Born in '71. I was 16 in 1987 and grew up in Los Angeles/Long Beach area. We never knew how good we had it. We thought it was always going to be this awesome. Nope. All good things come to an end.
I have heard Poison in their Prime and Brett Michales in his solo tour more recently! What your seeing is what you get - bands of this era were fantastic musically and could back it up on stage. Many of these songs stand the test of time for a reason. Well written, composed amazingly and performed with so much showmanship and passion. This era was a blast and these bands still sound great although the guys have put some years. This is from a single video and just done with clips placed in - they didn't use digital like we do now - most of this was on film and done more like a movie. It still looks great today in my opinion.
When poison made a video yes it’s a video they brought all their guitars, clothes, hairspray , basses everything. They jam packed their videos with all their stuff. BTW if you want to hear the song live now google poison live on the stadium tour 2022.They’ve come a long way.
Being a musician, songwriter and vocalist myself, I played in bands and the 80's and 90's and the live shows were like this and even a lot of the bands who just played in the club scene used these kinds of effects as well. The bands that I was in played a lot of the clubs and us as well as others used these kinds of effects, but on a smaller scale because you were in a club. Most all 80's and some 90's live band shows you went to; you were going to get a great show like this.
One of the guitars that lead guitarist CC Deville is playing, is the hot pink Jackson DKM (DK2 maybe??) with the matching headstock and a maple fretboard, is a holy grail guitar from the 80s. OMG! So iconic. There are re-issues today of that guitar. Built for metal, but will also do bluesy riffs quite well too.
I’m assuming you already know Kevin gates? If not could you react to black clouds by him?? He’s so smart and soooo crazy at the same time lol but his music is 🔥
When I hear from a hip hop/rap fan this is too polished. I can't help think how autotune is sooooo over used now and so much of hip hop/rap songs are so mixed and computer generated that they CANNOT do it live. Why you cannot have a live bar band doing most of that music today and just deejays and recordings play. At least local ROCK bands still can actually play this stuff live in a bar and other Rock songs 70s 80s even 90s. Even some new Country has that over autotuned sound of distortion like that Wallen guy even uses where he sounds like almost a hip hop artist. Back-in-the-day of course they had mixing and reverb. Just I found it odd that this was called Too Polished vs the music today so autotuned anyone can have their voice fixed at home with software and ..... THESE GUYS COULD PLAY THEM INSTRUMENTS LIVE. Today how many hip hop/rap artist can and do in any show that is somewhat live? Also artist then HAD to be able to do it Live also as touring was expected.
Yeah it did strike me as a bizarre comment. We are now in the age of over produced and over auto tuned. Many modern singers even auto live performances now. And if maybe the playing and singing sounded too polished compared to say grunge well the thing is for all the way grunge mocked hair metal and pop the fact is that most hair musicians were vastly more technically proficient than those in grunge and most of the singers far superior vocally and much better practiced. Not being able to play half as well doesn’t make something more real it just makes you less skilled and practiced or less capable. They are not overproduced they are just extremely skilled. That good.
And yeah they could do stuff live now half the time live shows have half the instruments prerecorded and much of the vocals. But not old school performers, certainly not this type.
Love the comment “no wonder curt cobain hated these guys they’re haivng fun”. Exactly!
Born in 1970…..the 80’s were amazing hard to really know the vibe unless you were there…great times

Not concert video.... actually a well produced video on a sound stage. Yes they do sound this good in concert.

They sounded just like this live as well
Hair Metal has never went away, the concerts are still packed.
Love this. Music with fun injected.:)
"No wonder Kurt Cobain hated this. They're having fun"
Mic. drop.

Bands in this era and prior actually practiced.
I've seen Poison at least 10 times starting in 1988 to present. They always sound perfect live!
❤❤❤
Very entertaining. Still look and sound good. Some of the 80’s bands can’t quite claim the same. 🔥
This video and others like it back then cost a shit ton of money to make. They sounded great on that tour too.
It went away 1994
That's funny but you're right Kurt Cobain was angry cuz they were having a good time!
CC DeVille changed out 5 or 6 guitars in this video.
Motley Crue, RATT, Dokken…the best three hair metal bands

React more yb
Pro tip don’t add commentary every 10 seconds…

This isn’t YB 🤔
You should dive in a little bit my friend. I am 100% certain you will find some very good music within that realm.
