My brother absolutely loved this song and most chumbawamba songs he died last week aged 56 so we had this song playing at his wake his favourite when ever i hear this i will think of him
bastard! .. I missed them totally to my huge regret, please don't tell me that they were amazing every time and do please check out Jay (Beans on Toast) .. he is of a similar ilk quasi-politically
Proper 'live' band and will never forget the experience of catching them in the flesh circa '95 Of the hundreds of gigs i have witnessed, that was one of my top 20 with ease.....
Stop now! What's that sound Everybody looks What's going down I am a timebomb A ticking ticking ticking timebomb Unattended on the railway station In the litter at the dance hall Sitting pretty near the fast food counter In the backseat of a vauxhall I am a timebomb Stop now What's that sound Everybody looks What's going down Hear the ticking of your heartbeat beating Hear the breaking of their promises Heart the smashing of your expectations Hear the shattering of half-rhymes I am a timebomb Stop now What's that sound Everybody looks What's going down And all the timebombs They're all dancing to the same song In a world full of no-ones I am a someone Stop now What's that sound Everybody looks what's going down Stop now, what's that sound London bridge is going down
Whilst not as fiery and righteous as their other songs they did have amazing knack for making fantastic music, hell this videoclip is pretty much how i remember 90s. so yes Chumbawamba you were incredible band and i am saddened that the cause did not get more traction, inspite of the band's immense effort.
that's precisely the Chumbawamba's spirit: infiltrate the system to increase the spreading of the message - what they did from within. and as you have pointed so nicely, they might be the world's most well-succeeded band to do it! [I have even wrote an academic article on that] Chumbawamba rules!
Steven Stills is credited as a writer on this song for its lyrical allusion to For What It's Worth. Louise Watts (I think she sings lead) is a phenomenal singer.
Corina Graf i've been listening since the early nineties when they were living in Armley' Leeds i was living ten mins' away in Bramley i still today think that the line in the song homophobia about "the toilets up the street" is referring to Bramley shopping centre. The best time of my life was the mid 90's when everybody was listening to chumba' and smoking good 💩
Not bad for a bunch of anarchists from Leeds. Who am I kidding? This is pop genius on a grand scale. Made by a bunch of anarchists from Leeds. Confused now.... I bet they are too
@@TheUKMikey funnily enough, Tubthumping was more or less calculated. They had a 2-album contract with Virgin which earned them a shitload of money, enabling them to do whatever they want and keep recording for the rest of their career. (Which they did until 2012) They figured that "selling out" was worth it for them, and they donated a lot of money to good causes; even though it earned them some ire from some of their long-time fans at the time. Of course, nobody counted on them getting a hit quite *that* big, but they didn't exactly complain, and used their temporary fame to troll a lot of people, lmao.
This band REALLY are worth seeing live - I saw them when they headlined 'The Big Weekend' in Cardiff (I forget exactly how many years ago) - there is something about a female singer dancing on stage wearing a nun's habit, with a bottle of Jack in one hand and a cigarette in the other!!
w o w. still as awsome as it always was. this is my all time get me going song. im gonna try yo get it on c. d. soon. awsome vid its a shame other music is not this good.dont ever stop tickin we love you.
I bought this song from Anarchy on the Google Play Store and the bridge in that version is not the same as the bridge between 2:06 and 2:31 in this version.
The MAXI single and the album version are different, yeah, still a great track with a strong message from a great band any way you slice it. If you dig this I suggest checking the title track from the album Shhhh!, that song is probably my favorite of theirs, lyrically and musically.
theoriginalMaxman2 You're right; the title track of Shhh! is a great song. So are many of Chumbawamba's other songs in general, not just their world-famous hit Tubthumping.
Love this song, have done since I was much younger. First time I've ever seen the video though, anyone know why it shows Tower Bridge at the end though?
My brother absolutely loved this song and most chumbawamba songs he died last week aged 56 so we had this song playing at his wake his favourite when ever i hear this i will think of him
Sorry for your loss. He must of had a good heart, this band is amazing.
Luckily for me,I saw Chumbawamba 6 times live, they were absolutely brilliant every time. Fantastic!! Wish they were still in existence.

@@mikenorledge4110 the only regret of my life is not seeing Chumba live. Oh well maybe a reunion concert in the old folks home. Cheers!
One of the best live bands I've ever seen. Live shows were just a full on experience
I'm so jealous! Started listening to them in 2017 and love it so much
I saw them only once in cologne.
But you are right, great concert!
One of the most misunderstood and underrated (by the general public, that is) bands ever. Great stuff!
Very true.
what dont we understand?
The worlds most successful Anarchist band.
Love the song. Love the underlying message more..
Sex Pistols ?????
@@ade7246 pfff Swx Pistols where'nt really that much anarchists...

so yes Chumbawamba you were incredible band and i am saddened that the cause did not get more traction, inspite of the band's immense effort.
And here we are, nothins fuckin changed.
Because words, as a matter of fact, can´t save us.

Is it possible to download it?
This is probably the best Pop song of all time.
Strange this was their only hit...so many other great songs in their catalogue.
I'll guess you mix this up with their other famous song ^^
Here for Zerocalcare
This '90s song before Tubthumping is fun to listen to.

+Richard Abbott They're mostly from Burnley, they were based in Leeds though. Confused?
Have you heard of a US smash hit record called Tubthumping? I don't think they're confused at all.
it was very intentional and in line with their politics which only further proves the genius thing
Failed anarchists make bad pop stars
