I have a v4, and I love the damn thing. it's decently light, tolerances are great, bottle opener is cool, and overall it's just damn fun to flip. Sadly I can't get my hands on 4.5 handles unless I buy a whole 2nd knife (I already asked, they are reserving all 4.5 handles for the drops, you can't just buy a pair of handles) but hopefully ill get my hands on a set someday. Loved the v4, and they fixed the very few problems I had with it! Great knife for a hundred bucks!
I've never had a balisong trainer before and I intend for this to be my first one. It looks great and I think it fits my overall style. Plus it's basically the world's coolest bottle opener lmao
I really love the rating system, but one suggestion for improvement i have is to factor in international availability as well. it is so frustrating, because i really want to buy a mako, but just can't bring myself to pay 25$ for shipping to the EU. it is nice that is in stock pretty regularly, but only in the US :(
Unfortunately it's hard for us to gauge anything outside of the United States, since we would only be able to factor in third party accounts of what their experience was, and that is so subjective depending on where the customer is from

I agree. From what I know and experienced only BBbarfly, Maxace, Atropos and CCC were available regularly, the rest is in a form of drops every couple months. Now there is also this situation with russia, so future availability of Atropos is also questionable

Tbh with y’all i hated the ranking format. I liked the old style videos where you talked about how it flipped, how it felt, build quality, went over the specs. Gave your thoughts on how it stacked up flipping wise to other knives and good knives to compare it too. IMO that was just a much more fluid way of showing off the knife. this felt like something i’d read on a forum. Hope the feedback helps. Keep the great content coming!
If 1 is the worst and 10 is the best, the average can be 6-8 and make complete sense if that is the average quality. It is just a preference thing tho :)
The tune on my gf's Mako V4.5 that I got for her was INSANE. It had almost zero handle play and not even a hint of tap. It honestly flipped almost better if not better than my Squid Trainer V2.5 too. The zen pin on the Mako unfortunately started falling out but squid having the amazing customer service that they have fixed it and I am now waiting for i to come back (and just so you know - I live in central Europe and they made the process seamless and CHARGE FREE). I honestly recommend you get the Mako because even if you have issues, Squid will fix them.
I purchased a mako and my main issue with it was that the blade is not heat treated and will bend if dropped. You can straighten it by hand but that is not a great thing… love squid but this is not their best product..

Next paycheck I'm going to snag one! I have REALLY been wanting (specifically) an orange colored Krake Raken but that color doesn't seem to be in-stock most of the time and the ants in my pants are both stealing my lunch money, and forcing me to commit to a new balisong sooner than later. Edit: I'm buying them both. I can't not have the Mako in my collection because I mean come on, it's a cute little Mako shark bottle opening Bali that will make anyone look cool in front of friends and family. I'll buy the Mako first as I patiently wait for the orange color to drop on those Krake Rakens. I'm finding it hard to settle for another color option for that blade.
The Krake Raken is currently the highest on our BS Score List, so you can never go wrong with it. The Mako is significantly more affordable though, but doesn't flip as well. I think buying both isn't a bad play haha
My v1 mako came out the box very messed up idk if they messed up the blade where the pivots go or what but it has a lot of sentimental value cause it’s my first actual non Amazon knife

This is just my opinion I liked that it was a sandwich design and even back when it had tang pins I think now its kinda just a triton I liked how it was different in the construction

3:34 I didn’t have to lock tight mine I broke the out of the box lock-tight I’m pretty sure and I never re did it so But I haven’t had any issues Maybe I’m just lucky but it also took ages to get tap (Dropped it from a second story onto hardwood)

Ive had mine for a over 5 months and i love it and im now getting ready to order a glidr original 4 and ive heard amazing things about it.
