- In this video I'm going to showcase some less-known or hidden item effects that some people may not know about. The goal is to raise awareness about new item effects introduced in Repentance and to teach newer players about some older ones.

I always thought that the bloody bombs taking hearts wasn't necessarily a secret, just the item's main ability.
Same with clicker
It was a secret to me until I accidentally pressed the bomb button when I had no bombs... As tainted lost.

Considering bloody bombs looks a lot like IV bag, I'd bet that was it's main function, just nobody knows it exists because people don't try to use bombs at zero bombs normally

7:20 I love the fact when you pick up tmtrainer it causes all enemies to freeze and burn. The reason this happens is due to how it worked in gen 1 pokemon. When you activated tmtrainer effect in a battle by a glitch move, the music fades, the pokemon is frozen solid and the game states that tmtrainer is frozen solid and is hurt by the burn. When that happens the Pokémon's health us drastically increased and slowly goes downs and the health is wrapped around a few times. This should always kill it.

Kind of hard to see the example with Yum Heart (around 4:00) when you're covering the second character's health. Still pretty neat though!
While the Left Hand causes the chests in The Chest to contain Devil Deal items, Gilded Key will do the opposite in the Dark Room. The starting chests will contain regular items.
I guess it's cause the chest count as the same stage level, and the rule for starting room chests applies to the whole stage rather than the specific variation of it.

@@dany-chipsoriginally it would delete the enemy instead of the mama mega explosion, allowing to cheese fights like the beast
The sharp key also allows you to open chests spawned with the item "options?" and open them without despawning the other reward.
Key wisps from Book of Virtues + Dad's Key follow the same rule.
The broken padlock trinket also allows you to do that, just with a bomb instead of a key.
@@ThEjOkErIsWiLd00 Relatedly, stone chests spawned with "options?" won't despawn their counterpart even when opened, presumably because explosions don't register as the "player chose this item" flag like bumping into chests normally would
Same thing applies to haunted chests
Magneto also does that
If you use "The Lovers?" card as Keeper or T. Keeper, you gain a Broken Coin Heart, which takes up one of the precious few HP slots you can have as those characters. It's definitely one of the rarer heart variants

Get greeds gullet you can get like 18 coin hearts
If you are in berserker mode Found Soul will be inmortal until the effect end
This doesn’t just apply to found soul, it also applies to the player.
Found Soul is essentialy coded like a second player with everything you have except for health.

I think the same applies with holy mantle (i think) but one time i fkund found soul as lost and i was confsued when it had a holy mantle sheild when i forgot i was lost

9:54: Hallowed ground aura gives cone head effect. It means that if you have cone head item, you can ignore damage from demon beggars and Blood donation machine (And any damage source in the game, in fact)

The effect is the same as cone head but with a higher chance.
Star of bethelem also gives you this effect.
Yeah, the chance for hallowed ground is higher, I meant the origin of effect itself
I definitely knew about the blood bombs one, back when it was Antibirth, I was playing the lost and I accidentally hit the bomb button and died.

In coop mode, you can use mom’s bracelet to pick up tainted forgotten’s skeleton as a different character.
Something interesting I found out recently- holding petrified poop grants poop related enemies a chance of spawning a coin or heart when killed. I only got to test it on dips, squirts and Dingle, so I can say it works for them, but can’t confirm any others- though I don’t know why they’d be different.
Ngl pet. Poop should also do that for Cloggies too
Petrified Poop does not provide such an effect. You might be confusing it with something else.

With each use of lemegeton, the found soul will receive a wisp of his own (if you have him of course). Although, the found soul's wisps have no effect other than being good defense. For some reason book of virtues doesn't do this at all.

The poop synergies with Hallowed Ground, Mecomium and Midas touch to spawn different poop varieties when used

Gnawed Leaf's invulnerability carries over to the soul side of Tainted Forgotten if the skeleton isn't being thrown and isn't swinging its club. This also means that you can hold the skeleton and/or move around without taking damage.

Box of freinds gives demon baby with no familiars
The chance to negate hits stack with hallowed ground do if you leave the room and reenter the room and keep using the demon beggar then you get almost infinite uses

tainted lillith and gello also have a similar interaction with cursed eye as marked, in fact you can combine both for a even more insane fire rate!
How To Jump will reset the fuse on the bomb form of Tainted Forgotten (such as in the Hot Potato challenge). Useful if you need some better timing on the explosion loop or just want to carry the skeleton without needing to constantly throw it around.
The golden mama mega also worked pre rep but just didn't change sprite
With book of virtues, and safety scissors, you can essentially do it infinitely.
I'm assuming when picking up golden for golden mama...the golden (if gone unused) will disappear when entering a new floor?
Do you have to use it on the floor you pickup the golden bomb? Or can you carry both uses to use for moms fight and it lives?
@@superbennyboy1 You cant without the combo I wrote there. Golden bomb makes Mama mega free. Book of Virtues makes using Mama mega drop 6 wisps who drop golden troll bombs. New floor, intentionally drop a wisp. Safety scissors makes them golden bombs. Rinse and repeat.

not sure if this is ACTUALLY obscure or not, but in relation to piercing bombs with dr fetus... the forgotten synergises with dr fetus, which is fairly obvious, when you pick it up, the forgotten can charge his shot to instead throw a bomb instead of the bone, but did you know this bomb can actually deal contact damage? it only works when the bomb is airborne, but i thought it was an interesting little tidbit for the forgotten.

Magneto: Chests that are close to Isaac open automatically, this includes spiked chests without taking damage; and just like Sharp Key, can be used to steal the contents of chests in Challenge Rooms.
Oh, so that's what does it. I've come to just. Accept. the fact that occasionally I'll have runs where chests open in close proximity. Thanks!

Ipecac also gives self explosion immunity to forgotten (it should work with berserk too)
if you have the pickaxe space item and sulfuric acid your pickaxe becomes a golden pickaxe
It's because the pickaxe inherits Isaac's tear effects, meaning it can change color the same as tears.
3:57 tfw dialogue box prevents you from seeing it after the first one
Belly Jelly can prevent Dark Esau turning you into the Lost.

PS: already know about stealing the skull of the hosts with Mom's Bracelet. Very useful.
Another thing to note: if going for the 2nd knife piece don't use mama mega on that floor. Using mama mega will take effect into that part of the room even when you go through the entrance to start the 2nd knife piece making the route back to exit being much more difficult **from personal experience**
So it's really cool to see that the suplex plus berserk combo was changed from a bug to an actual synergy. I specifically remember seeing the combo being used before but if you did it right the enemy was deleted. Really cool that it's an actual thing now.

Said it before but Jupiter synergizes with the ponies. They make it so the speed boost that acts as Jupiters charge doesnt get consumed, meaning it turns Jupiters usually unusable "speed up" into an actual speed up. Charging the item is still required if I remember correctly

Using How To Jump with Thunder Thighs creates shockwaves when landing. Not sure how common this knowledge is, but it hasn't appeared in a video yet.
As I said many times, this effect is only active during one of the curated daily challenges. You cannot do this in normal gameplay.
i haven't experienced this myself so i don't know if this is true, but i've heard multiple people claim that you can (VERY rarely) teleport to the Ultra Secret Room with things that would randomly teleport you, even if you haven't found it normally

Ha! I didn't think that they would pay that much attention to the effects of TMTRAINER. It's cool to see the simultaneous freeze and burn effects in a game other than Pokemon!
Dead cat dissappears when all the 9 lives has been used. It also removes the guppy transformation if you had it.

You missed the best part about hollowed ground: you can keep leaving, than reentering a room to spawn other holy poop, which stacks the chance to negate damage :)

I dont know if its still this way in Repentance, but unlike Spoon bender, Telepathie for Dummies and Godhead, Sacred Heart actually gives you Homing Bombs

Not sure if you've done this before, but spirit sword will give a screen shake effect when swung if you have a high enough damage stat (works for 100 dmg). Got it during the pong challenge, very OP and was a neat find!

Here's a neat little obscure trick that I think should definitely be in the next video:
You have the Options? item as well as the Broken Padlock trinket, a chest + another pickup you really want/need spawns after you clear a room, you can bomb open the chest (except haunted chests), grab the pickups that spawned from it and the other pickup won't disappear! It's only if you touch the opened or unopened chest that makes the other pickup disappear. However, if the bombed open chest spawns an item instead and you snag it, it WILL cause the other pickup to go poof. Oh, and you can do this with Sharp Key as well, but you'll ofc be using keys instead.
There is a neat synergy with; Mama Mega, safety Scissors and bethany's book of...

The Poop + Hallowed Ground
Activating The Poop causes that instead of spawning a common poop, it spawns Hallowed Ground without taking damage (And the effect of spawning it by taking damage can still be used)
The blood bomb thing I actually learned about on accident when I walked into the Boss Rush and opened a chest that spawned from a tinted rock, thinking I could take the drops and leave. Dunno why I even went in or even cared to look at the items, the trophy was sitting in the adjacent room waiting to be picked up. I was wrong however, for the Boss Rush started and I panicked, especially because I was doing the challenge where you could only use little poop friends to hurt enemies. If it weren't for my Poop active item, a LOT of patience, and several blood bombs I would've died.
Weirdest learning experience I've ever had.
mom's bracelet allows you to pick up and move tainted ???'s poops for repositioning purposes
4:06 omg I remember learning that while playing the co-op beta and then at some point I forgot my yum heart was fully charged and everyone was trying to get me to use it to enter the challenge room but I didn’t pick up on it for so long 😭
you can sacrifice plum baby with plum flute if you use the flute and then sacraficial altar

magneto can open up chests from far away, which can also be used to steal challenge room contents and backstabber makes you do double damage when hitting enemies from behind
coupon causes a single item in the shop to be half price.

The reason why familiars have a connection is because familiars shoot the tears in the direction you are shooting, that’ll probably also work with 360 or whatever is called maybe joystick

Vasculitis synergies with status effects (burn, fear etc.) By making enemies affected with those effect shoot tears with this effect
Maybe this is silly to even bring up as a "lesser known" effect, but it's something I didn't know about for a long time since I never looked at the wiki - the Old Bandage gives you a chance to drop a red heart when taking damage! For a while I thought it was just the worst boss item, worse than Breakfast because it doesn't even give you a filled heart container
This makes it one of the best health ups, especially when paired with blood donation machines or blood oath.
straw man can be used for sac rooms at one coin a hit.
also, i'd so cheese angles that drop items with a perthro effect, seeing as you could have many keys
also- before one of the big patches. useing the death certificate and the moving box can let you choose 4 random items inside the death certificate floor. it no longer can. you would hold the items and not set off the floor ender.
This may be something obvious but i didnt think about it. When you use the gift and it drops the poop, is a reference to the cinematic of change of floor.

The We need to go deeper! spawns a crawlspace every time, as long as you use it over decorative tiles, for example skulls on the floor, candles, etc.

For Hallowed ground it's important to mention that the poop drops not on where you are, but where the poop (familiar) is positioned, so if you have too many familiars, you need to make sure the poop (familiar) is close to the devil beggar/blood donation machine when trying to abuse it.

It would be nice if you could demostrate if some item combs also work when picked up in different order. (Like do you still get the bomb immunity when you pick up dr. Fetus last?)
I know that for libra+soymilk thr order which you pick them was relevant pre repentence.
Item order does not matter except for items that balance out all stats such as Libra or Rock Bottom.
Runes of ehwaz can also be used on dark room dirt. Also a question I had, if t. Samson is berserk he can’t die even if out of health until time runs out, can he survive plan c if timed correctly and possibly pick up health after it finishes?
Nope. Plan C insta-kills you no matter any forms of invincibility you may have.
I forgor if this was already or not, but PhD heals you 2 hearts and always grants an extra coin in the blood machine

@@sethstoll8525 Yea, I lost with that run sadly. My favorite effect is with the (I forget the actual name) Gamblers Box (The slot machine active item) everytime you win you gain a familiar based off of the prize that has a unique effect
9:07 also, fast bombs i believe used to have their own bomb sprite but since repentance, they no longer do
apparently Dr. Fetus and ipecac only give immunity for only your dr. Fetus bombs. All other explosions, even your own, will hurt you. I found this out when I had those 2 items plus compound fracture :'^)

When playing in multiplayer as tainted Jacob and Jacob and Esau normal Jacob will be damaged by the dark Esau (other characters are unaffected)
It's not about an item, I know, but I think it's pretty interesting nonetheless
I'd assume it's intentional, as it does make sense. Dark Esau goes for Jacob, because in Dark Esau's eyes it's still Jacob.
It'd be a pretty huge coincidence if the one character that's affected by Dark Esau (other than Tainted Jacob) is actually just Tainted Jacob from the past, is indeed a bug.
8:07 I had this synergy once and I got Tammy’s head with these 2 items, Tammy’s head doesn’t shoot bombs out,it explodes on top of you, super op synergy.
Magneto can do the same with Sharp Key to steal stuff from challenge rooms, but only from unlocked chests (make sure to not touch the chest or it’ll start)

The order in which deaths list chooses enemies is mirrored in the mirror world.
Why would you think Strawman is useless, it's one of the only way to use sacrifice rooms while playing The Lost without wasting lives, and Keeper is awesome for sacrifice rooms
Having Aquarius and Sacred Heart will make the Aquarius trail homing
It works with anything that gives you homing tears

Did you know that giving eye of the occult to azazel gives him brimstone range? It will also have synergy with loki's horn and monstro's lung, giving him a LOT of lasers without sacrificing charging speed. And the cherry on top, the kinda infinite range is applied only to azazel, it doesn't apply to incubus or twisted pair; they will shoot as if the have marked tears.

You said previously that the pretty fly orbitals will instantly kill some fly enemies but this is actually true for some other orbitals as well (such as slipped rib)

8:05 this is because both items reduce explosion damage by half a heart, so when you combine them you are basically inmune
Not related to item effects, but it's a cool little detail I noticed in game:
When a maggot type boss (Chubby, C.H.A.D. or Carrion Queen) eats a bomb while charging, you can see the glow inside of the boss coming from the lit fuse of the bomb. It's very subtle, but easier to notice with Curse Of The Darkness
Also probably a better known fact, but when aforementioned bosses eat a bomb, its fuse time is reset (so for example if a bomb is about to explode and gets eaten, it will still explode with a delay)
Y'know, the screen shaking was in afterbirth+ too, all you needed was ipecac and The Apple thingy (I always forget the name)
It’s just called “Apple!” lol. I think the same thing happens with tooth shots from tough love.
golden mama mega so worth it. it's like 1 bomb detting everywhere at the same time,minus self damage.

I'm not sure if this classes, but screw it. If you have both red key and book of virtues, you'll gain a red wisp that will sometimes unlock a red room upon entry, the more red wisps you have, the more chance you have of unlocking rooms, and yes using it as bethany makes it broken

Another one -- Red Stew provides a draining DMG up, but killing enemies actually restores a bit of the damage. If you consistently kill enemies, you can actually make the stat boost last longer, even though its drain rate increases as it gets closer to 0.
If you have Guppy's Eye, Mimic Chests may show different objects until you get near to them
7:00 another thing, if you have magnet (the one that opens chest,I forgor name) it will auto open those chests without starting the fight aswell!
