Love the work, however raises the question , is it really necessary to swap out the L77 for the LS3? Your data suggests 2 100ths of a second difference. I get why you're doing it, to bring your car up to series 2 spec. Seems your blower, upgraded fuel pump and E85 tune will see the 10s easily. The 6L80E mods are welcome, a lot of us just don't want to go the T400 route in a modern car. How you finding the 3.7 diff gears ? I swapped out the 2.92 for 3.45 and now spend most time in 5&6th gear. 100km/h just under 2000 rpm - 1500 through the original 2.92 gears. On Sandown straights the car is slower than with 2.92 but punches on the 1/4m with 3.45. You must be doing 2300rpm at 100km/h with the 3.7.
+MrLincoln87 it seems from my experience that the car is slower at the top end with high diff gears. On the race track I was getting higher top speed running 2.92 gears than ok 3.45 - at 100kmh 2300rpm or more is just inefficient. Comes down to purpose of the car I suppose.
you are getting to the end of the track quicker, less time to gain speed. Same as if you have wheel spin off the line, you will usually result in a higher trap speed (and also higher ET) compared to a "perfect launch" you might use a little bit more petrol at 100km/h with the higher rpm, but will gain bulk efficiency down low around town. Only reason to go down gears is when you are running out of gear or hitting limiter at the end of the track. I ran 3.7s in my old L76 VZ (4l65) and will run 3.7s in my E3 Grange, two extra gears why not.

Why swap out the L77? It’s not really the same car anymore if you engine swap it. I’d love to see how far you can push those L77 engines
yeh, wtf was the point in doing that? Why even waste time in doing the first mods to the L77, should of just taken it out to begin with.

It's crazy that $35k worth of supply/fit/tune of upgrades don't get the SS into the 10sec bracket on 98RON.
8 grand in my fg f6 to run 10.8x on 98. e85 tune is 80rwkw more.
Yeah its stupid slow at the track. Was running high 12's in a near stock Toyota coupe 20 years ago. The weight of modern cars is killing ET's.

Did you have to change the ecu and wiring loom doing the ls3 conversion or does it plug in and just a re tune for the old one?

Rubbish times for a cammed ls3.. i was running that in my auto l77 with 3.45 gears and 262rwkw it went 113mph
and this is why Bathurst died. Cars!!!!!!!!! not family! i miss my hx
