I've always heard that Donington evenings are best avoided.. now I know why. I'll stick to my winter track days in the cold and pissing rain. You should have asked for a refund, also agree that if you want to take it up a notch and time your laps you should stick to test days, part of the problem with these type of track days is the pace difference between fast/slow cars. Some of these guys were probably beginners and having people fly up behind them at 80mph+ into a corner must be unnerving, that's the organiser's fault though for not grouping the cars up properly.
Christ, that trackday looked a nightmare, the guy in the Clio is a complete bellend and the event just look over booked. I always book MSVT trackdays when I do Brands as they control the number of cars at anyone event. With that amount of cars on track it should have been controlled with sessions.
That clio driver is by far the worst ive ever seen. Standard “i have a race car so im a racing driver” proof money doesnt make a good driver. Shocking behaviour, id have reported him to the marshals.
Actually it might be unfair to judge without knowing what they did. There was at least one black flag readied. Even if they are kicking out the muppets as fast as are being reported from the posts, it still may not look like it from a highlights reel.
This is what I always worry about on a track day. 1. The guys with more money than sense who stick a GT3 in a gap that doesn't exist and make everyone else move for them. 2. The complete clueless clowns who don't understand the basic rules and courtesy
Genuinely can’t believe the poor standards of track driving all in one evening!!! I was at donny on the 29th of July and everyone was pretty much brilliant!
I was there that same evening too (29th July) and that was a dream compared to this. Never ever witnessed footage this bad with so many poor drivers in my life
You’ll always get this with certain trackdays to a certain degree. If you want better quality track time, get your race license and a race car then book a test day.
Remember when UA-cam was flooded with Russian dash cam videos ? most of the time it was some twat in a Lada that was the cause of the accident, well it seems to me, watching track day videos that Clios & Meganes are the Ladas of the track day 😂
Why has the algo put this in my feed now?! But nothings changed from my recent visits, done 4 track days at donny in the last 18 months, every one has been over crowded, very poor driving standards, red flags and big egos. Best day I've had there was a very wet rainy one where most of the paddock didn't want to drive.
I have noticed some right morons this year on trackdays, the online briefing stuff isn't working, I went to brands hatch evening session a few weeks ago and people overtaking on the right hand side in druids! Was this footage from donny this Tuesday by any chance?
Yes it was Tuesday. I'm really hoping they keep the online briefings going as it makes it so much easier when at the track but yes I don't think people watch it.
@@Sparkplugsteve I hadn't been to a trackday in years, but it was always a briefing in a classroom before you went out. I went to Donington a few weeks back and it's the online briefings, no instruction about flags or overtaking points specific to the track. I barely managed a proper lap without a red or yellow flag. Twice I went out and the cars that went out in front of me span at redgate. One car rolled over in the first 10 minutes (luckily he had a rollcage). Overtaken by a radical on the right through a corner despite (right) indicating to move out of their way. Overtaken during flags. Briefly tailgated by an old porsche boxter who then managed to spin behind me trying to keep up exiting a corner. Greasy conditions but still lots of race cars on slicks. Barely anyone on the proper line. Held up for 5 laps by a slower car who wouln't yield to a blue (eventually blacked). An extremely fast AMG that blasted down the straights but then would hold people up by trying to turn in on the wrong side of the track, and then nearly spinning on exits despite slow speed. Nearly all the cars that were black flagged were allowed out again in the afternoon. Never seen so many spins and crashes on a track in my life, maybe banger racing, but trackdays just seem to be getting out of hand. I've applied for my ards for next years so hopefully soon I'll be getting my thrills through that.
Many bike trackday companies, it seems it is all about making money. And to help with track safety. A couple are excellent, and will happily black flag anyone breaking their rules, as pointed out several times at the briefing. Seems to be creeping into car trackdays now. Never seemed to be the way a few years back. Sad to see.
This is the problem when you get a mixture of driver skill level all in the same session. Madness. Should be sent out in smaller groups. Nothing worse than a traffic on a track day. Makes for some nervous laps 😂
Make a 2nd very small Best-Of version with Benny Hill music ! lol ! they deserve it (i'm french so i don't know if i'm using good "deserve") ^^. a small advise, i'm not a "pro" in real driving but many tries in virtual racing show me that staying on the left as much as possible and entering a bit later in the first right turn is more efficient ... but maybe more risky. it's what the White Fiesta make at the end of the video.
Christ that Clio 🤦don’t you find though evening sessions can have a different quality of cars and drivers to days ? Plus when you have all day your less in a rush for track time , funny video mate
Ir's stuff like this that worries me on track. As much care as I take whilst driving quick, other people are just d!cks. Also having the track so crowded is pretty poor on the organisers behalf.

Busy doing stuff Fluctuates from track to track and the time of year. Open pit lane for the day from £100 in winter on a weekday to £300+ in summer on a Weekend.

0:52, this happened to me! Not exactly the same but worse, he didn't brake and entered pit behind me, he drove slowly in the chicane, then move right exiting to the straight, what would I thought? I thought he was giving way to me as overtaking on the left was the rule. So I flatted out and go to the left, then he suddenly cut in front of me tried to get into the pit! FOR FUCK SAKE! WITH PBS PRO RACE and AR1 TYRES, I was less than 1cm from his car under heavy braking! FUCK ME!
Steve It's Dave from Opentrack here : Numbers wise we have 65 cars booked on all evening's at Donington and we have up to 40 cars on the track at anyone time, spread out over the 2.4 miles of the circuit. This number is the same for all track days at Donington as numbers are set buy the circuit not the TDO. There was some Crap driving on that video but I can only deal with bad driving standards if people report it to me on the day at the track. There is no point posting a video complaining about it when you get home. When I find out about it a week or so later there is nothing I can do about it. We quiet often do Black flag people if Marshalls or other drivers have a word with us at the circuit, and I am at each track day ( out of the 80 so far this year I have missed 3 ) However I would point out that if you want to time your track day then you should be heading to test days and get a race licence as Timing invalidates not only any track day insurance you or other drivers on the circuit may hold . But more importantly it also Invalidates my Public Liability Insurance. All the best Dave Opentrack.co.uk
Fair points and il take that on board. The lap timer won't be seen again. The standard of driving I don't blame anyone for other than the drivers themselves. I can honestly say that other than the clio I had completely forgot about every other incident until I watched the videos back a few days later. The over crowding is a constant issue that annoys me on evenings but I guess I'd do the same if I could make the money withing the rules of the numbers allowed. I do not have a problem with reporting an issue of I feel the need but iv never chased you down. It's far easier to just tell the pit marshals whole I'm queuing. That's the route I always take.blame lies with the marshals to do the job of spotting bad driving. If they really want my help in spotting this on the day then they can feel free to pay me for my time and services. 😂
Also you have to agree 40 cars is just a mess and it's 1.9 miles on the national. It's ruining the reputation of your trackday evenings. Good to see dastardly and muttley on track in their French fancys😂
Seems a crap track, poor track management, shite level of drivers mixed, flags managed bad, early flags at end of session.. Not selling it very well!!
Can we have some salvage cars plz
Way too meny cars in at the same time
6 mins! Gits
Why is everyone so slow
You don’t own the track mate.
Cool 👍🇫🇷
Greedy organisation way too many cars on track, or should be graded
Lots of ego, these brits
