I’m glad to be listening to you good people again. I had stopped because of all the fighting. But like many I realized who was stirring the pot and just want to listen to sane sensible voices. I’ve subscribed hope you keep up the good fight.
To the amazing Headleys, much love and condolences to you. You really are a care bear Claire. Mike Rinder was an amazing person with an amazing life. So glad all you beautiful souls got together, it was a delight to witness. Rest easy Mike - you will never be forgotten. Much love ❤🩹
Hey, great channel. I've been listening to a few of your vids & some others trying to figure out why people voluntarily enter into what sounds like slavery. You said in an earlier video that they feel like they're saving the world, which is a pretty good explanation. I haven't been able to find any egs yet of Scientologists doing anything that actually helps people (or anything else like the environment). Ie other organisations run food banks, crisis centres, shelters etc. For all their tireless work, how do Scientologists feel they're making the world a better place & helping 'save' it?
John attack insight into the cultish religious experience is invaluable and applicable to many areas, I am thinking particularly on aspects of current popular culture on social media.
Thank you both for the interesting discussion. The part where Jon speaks of his friends research into fevor was very helpful to me understanding why I got in, why I stayed and even why I left. I left at the point there was no more fevor in it for me. For most unfortunately that is when the abuse has gotten so bad you are willing to give up anything to get away. And that crap about what ever is true for you is true. Really? And reality is just an agreement? Jon is correct, learning the truth hurts and it can be a difficult process but is rewarded with a joy that doesn’t wear off like the mind games ron sells ❤
Hello Claire & Jon! I’m bummed i didn’t get the ‘live’ notification. This discussion was interesting, as always :) 💜💃⚖️ thank you! And happy holidays 🎉🪩💃 take care - someone’s religion does NOT allow criminal abuse & neglect of FAMILY members. ❤️ 40:02 same with US legal system… the ‘wished for’ laws are NOT the same as ‘actual’ laws, requiring evidence. ⚖️ 1:00:47 Jon, gravity works on Earth 100% of the time 👍🏼 physics 🌎🌱
I always enjoy content from your channel! Happy New Year to the Headley family and a wish you many blessings and safe adventures in 2025! I did skip watching this video, however. I used to follow Jon on X and here on YT and enjoyed his content. His decision to attack supporters of the next US President as being in a cult ended my interest in spending any of my valuable time consuming his content. I value conversations with differing opinions, but in my view, he crossed a line. He did not say it once, but several times with strong conviction. It was the main topic, not just a passing comment.
I know Amy and Matt aren’t going live with a channel these days, but I saw a short interview with her today on Mike’s passing. It made me reflect on everyone I found because of the Aftermath Doc. Can you just send a message to the Queen Bee and let her know we miss her and Matt, and we know you are all hurting. Sending love to you all.
For Jon, rather than using a flatbed scanner, just take photos with a phone or camera of these oversized diaries. You don’t need infinite resolution for something that’s still legible. Sometimes laying a piece of Perspex on top of the book, can help hold the pages flat, just light it from both sides at an angle to not get reflections off the Perspex.
28:10 I was never in Scientology and also never in mormonism but I do know there are tens or hundreds of different flavors of mormonism. The full spectum, starting at Community of Christ (a decent church as far as I know) all the way to Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints which is led by Waren Jeffs, currently in prison. When you google "cult name" offshoot you easily find similar things for other cults or high demand religions. The different protestant churches all started when Luther protested against the catholic church. The Anglican church also is its own thing. I'd also say that within the catholic church there is a lot of diversity. Catholicism in eg Poland is very different from what it was here in the Netherlands when I grew up (70s and 80s). Islam also has different tastes, sunni, shia and whatever else. I'm sure Hinduism and other world religions have several subgroups. It's almost like people just start their own group when, for whatever reason, they are uncomfortable with what they were in.... ;)
I recently saw Jon get mentioned on Sorted Food as a collector of vintage Teasmades. Unlike Scientology, it was a technology that actually worked and arguably helped humanity.
Have you guys seen the Vilture article about Neil Gaiman, the fantasy writer who is now unfortunately being exposed as a serial sexual abuser of young women? Along with the awful allegations, it turns out that Gaiman was raised in Scientology in the days of Hubbard and likely underwent really horrible abuse as a child, and probably even put it in a book. It's very harrowing but helps explain why he may have taken a dark path.
I appreciate Jon very much. His knowledge of Scientology is profound. However, I wish he would sometimes argue in a more differentiated way. He mentions the Hare Krisna movement; no doubt it developed some extreme practices, especially in its early years. However, more than almost any other new religious movement, it has carried out some fundamental reforms in recent years in response to internal problems and external criticism. These reforms concern organisational, spiritual and social aspects of the movement, such as the democratisation of the guru system and the processing of cases of abuse. If Scientology showed only a fraction of ISKCON's willingness to reform, it would certainly be a different organisation. I think this is worth recognising. I am not a follower of the Hare Krsna movement myself.

Love it, would love to win a copy of his book ❤
I’m so sad I missed the live. I would love to read Jon’s book. I can’t find it online for less than AUD $70 😢
