With UA-cam's podcasting endeavours starting to bloom and Spotify allowing it's podcasters in certain countries to upload video podcast, it is increasingly becoming relevant to at least start thinking about making video podcasts.
Doing so requires - first - a good camera. Recently, the best beginner camera is hyped to be the Sony ZV-E10, and for good reasons. It shoots in 4k (downsampled from 6k), it does not overheat, has no recording limit and offers a really snappy and reliable face/eye detection autofocus, which make it an ideal beginner's camera.
However, the face/eye detection autofocus can in certain specific cases let you down: you have to make some sacrifices to use it. There are 6 cases, when you will not be able to use it: this video lists these cases and why they are important.

One thing you can do using edge is focus tracking, don’t know if you mentioned it ? Why has nobody done a decent in depth video on the edge app ? What work arounds can you think of for shooting video solo and getting focus ? For example can everything be set up in focus with the help of a friend and then saved as a preset, if you are going to be shooting YT in the same position each time ?

Face/eye AF works in 4k30fps 100/60m Just need face registration (page 11) and smartphone connection off , F/E AF still works in photo mode with smartphone connection on. tested on zve10 + Sigma18-50mm dc dn.

Thanks, as a photographer I never use those functions you mention, so to achieve eye af for photography this is a little beast of a camera
Note that most of these issues don't happen on ZV-E1, with an (probably?) exception of Product Showcase mode (it doesn't show facial AF but a focus on an area).
This can do PC remote (for Monitor+) + Clear Image Zoom + Proxy Recording without losing eye tracking, but Clear Image Zoom and 120fps are mutually exclusive.
I guess A7R5 should have the same set of processor and maybe does the same.
That was exactly the info I was looking for. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out why I was loosing auto focus. I am using Monitor plus. To be honest though, the app has serious lag and constantly looses connection and I have to reconnect with scanning the code. And I am using the sigma 16mm 1.4. So basically this video just pointed out that everything I have won’t work for what I am trying to do, which is talking head videos.

I have gone through all of these. I’ve checked all the boxes and it still doesn’t work. Does it matter if it’s in NTSC or PAL ? My 4K output select is also grayed out. What am I doing wrong ?!!!!
The Clear Image Zoom function does not operate in the following situations:
In Movie mode
It allows you to enlarge the image with close to the original image quality when shooting still images (Sony official site )

The eye focus function on my Zve10 that I acquired yesterday (20th march 2023) has refused to come on, it states that it's not available when the camera file format is set to XAVC 4k mode.
I don't think I've ever seen this issue with anyone else. I've tried both in PAL & NTSC, same thing.

PLEASE HELP!!! I used a tt artisans prime lens on the sony zv-E10, and now when I switch back to kit lens, it wont work! It wont zoom, it wont autofocus and I cant even change the focus mode cos its just STUCK at manual focus!!! Any solutions???

HDMI depends on Framerate and PAL / NTSC when recording to SD-Card.
I remember on PAL with external Monitor on some Framerates even the internal monitor goes black. (FW-Version 2.0)

Probably not, I have both the original and a knockoff Sony tripod/remote for zoom and shutter, it does not turn it off.

It's overheating in 4k recording though. it's probably because i also use HLG2.
It was the HDMI out being set to memory card and output... Had to do HDMI only and now eye tracking is back on... What a frustrating camera with gotchas here there and everywhere hiding to screw you lol
Got a gimbal, but to connect via USB you have to turn on PC remote control... which disables eye autofocus.. what a crappy camera.
Just ridiculous sht. There should be big red text on the product page stating that virtually none of the advertised features can actually be used.
