I'm pretty heartbroken that the release date of Beyond the Spider-Verse has already been pushed out, with no speculative update on when they'll have it finished. Still, I really fell in love with Hobie after watching a video from Schnee about him. He is a character who is not only tricking the other characters in the movie, but he's even playing tricks on the audience. He's so easy to dismiss early on, but for the entire time he's in the movie, he is... basically organizing an underground resistance to Miguel's Spider Society. If you're wondering about the timeline of this movie from the last. It's been 16 months since Gwen has last seen Miles. It was a year before Miguel showed up with his universal traveling watch and then Gwen was working with him for 4 months up until the spot showed up.

The Director said that the reveal that Miles is the first anomaly is a meta-commentary on what led to the creation of the first Black Spider-Man. Some fans believe that Miles doesn't deserve his power or belong in the mask.
(Miguel shouldn't be spiderman, per this movie, because he injected some kind of sierum (?) that led to his powers. desperation or not, he could've choose. so he's a big hypocrite)
Fun fact: In the first movie, where Miles first met Peter from his universe and their spider senses were shown, Miles' had his colour change from Green and Purple to Blue and Red. Green and Purple being the colours of the Prowler as shown from this universe where the colours were mostly green and the jacket having a hint of purple.
Fun fact: This movie was first advertised as Across the Spiderverse Part 1 and the next one was gonna be Part 2, but they decided to drop the part 1 and 2 and rename the 3rd film "Beyond the Spiderverse". People who watched the first trailer knew this one would end in a cliffhanger, but not everyone watched that trailer lmao.
And the one after that will be called "Through the Spiderverse", and then "Around the Spiderverse", and then "Near the Spiderverse", and then "Slightly to the Left of the Spiderverse", and so on.
55:45 That's the whole story of the first spiderverse, the location where he was doing graffiti with his uncle was where Kingpin hid the collider and they were testing it at that point, that's how all the spiderman got into that dimension + the spider that bit Miles. Spot got created at the end of the movie when Miles destroyed the collider.
I think Miles rescuing Inspector Singh actually contradicts Miguel's speech about canon events; Inspector Singh would have died from the event caused by The Spot & Miles, but they are from another Universe which means they shouldn't cause a canon event that would effect Pavitr's life as Spider-Man. Maybe this will get explained/proven in the 3rd movie.
In most movies, the concept of time isn’t that simple. Google the butterfly effect and the chaos theory. Even if Miles + Spot weren’t there (which they wouldn’t have been if he hadn’t been bitten in the first place) it’s likely there would’ve been another event, in some other form, that would’ve caused the death of Inspector Singh. It’s really just the butterfly effect, it would’ve happened regardless at some point. The fact that this one was triggered by the presence of Miles + Spot (a villain of Miles’ creation) gives even more credence to Miguel that Miles is not only an anomaly but a liability.
Miguel's theory was off from bat because if Miles wasn't supposed to be Spiderman why does he have to stick to spiderman canon and why does the og 42 miles still have a universe despite not getting bit and his "canon" still remains intact (i.e his dad dying). I think it's safe to say Miguel only knows what he knows and took that as fact, can't blame him for assuming since he really fucked up with that other universe, but also kinda blame him.
@@xXTheRedrubyXx I've heard theories that Earth 1610 "reset" after that Peter Parker died, and all of the spider-man canon for that universe transferred to Miles which kept the universe from collapsing after Peter's death. I'm not set on any particular theory because the whole canon idea is kind of wobbly in general, but it kind of makes sense based on what's been established.
they didn't show tom holland spider-man in that scene because his uncle ben didn't die like that - his aunt may did... but that movie just came out and they probably couldn't get it in. but they DID mention him and the mess he made with doctor strange in the vulture sequence. sony owns all spider-man ip (they're sharing with disney and its mcu) so legally, they would have been in the clear. probably just a timing issue.
The movie was 2 hours long and yet it felt way shorter. When the "To be continued..." popped up on the screen, I genuinely wanted to shout "Are you shitting me?!" in disbelief. I even sat through the credits until the very end. That's how bad I didn't want it to end.
I love that there was no mention that this would be part of a trilogy. People legit were expecting a simple conclusion. But, surprise, The Spider-verse continues! Bravo Sony, for generating massive interest.
The entire theater groaned when it ended. We were all in disbelief!! I damn near cried during the credits. The song paired with the animation is so cool to look at
@@Zbeast5972 I had the exact opposite experience in theater, I took my little cousin to see it at her request. The entire crowd clapped, cheered, screamed positive aspirations. There was a good energy from my experience.
55:30 The movie doesn't explicitly state that Miles/Prowler was destined to be Spider-Man. It only insinuates that because the spider didn't bite anyone from Earth-42, there was no Spider-Man protecting the city, resulting in the cops being overwhelmed by the amount of crime, Miles' dad dying, and with only Uncle Aaron left as a role model, Miles choosing a life of crime. 55:38 The spider from Earth-42 was pulled into Miles' dimension (Earth-1610) when Doc Ock was trying to bring Kingpin's family from other dimensions into theirs, but because of the fight with the Green Goblin, and him pushing Spider-Man into the collider's beam, Peter Parker's DNA got infused in the process of opening portals to different dimensions, pulling Spider-Man related entities into Earth-1610. The Spot was one of the scientists who worked on that project, and when he explains his origin, he even recalls Miles throwing the bagel at him, when Doc Ock chased Miles and Peter out of the facility, in the first movie. The first movie has a lot of hints that the spider was from Earth-42, like the spider glitching, the number 42 literally imprinted on the spider, when he crawls down to get Miles, and the number 42 on the ground when Miles' tries to leap buildings, but falls and breaks the "goober".
The Spider from Universe 42 was brought over by the scientist that built the collider in the first movie. When they tested it, they brought over that spider. The collider was essentially near the area where Miles threw up his Graffiti art which is why the spider bit him there.
About Tom Holland's Spider-Man... They actually did some references. The first one was said by Miguel while they were fighting The Vulture(He's talking about Spideys who made a disaster between universes, and he mentions Dr Strange & Spider-man from Earth-199999, the MCU Universe). The second one was whit the Childish Gambino's Prowler, bc he's actually the Prowler from the MCU. He appears in Spiderman:Homecoming as the role of Aaron, and he helps Holland's Spidey saying that he doesn't want all that alien weapons around bc of his little nephew. And Tobey Maguire also appears, during the scenes of the "Uncle Ben's Deaths". There is a web where Uncle Ben is death on the floor, and on the side you can see Tobey crying.
The dialogue is so good in this film! The emotional impact during Mr. Morales speech at the party, the beautiful speech Rio gave to Miles, and the conversation between Spider Gwen and her dad always makes me tear up.😢
And it's even more funnier when Miles used the correct one minutes later. Everytime I watch that scene, I now remember her statement and it gets even funnier as time goes on.
Fun Fact: 38:07 That is Spidey from the show Spectacular Spider-Man who also voiced Agent Spider that Spider-Man knockoff from Invincible. Josh Keaton.
Seeing this in theatres in IMAX last year in the summer is still an unforgettable experience. And I’m not gonna lie, my audience was literally fed up when the To Be Continued popped up, but I wasn’t.

I'm sorry I need to tell this to every reactor. The lego scene was made by a young teenager from Ontario because he made a lego recreation of the initial teaser trailers for this movie and the creators loved it. Now it's arguably one of the best scenes in the whole film. It's such an awesome story, follow your passions!
Tom Hollands spiderman was referenced in the beginning by Miguel. He mentioned what he did with the multiverse in Spideman: No Way Home with doctor strange
I was in the theatre at the end of this movie, with my kids, and suddenly I realized that no way they could finish all of those plot threads by the end of it. I was awfully upset and grateful same time, because this left me hanging on a hook but we have a brand new movie to go ahead in this masterpiece of a story. And if, I say IF, they put in "Beyond the Spiderverse" what I thought should have been in this (aka a bunch of characters always connected with Spidey and the multiverse stuff in the comics) I'm gonna scream out loud, even in the theatre.
13:40 Bro really made himself "The Spot." The fight between the Spider people and Kingpin lasted for like 10 minutes, he could've left at any point. So it's on him really, not Miles.
Both films are masterpieces in art and film making imo but the more i watch Across the Spiderverse the more I find that I enjoy it more than into the spiderverse.
55:20 They mentioned him "That geek with Doctor Strange from Earth-199999." The MCU was unofficially called Earth-199999 by fans before Kevin Feige (head of Disney Marvel) confirmed it to be Earth-616 (the original comics universe, which became controversial due to the many differences from the comics). The concept of universes was a way to allow artists, writers, movies, cartoons, etc. to have an "excuse" to different stories around different Marvel characters. Implying different universes allowed the idea that different iterations were canonical. That's why you also had Spider-Man: No Way Home bring in both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield from different "universes." DC did the same as well, hence The Flash featuring Michael Keaton from Batman 1989 and even appearing briefly in the TV show as a separate Barry Allen. Before that, however, there was Crisis on Infinite Earths, which included different versions of DC characters from WB and DC crossing over, including Brandon Routh, Tom Welling, and Tyler Hoechlin as 3 different Supermen, even having Kevin Conroy (RIP), the voice of Batman for decades since the Animated Series, have a first-time live action appearance. When you're a comics fan and love referential easter eggs and humor, it all can be seen as very "fanservice."
This movie is the Empire Strikes Back of our generation - a perfect escalation of the universe, the characters, the amazing plot, and of course a great cliffhanger pulling you into the third movie of the trilogy!
The movie is so good at lulling you into not noticing its about to end or that they were going after spot cause you get distracted by the whole spider society and then miles trying to escape.
Now miles and gwen technically have two canon events to break at the same time 1 Saving their captain dads 2 if they do decides to be together they havevto solve the whole "in every other universe it doesn't end well for gwen" Or they can just decide not to be together and avoid all that
Ik yall mentioned the soundtrack being great & that’s because the very well known hip-hop producer “Metro Boomin” was in charge of the whole thing! He even had a cameo in the movie in the spider chase scene with miles running from all the spiders in the spider society; the spider with dreadlocks in a white & black suit that says “you have nowhere to run” before Miles jumps out the window & then says “my bad everybody, there was somewhere to run” after Miles jumps out is Metro Boomin!
spot says it at the beginning of the movie : spot created spiderman by bringing the spider and miles caused him to become spot. their stories are intertwined.
In the first movie when Miles meets the Spider-man from his earth, the senses are blue and red and Miles one’s were green and purple, the Prowler colours, which means in reality if Miles had not get bitten by the spider he would be the new Prowler in his dimension. Just a theory though
He is also the reason that Miles Morales exists in the first place. While he was in community, there was a whole thing that he and fans were campaigning for him to be cast as Spider-Man, which is why he turned up in the MCU. The creator of Miles in the comics cited this as the inspiration for the character
Yo, theory SPOILER ALERT: what if Miguel O'Hara is his universes Prowler - who turned spiderman JUST LIKE MILES, remember? Spider man doesn't wear capes, the Prowler does. He has claws just like the prowler and his anthem is EXACTLY like the prowler's just higher pitched. I think that is why he has such a grudge against Miles. I mean even his origin story makes the same sense. I would LOVE to see how that would work but yeah it's just a theory I had after watching the movie 4 times lol. LOVE YOUR REACTIONS!
Thought I'd be waiting ages for this one to make it to UA-cam! I liked the first one but I absolutely fell in love with this one. Thanks for the reaction 😊👍
Couple of small details about Prowler Miles: He has a more latin coded accent because he spends more time with his mom without his dad around. If you look closely at Spider 42 that gave Miles his powers, it was actually supposed to bite Prowler Miles before it got warped, meaning Miles 42 was supposed to Spider-man and OUR Miles was supposed to become the Prowler. If you remember in the first movie, Miles Spidey-sense went from Green/Purple coded (Prowler colours) to Red/Blue coded (Spider-man colours) because his destiny changed! Love the DonGlover cameo since he's the reason Miles even got written. And Yes, he is part of the Tom Holland universe since he was part of Homecoming where his character Aaron mentions a nephew 😏
As she said, IT ENDS BAD, just because 90% of it is with her death (obviously Miguel, he only showed you these so you think it's always the case), doesn't mean it always is. 1-Gwen in Spider-Man 3, was USED by Bully Maguire to make MJ jealous, but she doesn't die 2- In Spectacular Spider-Man she stays with Harry 3- Imsoniac has already confirmed that in its games, Gwen is not dead 4- Maybe we will see Earth 8 (in the comics Gwen MARRIES Miles)
53:00 Miles 42 was supposed to be that universe's spiderman. (Like the comics) Our Miles of 1610 was supposed to be the prowler. The first movie was supposed to be standalone and it didn't do well at the Box-office. However, when it went on Netflix it exploded in popularity. This is why it took 5 years. Basically, The writers Lord and Miller basically took pieces from the first film which were homages and references to turn into a story. For instance, 42 is a Jackie Robinson ref and Miles initial comics but now its turned into a universe. The spider gliching was just to ref multiverse, this is why the character of the spot had no reference in the first film so they turned a casual bagels guy into The Spot who was joke character in the comics and animated cartoon of the 90s. I just hope Beyond the Spiderverse is The Return of the King/TDK level great
Well, Miles was born in December... So if he's a junior in high school he's 16, close to 17. And it's KIND OF implied that Gwen is his age... As when she got teleported into his dimension she went to his school and into his class/grade. But it also kind of seems like she's supposed to be a little older, by maybe a year. Though this film implies she's got "a thing" with Hobie, who is 100% older than 18.
"Never did find the right band, so I made my own." You want in? Such a fantastically emotionally charged ending !!! Loved you guys' reactions to all those surprise twists!
This trilogy is absolutely shaping up to be the greatest superhero trilogy ever. I'm so excited for the new one. Also, the director described Gwen's universe as a "Water Color Mood Ring." The water colors change with the mood.
23:24 this scene constantly coming back is really such a huge allegory for being queer, its like anytime he wants to tell them he gets scared of what they might think, not saying Miles himself is queer coded but a lot of queer individuals can resonate with that part of the film and its interesting
Miguel's math doesn't add up because he tried to *replace* himself in another dimension and caused the collapse! Myles is simply trying to avoid the cannon events! Can't wait for the third one!
I legit just went to the channel to see if you had reacted to this yet, and then it was posted 2 minutes ago lol. Well, I keep coming back, dropped a sub :)
I like how Miles and Pavitr (Indian Spidey) were the only ones with an upbeat, I can do anything disposition. Miguel's philosophy of canon and this is a job had kind of soured the rest of Spider-society.
47:51. I was watching this movie in theaters with my best friend feeling something was off about Miles' return home & right before he started glitching I said to my friend "I think he's in the wrong universe," & as soon as it happened the entire room gasped while I went "yeah" since I called it.
53:10 That's the Miles of Earth-42 who was supposed to get bit by the spider and become Spider-Man. Earlier, when you see the movie bring up drawings in a notebook, you see the spider get sucked into a portal before it bit somebody with braids. The kid with braids is the Miles from this universe. I assume due to losing his father in Earth-42 that he ended up with his mom's accent.

@@robbob5302 Universes have different times, how do you know if 2 years or more have passed for Peter?
@@marianomartinez3008
Because altering time rates is Cheating with a capital CHEAT.
While I don’t know for sure, I am trying to give the writers the benefit of a doubt.
21:19 Meesh is actually correct here. Gwen is basically saying: "I know we like each other, but if we act on those feelings, one of us, probably me, will die"
Green and Purple being the colours of the Prowler as shown from this universe where the colours were mostly green and the jacket having a hint of purple.
that cliffhanger.. now you 2 know what everyone else went through on release night haha. we've been WAITING for a YEAR so far
"You gotta let him spread his seed!"
Come again? 🤭
Do not come again
Miles: I have two options in mind
Fun fact: This movie was first advertised as Across the Spiderverse Part 1 and the next one was gonna be Part 2, but they decided to drop the part 1 and 2 and rename the 3rd film "Beyond the Spiderverse". People who watched the first trailer knew this one would end in a cliffhanger, but not everyone watched that trailer lmao.
And the one after that will be called "Through the Spiderverse", and then "Around the Spiderverse", and then "Near the Spiderverse", and then "Slightly to the Left of the Spiderverse", and so on.
@@PhilBagelslmao above the spider verse
54:14 Every audience members' reaction summed up by Dee's expression.
😂😂 I was like… no way 🤯🤯
55:45 That's the whole story of the first spiderverse, the location where he was doing graffiti with his uncle was where Kingpin hid the collider and they were testing it at that point, that's how all the spiderman got into that dimension + the spider that bit Miles.
Hopefully it’s explained in the 3rd movie like you said! Thanks for always watching along with us 🥰🙏🏼
In most movies, the concept of time isn’t that simple.
@@Ahjusshi_Brown Spiders, not butterflies.
they didn't show tom holland spider-man in that scene because his uncle ben didn't die like that - his aunt may did... but that movie just came out and they probably couldn't get it in. but they DID mention him and the mess he made with doctor strange in the vulture sequence. sony owns all spider-man ip (they're sharing with disney and its mcu) so legally, they would have been in the clear. probably just a timing issue.
The movie was 2 hours long and yet it felt way shorter. When the "To be continued..." popped up on the screen, I genuinely wanted to shout "Are you shitting me?!" in disbelief. I even sat through the credits until the very end. That's how bad I didn't want it to end.
Sameeee😭 I even went back to the theater twice to see it again🤣 I’ve never done that with a movie before, that’s how good it was
I love that there was no mention that this would be part of a trilogy.
People legit were expecting a simple conclusion.
But, surprise, The Spider-verse continues!
Bravo Sony, for generating massive interest.
I'm with you guys/gals I was sooo shocked when it said to be continued because I was FULLY invested in this movie 😂
I love how they worried about the voices than the movie I don't even think they heard when he mentioned Doctor strange and the nerd back on 19999999
55:30 The movie doesn't explicitly state that Miles/Prowler was destined to be Spider-Man.
"You've gotta let him spread his seed!" She said enthusiastically
"let him spread his seed" is INSANE lmaoooo
Miles was five steps ahead of everybody else. While Hobie was fifty steps ahead.
The dialogue is so good in this film! The emotional impact during Mr. Morales speech at the party, the beautiful speech Rio gave to Miles, and the conversation between Spider Gwen and her dad always makes me tear up.😢
It cracked me up how confident they were about Pedro Pascal 😂
Nah fr 😂
Ngl 12:36 is the funniest thing I've heard today😂
LMAAOO 😂 it was in that moment… I realized… I had f’d up 😂😂

And it's even more funnier when Miles used the correct one minutes later. Everytime I watch that scene, I now remember her statement and it gets even funnier as time goes on.
Fun Fact: 38:07 That is Spidey from the show Spectacular Spider-Man who also voiced Agent Spider that Spider-Man knockoff from Invincible. Josh Keaton.
Seeing this in theatres in IMAX last year in the summer is still an unforgettable experience. And I’m not gonna lie, my audience was literally fed up when the To Be Continued popped up, but I wasn’t.
you can't imagine how it's like to see Arcane in 2021 as it's getting released, then this movie in 2023 with BOTH ending with crazy cliffhangers and the follow-up with no release date and years AWAY
I'M TIRED BOSS
Honestly the miles morales reveal as the prowler is one of the best I've seen in a long time.
She didn’t k*ll Peter, he did it to himself.
11:24 yeah, I like how the first half of the movie is basically a coming out movie
Miles reiterated his mums word to Miguel when he said he didnt belong, lowkey the toughest part of the movie
Tom Hollands spiderman was referenced in the beginning by Miguel. He mentioned what he did with the multiverse in Spideman: No Way Home with doctor strange
The story in these Spider-verse films flows so smoothly!
14:33 Because his dad is a cop and he has to make sure he doesn't recognize him
the Spider that bit Miles was brought to his world through a test run by Johnny Ohn (The Spot)
the moment that gave me chills in theatres was when miles says his name differently, cos his dad wasnt around
I could’ve easily sat another 2 hours this film was so good
Loving the bouncing along once the themes burst in. Keep on vibing!
Also, Loving the ATLA theme on the screen background !
Thanks for watching with us and catching the small details 🤗❤️
This was The Dark Knight of all animated movies.
“Let him spread his seeds”
PAUSE DEE😭
PAUSSEEE 😂😂
55:20 They mentioned him "That geek with Doctor Strange from Earth-199999." The MCU was unofficially called Earth-199999 by fans before Kevin Feige (head of Disney Marvel) confirmed it to be Earth-616 (the original comics universe, which became controversial due to the many differences from the comics). The concept of universes was a way to allow artists, writers, movies, cartoons, etc. to have an "excuse" to different stories around different Marvel characters. Implying different universes allowed the idea that different iterations were canonical. That's why you also had Spider-Man: No Way Home bring in both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield from different "universes."
DC did the same as well, hence The Flash featuring Michael Keaton from Batman 1989 and even appearing briefly in the TV show as a separate Barry Allen.
Since you asked, the guy voicing Spot was also Gideon in Scott Pilgrim vs The World as well as the mailman in Klaus
The movie is so good at lulling you into not noticing its about to end or that they were going after spot cause you get distracted by the whole spider society and then miles trying to escape.
Now miles and gwen technically have two canon events to break at the same time
1 Saving their captain dads
2 if they do decides to be together they havevto solve the whole "in every other universe it doesn't end well for gwen"
Or they can just decide not to be together and avoid all that
Ik yall mentioned the soundtrack being great & that’s because the very well known hip-hop producer “Metro Boomin” was in charge of the whole thing!
Seed spreading is officially Meesh & Dee canon now. 😆
55:22 Childish gambino is from the Tom holland universe, plus Miguel O’Hara mentions him and dr strange towards the beginning of this movie
Yay, thank you! Appreciate you watching along with us ☺️ we can’t wait for the 3rd movie to drop!
In Qwen's universe, the color of the world changes with the emotions of the characters in that moment. Genius design and beautifully executed.
Love how everyone who has watched this movie has the same reaction to the ending 😂
21:25 the sad/funny thing is that is exactly what shes talking about...gwen does die.
As she said, IT ENDS BAD, just because 90% of it is with her death (obviously Miguel, he only showed you these so you think it's always the case), doesn't mean it always is.
1-Gwen in Spider-Man 3, was USED by Bully Maguire to make MJ jealous, but she doesn't die
2- In Spectacular Spider-Man she stays with Harry
3- Imsoniac has already confirmed that in its games, Gwen is not dead
4- Maybe we will see Earth 8 (in the comics Gwen MARRIES Miles)
@@marianomartinez3008 ok bro thanks i guess
53:00
Miles 42 was supposed to be that universe's spiderman. (Like the comics)
Our Miles of 1610 was supposed to be the prowler.
I just hope Beyond the Spiderverse is The Return of the King/TDK level great
The vulture was the main villain in Tom holland’s movie in the mcu…
Well, Miles was born in December... So if he's a junior in high school he's 16, close to 17.
And it's KIND OF implied that Gwen is his age... As when she got teleported into his dimension she went to his school and into his class/grade.
But it also kind of seems like she's supposed to be a little older, by maybe a year.
Though this film implies she's got "a thing" with Hobie, who is 100% older than 18.
Ohh gosh the last part had me👀💀
"Never did find the right band, so I made my own."
You want in?
Such a fantastically emotionally charged ending !!!
Loved you guys' reactions to all those surprise twists!
"What was it the BRAIDS?!" 😆
6:13 7:23 Recognizing Issa Rae but not Oscar Isaac is insane 😂😭
This trilogy is absolutely shaping up to be the greatest superhero trilogy ever. I'm so excited for the new one. Also, the director described Gwen's universe as a "Water Color Mood Ring." The water colors change with the mood.
23:24 this scene constantly coming back is really such a huge allegory for being queer, its like anytime he wants to tell them he gets scared of what they might think, not saying Miles himself is queer coded but a lot of queer individuals can resonate with that part of the film and its interesting
Spider-women should be put on restricted duty when seven or more months pregnant.
Light villains only.
Nah they said at the end of the last movie that she’s like 15 months older than him. She’s 16 or 17
Miguel's math doesn't add up because he tried to *replace* himself in another dimension and caused the collapse! Myles is simply trying to avoid the cannon events! Can't wait for the third one!
Fun fact: 39:32 this spiderman is actually Metro Boomin, who done the soundtrack to this movie.
Not Pedro Pascal💀😂 love y’all

Welcome to the Beyond the Spiderverse waiting room! Current time: Unknown
My father caught the universe number on the machine when he activated it and called that he was going to the wrong universe.
43:41
Literally the screen say that haha
At 20:40, my vertigo would go nuts. 😂😂
The only complaint I have in this movie is that it ends on a cliffhanger
I love a well written cliffhanger tho, and boy does it have one.
You need to watch all spider man's movies Tobey, Andrew, Tom.
of you love this style of animation so far i REALLY really recommend Blue Eye Samurai
