I think I made the best of the limited space I have, but I would love to have an extra room or even table (right now it's on the side of my L shaped table with the other being for the computer, but that also means I don't have any table space left)
So a level 2 space then and I don't see any way to level up, without sacrificing basic furniture like a double bed, closet or couch
What was the brown wall mounting board you had there?
Great setup my guy
Cool room Casey ! What's more you can secure it from wandering little hands.
What is that sliding level stand you have in front of your photo backdrop?
Great set up! I love the lighting you have there, wish I had the height to do the same. Might have to invest in some hobby zone stuff 🤔 Keep it coming man
I am really glad I took the plunge on the Hobby Zone stuff. Definitely worth the investment man. Huge pain to put together though lol. Can't wait to see all your new stuff up and running!
What lighting is that? Where can I buy it?
Niiiice, sounds like Hobbyzone is going to need to say hello sir.
Gotta say, I love the music title cards.
So the pool table finally left?
That is my dream set up!
Did you frame the walll over the carpet?
Very nice
Awesome stuff!
Squidmar painting box you the boss !
how do you paint or airbrush the background for your miniature pic.? :)
I've been pretty tempted by the HobbyZone stuff since I watched the last Paint Bravely. Maybe with tax money.
Setting up the hobby space is its own hobby.
Very true! I'm always looking for something to add every time I'm out doing stuff.
To everyone commenting about their wives and if they are allowed a hobby space - I guarantee if it's this organised you are more likely to get a "yes". We love boxes and we love boxes for boxes.
I went to the hobby zone web site and they are sold out. No info on when it will be available again.
“Piles of opportunity” great phrasing
So we finally have a definitive level system from the Paint Bravely the Podcast?
As definitive as I can make it until we really get in there 😂 someday we’ll publish a paper.
@@eBayMiniatureRescues I love how it goes 1-5 then level 10 is ok buddy, you win hobbying.
When the paint gun came on screen, I half expected to hear "Coming in now with House Interior White..." lol
#TwoThinCoats
this is just good life advice in general
Can you paint a Black Seas Model? Or some form of Age of Sail model
Use of a non-hobby related airbrush, one demerit! I want to see that dual action gravity fed airbrush of choice being well controlled, and used in short bursts to paint those walls trooper!
Why do you use hairgel to assemble the workspace?
Have you ever considered streaming?
Do you have pictures of your commission work?
Good to see the return of the “hobby space Level” from the podcast lol
That's a great hobby space but the engineer in me can't help but wonder why you insulated an interior wall, it doesn't really deaden sound much but it prevents air and heat from circulating well.
Level -1 set up: the floor
That looks fantastic! One question though, how do you sit at your hobby space? It looks like there's no place for your legs to go under the hobby desk. Do you stand, do you sit farther away, or do you do something else?
Heh, yeah I get that a lot. It’s not uncomfortable, mostly because I’m using a pretty tall and adjustable bar stool with foot steps. Good job!
Dose this decks have no room for knees? Sounds painfull =\
Out of curiosity, why did you insulate an interior wall? If it’s soundproofing, why not use Rockwool instead?
