my adhd honestly makes me too impulsive. I end up buying and then later thinking about it. I throw it away out of guilt, and then later I end up buying it again.
Sitting in my craft studio, looking at the zillions of things I’ve bought over the years. i’m 63 now, and I am so sorry I wasted so much time and money and space on all this stuff.
Just think though...You can donate it to a school or a senior center and use your space for creative dance or yoga or you can make the space a peaceful prayer/ meditation room ❤
I’m 41 and it’s not crafts- it’s just everything else. I have so much stuff. Decluttering is uncovering so much with myself. Sigh. I can’t wait to be done and free and it’s making a no buy year easy! (She says on day 8) 😊
I did the same thing with scrapbooking. I have a ton of beautiful albums I made that cost a fortune and mean absolutely nothing to anyone at this point, not even me. I really didn’t even enjoy making them all that much, it felt more like an obligation for some reason. I gave away all the supplies and tools awhile ago. I still been haven’t able to get rid of the actual albums yet though.
I've said it before & I will say it again. Josh, I am extremely grateful that you guys have chosen not to have advertising on your podcast! Thank you, thank you, thank you! 😃🙏👍
The biggest factor for me is. "Do I really need this?" And then, okay if I do, am I sure I don't already have one or something else that can do what I think I need this for? You mentioned Patagonia - and I agree, a good company who makes quality products that last, but we have to be really careful about how a company markets themselves - authentic - easy to say, not easy to do. Many companies talk the talk, and that's that! Unfortunately a lot of people buy into the marketing without really looking at how a company operates.
Currently undergoing a transition in my life, questioning everything I was exposed to growing up.. Always knew there was more to life than just to have a superficial life through social media, and this new generation.. Going down the journey of becoming minimalist.. now I know I don't want to be frugal but "minimalist" thanks for all the insight guys!
I’m in the metro listening to this episode. This is the exact same question I have except I’m already in marketing in the tech industry. The first 10 mins are already insightful and valuable. Thank you!
I wonder if the pink cups will be discussed in this episode. 😅😂 As for marketing, there are different creative collectives that try to help artists and advertisers align with clients that share their values. There is a group called "Clean Creatives" for instance , who will not take clients from big oil, gas, or coal, or any fossil fuel clients who want to promote their industry or greenwash themselves for PR.
You need to sleep! Not sleeping is like letting your brain become constipated. Sleeping is how your brain gets rid of metabolic wastes during the day. (And then your body can hea when youre lying still) I told my cousin this so she wouldnt be on her phone late at night and you know how 12 year olds get amazed at new facts lol. I hope she tells her friends who are also online a lot.
I have a question, should kids aged 6 onwards deserve high quality stuff? Example my friend went out and got his son age 6 a PS5 for Christmas, I said he didn’t deserve it am I wrong?
What factors do you consider before making a purchase?

I’ve learned to ask myself “Where is it gonna live in my home?” Before making a purchase.
I look at the price first, then I ask myself if I really NEED this. If not, I won't buy it.
My factors....do I really need it or will it improve my life or circumstances, is it quality, is it reasonably priced.
I live in a 180 sq ft tiny home. If it's not something I'm going to use every day, it doesn't get bought 👍

Where’s Nikodemus been???
Haven’t watched in a few months but where is Ryan? Is he still a member of the Minimalists?
He moved to Montana but still makes appearances on a screen or phone call.He will always be a minimalist member ❤
Yes! He was on a phone call on last week's episode.
I just hope I can join once of your symposiums if in any case you'd have one here in the Philippines. Cheers!
