Mac pro was actually made to be upgradeable, sure the latest one doesn't let you put in custom GPUs but the older ones you can put basically anything a pc can handle so long as it's compatible with macos.

apple silicon has the rather unfortunate issue of breaking compatibility with a lot of things that people like and depend on out there, those people are going back to cheap AMD hackintoshes until apple cuts all x86 support in about 3-5 years time, mainly because of the lack of PCIe card support. and then they'll either go to a windows or linux based workflow because apple will still have done nothing about it. they were selling people external gpus that apple's partners made, on their own online store a few years ago, and now all that stuff is garbage on apple silicon, none of it's supported, absolutely shocking attitude, the pain will be coming for apple when the only people who needed and bought mac pros, have no reason to buy the new one because it's useless for their needs if they can't throw a bunch of crazy nvidia gpus in there and instead have to just use apple's second rate in house gpus.

M1 macs kinda booty. At least with this one you can perform many upgrades, ram, ssd,gpu, expansion cards etc. Probably the last well designed Mac tower that we will get. That is unless Apple can design their own in house gpu (that will never happen)
Been into Macs since the early 90s and its pretty much always been a thing. But in the earlier days the components were kind of a gen behind what PC was doing.
I don't get why people insist on upgrading ram when it's the speed or ram that matters in day to day tasks. Just like your storage could be 8TB but if it's a spinny hard disk drive then it's literally of no use. And if you average data storage needs are merely 200Gb which is true for 90% users and with online HD video streaming it could be even lower now.. Which is why in such a case even a 256gb el-cheapo $10 SSD is 30x better than a $300 HDD with huge storage. If your RAM is 80GB but you run programs that don't take up more than 16 or 32 rest is unused and not necessary.. Your system has a ddr3 ir ddr4 makes huge difference and so does having the latest ddr5 7000mhz even 8gb ram will make a faster system than 80gb dr4

Braw probably will require some transcoding before you start working if you're wanting 120FPS playback while editing. But it's generally very very very good all things considered. It definitely pushes above its weight class in terms of cost. My 2020 Intel iMac with a core i7 10700K and Radeon Pro 5700XT is generally worse in Final Cut in almost all situations
It's not that much of an accomplishment really. You'd expect something new to beat something with an obsolete xeon server cpu. If you want fast, and I mean truly fast, apple is the complete wrong direction. Especially when a 500 dollar latepanda, usb powered project board beats m2 macs, on a 64 bit processor.

apple silicon has the rather unfortunate issue of breaking compatibility with a lot of things that people like and depend on out there, those people are going back to cheap AMD hackintoshes until apple cuts all x86 support in about 3-5 years time, mainly because of the lack of PCIe card support. and then they'll either go to a windows or linux based workflow because apple will still have done nothing about it.
they were selling people external gpus that apple's partners made, on their own online store a few years ago, and now all that stuff is garbage on apple silicon, none of it's supported, absolutely shocking attitude, the pain will be coming for apple when the only people who needed and bought mac pros, have no reason to buy the new one because it's useless for their needs if they can't throw a bunch of crazy nvidia gpus in there and instead have to just use apple's second rate in house gpus.

I don't get why people insist on upgrading ram when it's the speed or ram that matters in day to day tasks.
Just like your storage could be 8TB but if it's a spinny hard disk drive then it's literally of no use. And if you average data storage needs are merely 200Gb which is true for 90% users and with online HD video streaming it could be even lower now..
Which is why in such a case even a 256gb el-cheapo $10 SSD is 30x better than a $300 HDD with huge storage.
If your RAM is 80GB but you run programs that don't take up more than 16 or 32 rest is unused and not necessary.. Your system has a ddr3 ir ddr4 makes huge difference and so does having the latest ddr5 7000mhz even 8gb ram will make a faster system than 80gb dr4

Say what you will, every PowerMac and Mac Pro that were ever created leading up to this always offered insane expansion and upgrades that no Mac could ever match… and the fact that we have at least ONE Mac that can be upgraded through most traditional means is incredibly impressive. Granted you gotta pull some DOSDude1 stuff to replace the SSD’s because of Apple encryption crap but hey, it’s incredibly impressive that this machine is a thing. Even if it costs as much as a small house to own.

Can I use Final Cut Pro on the windows pc? Will I be able to Airplay or Airdrop things to that limited windows pc? Will the continuity camera feature work with that pc? Will the Handoff feature work with that overpriced limited pc? Will the windows pc work seamlessly with my ecosystem? Will I be able to use most of the Apple apps on the windows pc? Can I open Mac files on the windows pc, will the keychain password work with a windows pc? Will the copy and paste from one device to another work with a windows pc? Does windows pc have iMessage? Will the universal control feature work with a windows pc to my iPad Pro? Will the windows pc open Xcode? Will the windows pc work seamlessly with multiple devices? Does windows pc have Logic? Does the windows pc have the Bear app? Does windows pc have Pages? Does windows OS have the Notes app? Does windows have Numbers? Does windows of have Apple Arcade? Can I access iPhone widgets on windows pc? Does windows have passkeys?… No! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.

@@elitemeemoosood9869 Depending on the RAW format. Like ProRes Raw is going to be smooth as butter. Braw probably will require some transcoding before you start working if you're wanting 120FPS playback while editing. But it's generally very very very good all things considered. It definitely pushes above its weight class in terms of cost. My 2020 Intel iMac with a core i7 10700K and Radeon Pro 5700XT is generally worse in Final Cut in almost all situations
It's not that much of an accomplishment really. You'd expect something new to beat something with an obsolete xeon server cpu. If you want fast, and I mean truly fast, apple is the complete wrong direction. Especially when a 500 dollar latepanda, usb powered project board beats m2 macs, on a 64 bit processor.
