What confuses me about Scientology is that they claim they are doing so much good for everyone…but these orgs are in cities and towns with unhoused people, hungry people…people that need help in a variety of ways. I’m sure members see that the orgs aren’t doing anything about it; the money that people are spending on courses and/or donating isn’t doing anything other than enriching Scientology! Absolutely nothing is changing for anyone else, anywhere. But what do I know? Little about Scientology, but I do know what it is like not to have enough to eat, to struggle with mental illness and being neurodivergent and doing the best I can with not very much money. When Mark and Janis and her husband Paul, left in the late 1980s/early 1990s, and Janis' sister left then too, that stuck in my mind as a watershed period. So many Apollo vets, and then the next gen of "new brooms" at the "top management" ranks had all themselves quit and been put into the "SP" category, it was disheartening. I was Sea Org from Dec 1975 til I quit in 2003, I lived through the tumultuous years of the old "top management" being replaced by the Miscavige era, and any of the older pre Miscavige era personnel who worked with Hubbard, always had a little more leeway in their thinking in some important instances. Anyways, when Janis and Paul left, and in the 1989-1990 tiny slice of time, it bothered me that Paul and Janis left, and Terri and Fernando also. There were fewer and fewer people who had a wider sense of not acting so horribly fanatical as Miscavige was acting. A losing proposition, during the Miscavige era. I so wish Jon Horwich could be interviewed, his life in Sea Org, well I wish he'd even let some informed biographer do Jon's life in the movement. I can't believe when Jon went to NYC to get some publishers' interest, they were not interested. So much for getting the details of history down in more detail. Maybe it's best to let this Hubbard mess evaporate on it's own, with so many other more important things going on in the world, obviously.

NOTE for Posterity: David Miscavige, the supposed "leader" of Scientology today, in all his years, has failed to train up on ALL of Hubbard's quackery and become a Class 12 expert Case Supervisor who can do ALL of the Hubbard quackery. David Miscavige is merely a bully one man paper pusher who's pushed away all the unnecessary "top management" persons from trying to fix this Hubbard megalomaniac mess which is the Scientology movement. If someone perchance read ALL of Hubbard's writings, and observed in detail all of the debris trail details of the Scientology official movement, your conclusions would push you to realize it's a long massive scam built up impossible to achieve mess. It's too many indians and not enough chiefs, and LACK of an editor to pair away the crap unnecessary. Scientology is a pseudo-therapy and exorcism subject. To do the quackery, you just need to read the key books, understand the basics of what Hubbard calls our "case" meaning our bad memories, and that the quackery is supposed to alleviate our "case" from us. The pseudo-therapy and exorcism is supposed to alleviate our "case." That can be done outside of the whole Scientology official mess, if one thinks that is a profitable path to follow. I don't recommend even going the outside path and do the pseudo-therapy and exorcism outside of official Scientology. But in this free world, if you want to know what the quackery exact questions are which are to supposedly alleviate you of our "case", well, you can find all the writings of Hubbard and the key lectures, out in the free world, to study and separate to the whole horror show official prison show of Hubbard's official Scientology movement. There are still alive a few official Scientologist expert quackery persons, who quit official Scientology, to learn from. But they too you will find, are to varying degrees stuck on certain of the Hubbard rules and regulations which are NOT good. If a future expert wishes to understand the quackery of Scientology, I suggest they study: 1) Subject Volume 3 of the 1991 set of the "red volumes" 2) Subject Volume 4 of the 1991 set of the "red volumes" 3) Search the internet, Wikileaks I believe has it, for the "O.T. Levels Volume" and read or skim it also That gives you the basic layout of the Hubbard quackery. That's "square zero", the above references are the massive sets of the operational "commands" and basic theory of the Hubbard quackery, if you wished to do the quackery, on yourself, with no one keeping paperwork on you as you do the quackery! I don't recommend that either, but at least skim over the above reference writings by Hubbard, and get an idea of what the quackery aims to do. Chuck Beatty wasted 27 years in Sea Org, the Hubbard official paperpusher administrative sub branches mostly, 1975 to 2003, quit in 2003, critic then to now, but also wishing outsiders do their homework someday, some who wish to become "experts" of this Hubbard crap.

I'm curious what is going on in Austin, Texas. My housemate gets about a dozen marketing postcards from Scientology for many years now. She tried over and over again to get off their mailing list starting around 30 years ago and she still gets the mail. Do they have a policy of never taking anyone off their mailing lists to make themselves look bigger? What is going on in Austin, Texas? They have a HUGE building just across the street from the main entrance to the University of Texas on "The Drag."
