I started pulling the seals on my new Chinese bearings years ago due to cheap and sparse amounts of grease. Hopefully it's not too late for that one. It's a bummer that you probably need to take apart a new tool to properly grease the bearings.
I think it will be ok. Luckily I recognized what it was doing and quit using it. The grease was weird because brake cleaner didn't immediately dissolve the old grease. I had to get a small pick and kind of dig out the old grease. It almost felt like a very very fine grit. Once I had it all cleaned and repacked with some good quality grease it was as smooth as glass.
