Not to mention him actually shopping Gwen and Miles from the get go with the pet names (Gwendy and Peter Pan). I firmly believe he only stuck around in the Spider Society long enough to both make sure she was ok and to create a contingency in case she needed one.
He was looking out for Miles, but I think he was planning to undermine the Spider Society for a long time. From his point of view, they're basically fascists. Like a lot of revolutionaries and anarchists, he looks for disaffected and lonely or idealistic young people to recruit. He's close to Gwen because the Gwen of his world was a punk rock musician who inspired him to oppose the oppressive system on his world. She was probably the only reason he got involved in the Spider Society at all.
From the beginning he said that Miles wasn't interested in coming to HQ. He pointed out how creepy and authoritarian the whole thing was, and as they were traveling to meet Miguel, Hobie was physically blocking Miles every step of the way. He finally just point blank warned him to be careful what he's about to do.
For anyone interested - Spiderman 2099 is not a vampire. He got his powers a bit differently than most other spider people and in return got some different powers. He has fangs like a spider, which he can use to paralyze people (I think only temporarily). This is what I imagine we were about to see with the vulture at the beginning of the film. He also doesn't have any spider sense, which is why he couldn't tell the vulture was behind him while he was talking to Gwen!
yeah! He got his dna infused with a spiders iirc, its also why he has claws and red eyes. Im also p sure thats what he was injecting himself with when miles sees him, more spider dna
it's also why he didnt react to the renaissance villain sneaking up behind him in the beginning either when gwen alluded to it.. he doesnt have a spider-sense like the others.

"If not for Uncle Ben, most of us wouldn't be here, Myles." I think that's one of the lines that's stuck with me since I first saw this because Peter is 100% right. Most of the Spider-People would not even be a Spider-Person if their Uncle Ben or equivalent hadn't died. But what they all have forgotten and what Myles is correct about is that Uncle Ben's death could have been avoided. Becoming a Spider-Person means to do whatever it takes to make sure another "Uncle Ben" isn't killed.

I don’t think it gets talked about enough how well they made the spot a comedic relief and then plausibly turned him into a legitimately terrifying villain by the end
Every Spider-Man loses their Uncle. Then they go on to lose a police Captain that is close to them. They're 2 separate canon events. 1 does not replace the other.
The animation for this exceeded my high expectations, it was wild. But what really sold me was the soundtrack, it's so good, so memorable. The spots theme is terrifying!! Also, Hobie is the best character, period.

In Spot's flashback you actually see the spider making it's way towards Earth 42 Miles. Also there is a hint in the first movie that Miles would become his dimension Prowler, when he meets Spider-man (RIP). When they "spider sense" each other, Miles's starts off green and purple (Prowler's colors) and Peter's are red and blue (Spiderman's colors) and then Miles's changes to red and blue. It does make sense, with his relationships to his uncle and father, not to mention trying to get kicked out of Vision Academy
I get how the relationships with his father and uncle thing makes sense, what I don't get is how any Miles would work for someone like Kingpin. I'm sure people are right about Miles having been on the path to being The Prowler, but I think he would've turned the mantle into a vigilante that tried to work with Spider-Man. The boy was just raised too right for me to believe he'd work with literal villains.
Thanks for this, both very interesting to note! I had been thinking no Miles anywhere was meant to be a spider-man but now I see at least 42 probably was, so that's kind of insult to injury for him...
It doesn’t stop with just the uncle, the main version Peter alone also lost his parents, Gwen Stacy, her dad, Harry Osborn, aunt May (depending on retcons) and even his daughter whom Norman secretly hired someone to kidnap and kill the day she was born.
I like that they used Spot, a D/C tier Spidey villain to be in the film, as I always wanted to see him in a film. Now all I need is Swarm, Speed Demon, and The Wall to appear. I like that they went with Miguel and Miles to be the main focus, as they both are not "traditional" Spider-Man. I think Miguel got his powers from a genetic enhancement not a spider bite, so he is not connected to the web of life as he doesn't have a spider sense, and can't stick to walls if his talons can't stick, and has fangs that are venomous. Miles is unique that his powers came when there already was a Spider-Man, and got abilities of electricity and invisibility, as well as having a pretty strong spider sense as it allows him to see into the future, which was the set-up for Civil War 2 in the comics. I like that we see a reference to his future vision when Spot got his upgrade in the film. Edit: I was mistaken, as he was not the cause for Civil War 2 as it was an inhuman that did it. However, I do remember that he had some form of precognition as he was somehow able to predict that 1610 Peter was going to die before it happened a couple hours later. I just don't remember if they ever used it much in the comics.
Once you rewatch the movie certain scenes tend to make sense. Peter wasn’t trying to betray Miles he was trying to help him. But the watch tracked him down. Well in the comics Gwen is in her early 20’s because she goes to college but aged her down for the movie. There is a cinematic & digital version with different dialogue too. Miguel inject himself with spider dna so that’s why he doesn’t have enough Spider powers. The colors is each Spider world is based off their comic colors. They did a bad job with Ben Riley
Miguel didn’t inject himself with spider DNA. His backstory is that his drink was laced with a highly addictive drug called Rapture by his boss when he tried to quit Alchemax. Alchemax was the only supplier of the drug, basically continue to get your fix or die going cold turkey. Miguel tried to get rid of this addiction by using a previous record of his own DNA and replace the bad DNA with the good DNA. A envious co-worker saw him and changed the DNA to a spider - Alchemax was trying to recreate spider-man and Miguel was in charge of the project but was opposed to rushing into human testing- overloading the machine to try to kill Miguel in freak accident. Miguel survived but his DNA was now 50% spider. He has heightened senses: practically 360 degrees (but very light sensitive-needs shades even inside) and good hearing instead of spidey sense. Talons (claws) on his hands and feet. Can shoot natural webs over hand and under hand. And has paralytic venom in his fangs. The serum wrapped around his cells instead of changing them so I think the serum we see him use is to try to control his spider genes. His DNA was spliced in a freak accident so I wouldn’t be surprised if his DNA was unstable or that his spider genes began to affect him more/mutate him further. Perhaps mess with his mentality more. Ironically perhaps it’s a form of Rapture since it seems to bond with his cells.
I just wish they didn't cut off Gwen's original audio from the bridge. Also love how Gwen's senses acted up when she realized Miles was in the wrong universe.
33:22 It's really fun to see Mell actually recognise a reference and get *really excited* that he does. That's what I want from these videos, just Mell having a good ass time.
I’ve gotta say - you’re one of my favourite reactors almost purely because of your appreciation of the combination of what’s on screen with the score, and while Spiderverse of course has a great score but I’ve noticed it with so many other movies too
44:08 lmao people were mostly joking about that for fun to dramatize the fact that he hates Miles literally just for existing. It’s 100% a fanmade joke
@@アキコ2003wtf are you talking about? Disliking a specific person that just so happens to be black isn't racism, hating someone for the sole reason of them being black is. And if you were making a joke yourself it definitely didn't land.
cant lie this gotta be the best reaction ive seen. u were mad perceptive nd funny in some moments nd appreciated/acknowledged the passion, work, nd love thats been put into the film. i think i love this movie ? ever since I've seen it first in theaters, i have seen ATSV about 15 times. every thing was perfect in this movie, including its timeless soundtrack.
The reason why Miles drew Gwen more than his uncle is because he's got other things from / featuring his uncle. He's got photos, videos, memories. He doesn't even have a picture of Gwen and believes he'll never see her again, so drawing her is the only way to capture *her* , especially before he starts forgetting the little things that naturally fade in time.
Finally! Your reaction of the first movie must be one of my favourites, so I was already wondering when you would react to this one as well! And what an amazing reaction this was! Seeing you getting so excited and emotional almost felt like seeing the movie for the first time again, so thank you for the awesome reaction to this movie! 😄 Also, here's an interesting little side fact I think no one pointed out yet. Like, interestingly enough, no one in Miguel's team at the end actually got bitten by a radioactive spider in the traditional spiderman way. Miguel became Spiderman through an incident in which spider DNA got spliced into his while he was trying to get rid of his addiction, Jessica Drew developed her powers after her mom got basically hit by a radioactive spider beam while being pregnant with her and Ben Reilly as a clone of Peter Parker already got the same powers from the get-go. And another nice little detail! It's a little bit hard to tell but you can see that Miles' shoes are actually tied throughout the movie since you could say that tying his shoes was part of his character arc in the first movie too. However, at the end when he got caught by the Prowler we see that the shoes he put on are untied and when the Prowler shows up we also get a look at the shoes he's wearing, which are untied as well. Because this Miles obviously never ended up learning to tie up his shoes for the better as part of his character development, which is a nice little throwback to the beginning of the first movie and highlights another contrast between both of them. Also, another small detail, towards the end when Miles revealed to his mum that he's spiderman you can notice early on that something's up, because while the Rio we know has brown eyes, Rio from Earth-42 actually has green eyes.
This movie is pure perfection. Got my 4K Blu-ray on order as we speak, I cannot wait to see all the extras in that movie, and gonna pause the movie like every damn frame! And yeah what you were talking about what they were doing with Gwen's world and art style, they went with that watercolor look but the way the colors react, one of the animators said that she's like a visual mood ring, that the colors react with emotion and you really get that instantly. So damn good!
I loved how hyped you were with this movie. I came so close to screaming but had to remember neighbors. This film series is just a straight up love letter to Spider-Man. It is terrible Stan isnt around to see how much love is going into the character. But he knew the fans love for Spidey so he might not be that surprised by it. 24:43 unlike Luke Cage’s show, this is a Spider-man movie not a Miles Morales. So hes not really the Main main character. 33:38 i really really need to know WHEN date down to the second when we will see him and Miles in the MCU. The fact he has his suit already means Tom’s Spidey must be dealing with Kingpin and thanks to Hawkeye we know Kingpin is officially in the MCU.
Miguel O'Hare is the Spiderman of 2099 and in his time all the Avengers including Spiderman are gone. Unlike the other spidermen he wasn't bite by a radioactive spider. He actively spliced his human DNA with Spider DNA. In an experiment to recreate the original Spiderman and cure his addiction. The experiment made him much more spider then other spidermen. He has most the traditional spider powers except spider sense. He also has fangs that secret paralytic venom and claws he uses to climb walls. That's why he looks like a vampire
This movie is a literal work of art. Hell, the first major set-piece even takes place inside an art museum! The whole time I was watching Gwen's world, with the shifting colors, I couldn't believe what I was seeing.
Wow… thank you for pointing out the opera music. I think my senses were so overloaded, I missed that. There is just so much stuff packed into this, I’m going to need to watch it a bunch of times!
The Gwen with her dad shows hey she doesn’t just dip. They befor eher dad comes up that she is more tired/hurt than we thought she was, with her falling down after only taking a few steps. Her webs being out also takes away some mobility, as she can’t just flash run her way out, along with he fact that she is injured and probably couldn’t no bolt dodge and weave like a normal Spider-Man would have. Third and most probably, she wanted to tell her father the truth for a decent while now, and this was an opportunity that would force her to do that and get it off her chest finally
I took an edible before watching this movie in theaters. It actually enhanced my viewing experience, I was in complete and utter awe for nearly 3hrs lol
“That’s a fire shot too” I think every frame is a fire shot. You can pause this movie at any moment any every frame looks amazing, each one would make a perfect background on a computer/phone, or even on a wall!
Gwen saying that she doesn't do friends in the first film is now more understandable with the scene Gwen is holding Peter in her arms because ever since Peter died in her universe, she hasn't made a new friend but after she meets Miles, that changes
The foreshadowing at 48:05 with miles jacket being green and purple hinting that he’s the prowler is something I completely missed watching this in theaters
This movie had me crying man, this was just such a well done movie, like perfect. it had so much soul, and heart, and just some of the best humor and emotional mix.

It doesn’t stop with just the uncle, the main version Peter alone also lost his parents, Gwen Stacy, her dad, Harry Osborn, aunt May (depending on retcons) and even his daughter whom Norman secretly hired someone to kidnap and kill the day she was born.
The andrew and tobey cameo really gave off chills lmao
If we get the wall, then we better get Sam Jackson back as the umpire again 😂
We all need some Big Wheel in our lives.
@@nickv1212 I agree
I thought the future sight was coming from one of the inhumans?
@@AmericanBrit9834 It is? I think I might have misremembered something.
You can feel the love and hard work that was lavished on every part of this movie.
Everyone was screaming at the screen with that "To Be Continued"! I can't wait until 3. Watching your reactions were priceless. Thank you!
Easily the best reaction to this movie I’ve seen on UA-cam. Thank you for including the credits too
This is crap.
Fr man
Most fans didn't like the Ben Riley character in the comic books, so no harm in making fun of him.
@@tofu_golem true!! I was use to him in the cartoons since they do a good job on him.
I have NEVER felt a movies soundtrack like I did this one. Every song is a bop. Thanks metro, idk if you trust me but I sure as hell trust you lmao
I watched this with my little brother. He actually yelled "NOO!!!!" When he read the To Be Continued.
33:22 It's really fun to see Mell actually recognise a reference and get *really excited* that he does.
That's what I want from these videos, just Mell having a good ass time.
46:13 Yo that shit killed me! 😂
I’ve gotta say - you’re one of my favourite reactors almost purely because of your appreciation of the combination of what’s on screen with the score, and while Spiderverse of course has a great score but I’ve noticed it with so many other movies too
im so happy u reacted to the credits ❤
This could be your greatest reaction yet. FANTASTIC.
44:08 lmao people were mostly joking about that for fun to dramatize the fact that he hates Miles literally just for existing. It’s 100% a fanmade joke
Imagine making a joke out of racism
Couldn't be me..
@@アキコ2003 bro what are you talking about 😭
@@アキコ2003wtf are you talking about? Disliking a specific person that just so happens to be black isn't racism, hating someone for the sole reason of them being black is. And if you were making a joke yourself it definitely didn't land.
cant lie this gotta be the best reaction ive seen. u were mad perceptive nd funny in some moments nd appreciated/acknowledged the passion, work, nd love thats been put into the film. i think i love this movie ? ever since I've seen it first in theaters, i have seen ATSV about 15 times. every thing was perfect in this movie, including its timeless soundtrack.
Bruh both Spiderverse movies and No Way Home is the greatest Spidermen movies made. WORTH THE BUY, PERIOD
You know a movie is great when you are having so much fun and the cliffhanger hits harder than others
Honestly that was the worst but best cliffhanger ever
Finally! Your reaction of the first movie must be one of my favourites, so I was already wondering when you would react to this one as well! And what an amazing reaction this was! Seeing you getting so excited and emotional almost felt like seeing the movie for the first time again, so thank you for the awesome reaction to this movie! 😄
Also, here's an interesting little side fact I think no one pointed out yet.
I love how hype you stayed through this whole reaction. Seeing this in the theaters was amazing
Im so freaking hype for Beyond. I cant wait to see what they do.
“He hasn’t always had it easy” “I know, im black” got me dead 😭
This movie is pure perfection. Got my 4K Blu-ray on order as we speak, I cannot wait to see all the extras in that movie, and gonna pause the movie like every damn frame!
And yeah what you were talking about what they were doing with Gwen's world and art style, they went with that watercolor look but the way the colors react, one of the animators said that she's like a visual mood ring, that the colors react with emotion and you really get that instantly. So damn good!
miguel is fine asf , the whole internet thirsting over him is amazing
Have you seen them cheeks?
Don't forget the hyphen between Spider and Man.
22:33
Yeah. Gwen open Mikes collectible. But he destroyed her hair in the first movie. So I guess fair’s fair.
New Rockstar is always my go to video after a movie like this to see the easter eggs
These movies truly are a blessing unto animation.
39:28 Jeez bro was having a massive geekgasm😂
the most relatable title EVER!!!
You going crazy was exactly how I felt internally this whole movie. Thanks for the awesome reaction. Also just noticed the new camera you got
This movie is a literal work of art.
Hell, the first major set-piece even takes place inside an art museum!
The whole time I was watching Gwen's world, with the shifting colors, I couldn't believe what I was seeing.
Got surprisingly close with the ATM meaning for a guess lol. It’s Automated Teller Machine
By far my favorite reaction to this movie so far! I was riding your hype the entire time.
DUDE THIS FILM IS SO CRAZY. this was truly an EPIC EVENT and I loved every second of it
Wow… thank you for pointing out the opera music. I think my senses were so overloaded, I missed that. There is just so much stuff packed into this, I’m going to need to watch it a bunch of times!
Spot was always a really cool villain to me in the comics I’m glad they’re actually taking him seriously for once
Best reaction video I've ever seen from you man!! Keep it up bro!
YESSSSS incredible, you and this movie did not disappoint!
I've watched the movie and multiple reactions but I still get hype just from you getting hype >w
16:26 Reminds me when Miles got his powers and tried to jump off the building but instead chooses to go downstairs. 😂🤣
1:32 “He hasn’t always had it easy”
Mell: I know, I’m black too
This is going to be a good reaction, isn’t it?
The "wing thing"You love it in PS5 Spider-Man:2.
The Spider-Man who said “There’s no where to run” is metro boomin which is the artist for the soundtrack
Bro your reaction is so genuine and LITERALLY how I was in my chair lmaoo! We want more! Subbed!
I took an edible before watching this movie in theaters. It actually enhanced my viewing experience, I was in complete and utter awe for nearly 3hrs lol
Watching you watch this with such excitement was fun to see 😂❤
Finally a reaction video where someone recognize Spectacular Spider-Man !!
This one of the best reactions I’ve seen wit u Brodie….. this one and one of the Screams…. But it was the movie of the year for me.
Also fun fact: Gwen says leave him alone Ned when the jock pushes Peter in the locker
THANK YOU BILLY for convincing Mell to buy it.
Bro. That’s the most fire shirt ever… I didn’t even know they made those
Love the Tobey "Human Spider" shirt, Mel! Lookin good, brother!
3:00 bro ur really not using minecraft music there XDDDDDDD
This movie had me crying man, this was just such a well done movie, like perfect. it had so much soul, and heart, and just some of the best humor and emotional mix.
Fun fact: The chase scene took four years to animate
!!!!!!!!!!!
Looks like it took 4 years too
This might be the most genuine reaction video I ever seen lol bro was legit excited like the rest of us watching this masterpiece . You the best doing it Mellooooo
You smiled the whole way through 😊
Glad you watched this insane masterpiece, so worth the wait and can't wait for Beyond. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great reaction! Loved how much fun you were having!!
The way you felt about it ending was the whole theater when I went. I didn't even know it was a cliff hanger. On to Rockstar now hahaA
Nice reaction, When I saw Spot say Miles hit him with a bagel😂 I couldn't... That was some good bagel, guess you say 'That bagel is so good it hit the Spot'
Not seen the reaction yet, but was waiting for you to watch it. Aaah.
Worth the wait.
Brooo ur reaction is basically me when I was watching this movie in theater. Hella action packed film! I'm waaay too excited for the second part!!!
