Gannicus is my favorite fighter, but this scene was clearly meant to show the audience that Onemaus was the better gladiator. They would have had them fight without any handicaps if they were trying to portray otherwise. But Onemaus still giving him trouble while chained with a “sword” comparable to a king dagger and no armor, shows us that has the fight been on even terms. Gannicus would have been slain. They needed to keep Gannicus alive to make the history accurate, since Gannicus plays a bigger part later on in the real life incident
Obviously Onemeus is not an easy opponent even if he is chained, on the other hand he threw Gannicus off balance when he told him that he knew about his wife, Gannicus came with the idea of giving Onemeus a dignified death, not a quick one worthy of a gladiator, but the truth is that Gannicus had no intention of killing him, so I don't think Oenamaus is stronger.
@@ZcrefeWill you people stop with your headcannon. Doctore had him even with those chains and somebody interrupted the finishing blow. He is clearly superior
Love them both , don’t hate on Gannicus….no one knows who would prevail in fair conditions…What about the giant Gannicus killed in The Primus? The only one with the size, strength, and skill to maybe be able to defeat The Albino bigger giant. Spartacus vs Primus dude? And Spartacus is the only one out of the big three Gannicus, Oenemus, Spartacus that had almost zero problems with the mad Egyptian and would have killed him instantly if not for reinforcements. Some peeps don’t match up with others. Onemeus i love as much as Gannicus and Spartacus for his calm demeanor hiding an absolute beast and his strong commitment to honor of his brother gladiators and Bateus Ludus. I didn’t like Gannicus betrayal after forced romp with O’s wife but when in Rome? Just glad they bonded after.
Incredible fight scene anyway. Gannicis had probs with the tall lanky Egyptian and Oenemeus has same build so you may be right and my previous post wrong. Add Oenemus fighting for his dead wife’s honor while Gannicus was racked with guilt and that adds more fire to your argument.
@@keloebarnes3738Bro it’s not a maybe. The entire point of having Onemaus handicapper for this fight was to show that even handicapped, he would be Ganniscus equal, which is obviously meant to imply that if he was 100% strength, he would kill him. If the writers intended for them to be equals, they would have had them fight on equal terms.
Its so weird that in Gods of the Arena we didnt get to see prime Oenameus. If anything they shitted on his character making his best friend sleep with his wife. Batiatus was a great villain but I felt like they crossed the line with that one, considering how they grew up together and what Oenameus did for the ludus.
I didn’t like the betrayal part maybe it’s all they had come up with to make Gannicus join Spartacus’ doomed but awesome cause. Love O and the actor that plays him and just his voice resonates with calmness and respect or something.
Gannicus who thrives and fights with mad emotions laughing where others are afraid…. was hamstrung by guilt. One can never count out Gannicus against anyone and all. Forced to kill brothers…
I love Gannicus's attire and his double sword skill.
03:54 ganicus jump without sword in his left hands then landed with sword?😮😮😮😮
this is amazing.
Great upload ! Thankyou :)

Not entirely untrue but I think it’s also worth noting Gannicus was conflicted. Didn’t want to kill his brother.

Gracias desde España.
oenomaus hands were chained and his sword was also damaged, he was wounded too by ashur otherwise he would have sent gannicus to afterlife.

On fair fight remember the Egyptian who killed oenomaus.. but gannicus made sure he is dead by force😂
Omj this music goes incredible with this scene…

I agree what was the point of having Gannicus sleep with his wife?
Nice composition 🫶
Crixus dropping mad love lessons to teacher Oenemus…”she is my heart..”, “she lives…. that is all that matters” … powerful stuff.
Ty for this video😊
How did Gannicus get two swords again after Oenemus knocked one out?
It was a wooden knife, which is his prove of freedom, not a sword
That sword which fell off was the wooden one which is symbol of him being a free man and not a slave
Which episode?
Gannnicus was zero motivated and Oenomaus was fully enraged
This match is not good for comparisons

Gannicus won nothing.
Did you even watch the show?
