Following Kyde and Eric is like having family in another country. Any time I hear about trouble in Japan I think "I hope those two are Okay".
Steve Smith I agree I always hope they are doing ok when things happen in Japan.
Yo I'm just glad you guys are safe and sound 🤙
People need to stay indoors and stop making extra work for others.
I just came back from Japan two days ago and I’d stayed at the 9 hours capsule hotel in Asakusa. I totally recognized all of those landmarks you had walked through. I was even commenting to my husband that it would be so cool if we ever ran into Kyde and Eric in Japan. Didn’t knew you guys lived in that area. We were in Takayama on Saturday of the typhoon and just got rain only. Thanks for a great video, we discovered you guys when you did the Myanmar series and we were doing our research. Every time we travel to another country, we would say “google to see if Kyde and Eric hit that country yet!”
I’ve been waiting for this vlog! I’m so glad you guys are ok!
Thanks for making the sacrifice of filming in the rain, I appreciate the combo of insight and vibez
The chunk missing from Eric’s ear, eerily matches Kyde’s teeth.
What are you suggesting?
She gave him the ol' Mike Tython.

Thanks so much for sharing. And nice to see the before and after!
Thanks for sharing your experience before, during, and after the typhoon! Good to know you didn't suffer much damage at all!
The golden poop kept you guys safe, for sure!
You roll the dice and you get a devastating typhoon during your small window being in Japan. I’m not surprised that there are tourists out and about. My heart goes out to the families affected by the typhoon. Glad you guys are okay.
Glad there didn't seem to be much damage in your area! The videos of the flipped car and whatnot were pretty scary, and I'm a fan of storms. Hope Kyde wasn't too disappointed, getting the typhoon, tornado and earthquake simultaneously and all. And Eric, that cut on your ear looks gnarly, hope it's healing up okay!
Been watching you guys since Tokyo Disneyland, glad you survived hagibis!
Hi Kyde & Eric ,thanks for the video , glad your both safe and well and your home is ok , :-)
It's breezy! 😄 thanks for the shout out lol
I was hoping you two would cover this stuff. Never seen Japan typhoons get this rowdy.
My fav channel on youtube by far
Btw, I'm sure everyone keeps telling you this, but the shaved/buzzed head with the beard looks soo clean, Eric. すごく似合ってw
Glad you're OK, dudes. I hung out in your neighbourhood during my first trip to Japan in 2018. Glad to see everything is getting back to normal.
Just found your channel. Enjoying the content. Thank you!
Glad you found us! -E
Thanks for giving us a little insight if the typhoon. ❤️
A sash is the sliding part of the door or window. To tape them means they want you to duck tape them shut so they can’t slide into the non-sliding parts. (Source: I’m a carpenter and a professional window and door installer) Keep safe you two!
Interesting, the door locks on those doors are incredibly strong so I'm still not sure clear what tape would do, haha. -E
My girlfriend (who lives in Edogawa) was really worried about me when she saw on the news that the Asakawa was flooding (here in Hachioji) but I kept reassuring her I was safe. Some of my coworkers missed work all this week, being trapped in Yamanashi due to rockslides taking out that chunk of the Chuo line.
Also, while it's not right near you, there's a really good Belgian restaurant near Tokyo station called like Antwerp Central. Really astonishing selection of Belgian esp. trappist beers, if that's your jam, and the course menu is delicious.
I'll add Antwerp Central to our list, thanks! -E
In a weird way, I actually like storms... although, there were some heavy ones back in the day. I've never had to pull through a typhoon. The most important thing is you are safe and sound, my friends. Cheers.
Glad you're both safe and the damage doesn't seem too bad in your area! I do love these videos, it's something I've never experienced in my life. Also wondering, did I miss it or isn't there a tour of the new appartment yet?
Haven't filmed it, hahaa. -E
Glad you guys are okay, and I freaking love that cat t-shirt.
love you guys!
glad you're ok!
I can totally relate to what Kyde was saying about being disappointed. I live in Florida and the way the media hypes up the hurricanes, causing mass hysteria at gas stations and grocery stores, only to be greeted with sunshine come hurricane day pisses me off lol. I’m glad no one is hurt and we didn’t lose power, but you do get kinda excited for nothing. Definitely something wrong with us lol
TriciaM 01 #yeahFlorida. But remember: WOLF 🐺 WOLF 🐺 WOLF 🐺 MICHAEL
Keep getting ready for each one! 😎
Anthropomorphic facsimile true dat. Ya never know
Glad your both ok i was thinking of you 2
Glad to see/hear you are okay and not really affected by it. Really too bad about the places that were hit hardest.
Was watching Scott Yuken's video that he released early Sunday morning walking around right by your apartment, didn't seem like much damage at all.
We have seen six tornadoes from our house, the latest was a week ago. When the weather brings its A-Game there is nothing to do but hunker down.
Wow.. What part of Tokyo are you guys at? I have a trip November 15th, should I worry about touristy spots being closed or flooded or is everything good now?
Thanks,
Everything is fine, don't worry at all. -E
I went through category 5 hurricane michael last year. That was hell on earth 165 mph winds with 200 mph gusts. It felt like knives were hitting my skin with how hard the rain was being driven. Kinda exciting though
O i just found this after a early night's sleep it's time for KYDE AND ERIC as i work on sculptural ideas with pencil and paper, still in lockdown the weather in April has been more like June great sunshine and very little rain and its ment to be "April shower"
Interesting perspective. Is October in the typhoon season ? Bit of a tangent , how often do you feel an earthquake in Tokyo?
Japan's Typhoon season is May to October. Earthquakes aren't that common, maybe a couple times a year. Sometimes more, sometimes less. -E
You two are the best. Glad the typhoon was light in your area 👍👍👍👍👍
Hi. Thanks for the update on the storm. I was wondering how you guys got on. Why would anyone put a thumbs down on this video?
People get grumpy about stuff. -E
I was there for this too,my first typhoon
Cool, that youmade a video about it 👍
Glad to hear you guys survived ! Next year's Olympic marathon will held in Hokkaido in stead of Tokyo, l heard ? All other Olympic facilities in Tokyo were OK ? Parade for new emperor are changed for later day ? Are you planning to film the parade ?
I think the reason they moved the marathon is just because of the intense heat in Tokyo in August. I'd doubt any of the olympic infrastructure was damaged extensively in Tokyo from the storm.
that is crazy !!! .. glad you guys are OK!
you guys are great!
Thanks! -E
A Sash the moveable part of a window made up of the vertical and horizontal frame that holds the glass.
Tour guide: "mind where you're going and watch out for a giant golden poo that might fly towards our direction"
Praying that you guy's are safe. Keep your heads down and let us know if your OK!
The storm passed a few days ago, we are fine. -E
I like it when Eric forgets English words.
Hah, I don't. -E
So glad y'all are ok. Should have taken this time and given us a tour of your new apartment.
Haha
Blizzard of 98 in Va..... whoop! Lived in Woodbridge, we got like 3-4 feet of snow!!!!
Did you guys survive? I went outside to Sumida River around 10 11 that bottom step where you are was flooded.
Yep, totally fine. -E
Every Japan-based UA-camr does a video on this typhoon. One thing you guys could explain which I notice in your videos: why are full-size umbrellas made of transparent plastic so common in Japan? In Europe, depressive goth black is the standard, often collapsible too. And a suggestion for a highlights video: the peeing turtle from Hong Kong.
I think it's just because they are cheap to make and buy. It's also nice in crowds to be able to see where you are going. -E
Glad you are ok!
I was in Tokyo before and after in the Ikebukuro area. On Friday, there was a frenzy in the underground food area in the department stores that got rid of all the food long before closing hours. As we were returning to the hotel, there were guests rushing out to catch flights there were still operating to get out or Shinkansen to their next destination ahead of schedule.
We already knew everything would be closed Saturday. The hotel already told us there will be no cleaning services on Saturday or Sunday, but the hotel was well staffed, and served as a safe place for people in the area. The restaurants were packed to capacity Saturday night. Looking outside Saturday night was just chaos, But then, Sunday morning....you can’t tell there was even a storm. The sun was out and the clouds were nowhere to be seen.
Sounds very much like what we saw over here. -E
Kyde and Eric I’m a big fan of yours and kydes butts.. how are they doing? Ok I hope? No damage ?
Hi Eric, FYI Sash means window frame, according to my wife who is Japanese.
We watch your videos all the time, and when we saw the notice in the elevator i asked her what the hell is a Sash, so she explained it is the window frame and when there is a Typhoon or strong storm you tape from corner to corner, down the middle, and left to right. Anyways glad to see you are both Ok. Man what happened to your ear?
Thanks!
I just cut it a bit cutting my hair. It's fine now. -E
i dont know about the arakawa river but part of the edo river through Tokyo looked quite bad. Im glad its didnt cause too much damage.
OMG! Glad you're Okay, horrible storm.
Glad you guys were relatively unaffected. Hope your ear heals quickly.
I live very close to you guys (in Hirai, which is a few stops east) and I was also surprised by how little damage we got. Edogawa in particular was warned very heavily about flooding from Arakawa but when I went for a walk the next morning there were some branches down in the parks and that was about it. I think a majority of the rain happened to the west of us and a majority of the wind damage happened to the east but we were in a little spot that didn't get hit badly at all.
Though I sure felt that damn earthquake.
Glad you were ok too! We were in an elevator for that earthquake, haha. -E
Thank you for your typhoon insight. Maybe your landlord could retrofit your building with storm shutters. Yikes!
I'm glad you're okay. You didn't show him, but I'm sure it's safe to assume Golden Balls was allowed to leave his post and come inside for the night.
He actually lives inside full time now!
3:37 was that a Jamaican accent? "Smells like I'm at the beach Mon"
Hahahahaha, it's just a line from Half Baked I think everytime I'm at a beach.
Eric's a cool dude he pulled it off. Any thoughts on reading the whole of Howl for a video?
@@kydeanderic BOYIEEEEE
If you guys did a series where you sit indoors on a rainy day and just talk random shite, I would love that. There's something relaxing about the sound of rain and your conversations together. 😂
Haha, it doesn't rain enough! -E
@@kydeanderic Come to England again. This time the South. We'll provide the rain 😂
I'm so glad y'all are ok! I agree, they hype these storms up more than what they really are, but for some places it's necessary. Where I live, southern Louisiana, we get a lot of hurricanes/tropical storms.
I'd rather it's overhyped and people are safe than an underestimation catching everyone off guard. But I guess it needs to be calculated, don't want to "boy who cried wolf" the weather. -E
@@kydeanderic I totally agree!
Go go YT algorithm go!
I like their Videos Mr. UA-cam. Please remember.
Haha
Hey Eric what are you doing for work now? just video editing? Any part time jobs?
Just editing atm
Wow, was that the golden turn right outside of your balcony?
Yea we are neighbors. -E
In japan, a SASH means sliding window consists of aluminum frame and glass panels. So, most of windows in houses and buildings in Japan are sashes except wooden windows in old traditional houses.
neat, somehow I've never heard that word used. -E
mainly used as a technical term in house building items and sometime means as window flame itself as "アルミ サッシ窓", "鉄サッシ窓". Normal people use only for explaining their house specifications as "我が家の窓は、全て アルミサッシ窓 です。
"
@@OceanZwei Got it! Thanks!
glad you are save!
in Beaumont, TX can confirm the weather after a hurricane is great. if you aren't waiting for floodwaters to recceed.
I was watching national geographic documentary earlier, I think it's called "gathering storms", I was very surprised Eric was in it for a few seconds. It was a very unexpected moment.
haha Yea, surprised a few people for sure.
Where did everyone go? Did they drive out of the city to hunker down in Aokigahara?
I guess they went inside their homes. -E
@@kydeanderic Thanks for answering my weird joke.
What are you guys doing for work aside from youtube now?
Kyde is a proofreader for a translation company. -E
Stay safe you guys!!!!!💜
Apart from the weather issue which I'm glad you are safe what has the buzz been like in Tokyo with the continued success of the Japanese Rugby team
People are excited, but it's not overtaking the country. I shot this after their last game.

Glad the Kleins are still alive and kicking!
Glad you guys are ok, mon I know the rain be hitting same here in Ja, being tall is not easy especially in watching the first videos, sorry nvr commented much, but you guys are awesome, blessings and "mannaz" whatever time you see this.
Oh btw lame questions what's both you zodiacs?
I don't even know hahahaha
A reason why Tokyo can survive strong typhoons like this is the _Metropolitan Area Outer Underground Discharge Channel_ (首都圏外郭放水路), which has the ability to massively divert a lot of water coming in from the Tone and Arakawa Rivers away from much of Tokyo's metropolitan wards. That's why Tokyo stayed dry while the rivers I mentioned went to very high levels in the recent typhoon.
Yea, that system is amazing. People on twitter are thanking the underground "shrine." -E
Japan has changed bro I remember the times watching your videos in the states you eating special menu items from like mcdonalds like the halloween pumpkin sauce fries. I been here 3 years now and it ain't here any more....whyyyyyyyy
Haha, I honestly don't look for stuff like that anymore so I wasn't aware it wasn't a thing anymore. -E
Glad you guys are ok, worried about you both when I saw the forecasts. You survived the Beast from the East in snow Glasgow so you'll pretty much survive anything.
Haaha
good you guys are ok ;)
I flew back home around lunch time that day...all transportation and highways was closed off from 12:00 on so it was in the nick of time.
Lucky!
@@kydeanderic Yes. I'm glad it worked out.
Kyde said in the video that she is no longer working. Please explain.

Eric always sounds so well reasoned and articulate, but then he wears like the most bizarre ass shirts. Love you guys! love the vids!

There I was thinking I had finally been recognised and appreciated. My standing in the world had taken a giant leap by a ❤ on my comment from Kyde and Eric. The dull drudge of existence and the endless struggles and disappointments of life had at a glance been swept away to be replaced by sunny uplands. My head was again held aloft and my stride was light and buoyant as I sauntered down the street, carefree as in my youth. The dark weight accrued over years of dismal failures gathered through adversity had melted away. I was free, free, FREE!! I greeted this new, warm, cheerful world like a long lost friend, with the effervesensce of a newly emerging fresh mountain spring after a long and bitterly unrelenting winter. Then, and "then" . Like an innocent foal who had just emerged for the first time from the gloom of the thick dark forrest, leaping carefree into the blindingly stunning sunlight to cross the highway that unexpectedly cut a swathe through dank woodland of despair, I was stooped by the cruel realisation that I was not the only one whose comment had gained; nay, earned, the prestigious sought after accolade of a ❤ from K & E. I was just an insignificant one amongst a plethora. Doom, doom, oh all encompassing doom spread over the landscape of my life. There, stunned, it was if a 1950s' woody, all oak panelled and heavy was out of the bright sunlight upon me. Unable to react, in an instant I was broken, mowed down, left shattered and emotionally hemorrhaging joy, the lightness of success and hope for the future; the antithesis of Pandora and all I had felt. Back into the dark recesses of a mundane like I went; a tear to be my solitary warmth, I stooped away into the cold reality of existence forever more until I remembered the rich thick bar of chocolate in the cupboard. Suddenly life was joyous again! Tragedy forgotten, looked on with disdain and insignificance. I was whole again, ready to stride the universe as a colossus. Friends say I'm emotionally fickle and take thing too much to heart? I can't see it.
Dave H You’re exhausting 😁😉🧖♀️

Do they use the warning sirens during a storm? Because that would be creepy, like an air raid or Godzilla or something
