I've been working my way through the mini course and these extra lessons for a week for a few hours each day. I'm amazed at how much Spanish I now understand in such a short time. This teaching format really works well for me. 😊
You are the best Spanish teacher of all time. I will be purchasing your course soon. My ultimate hope is that I can find a similar course to teach me French and German in the future. Your methodology to by far the very best. Thank you so very much.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for explaining how things literally translate to English, nobody does this and it is absolutely necessary for me to grasp a phrase!
Thanks, you really are a great teacher, I appreciate your constant patience and repetition--it does not look like an easy job. I have had a couple years of duolingo level 22 - 23--but it is not like having someone explain everything--again thanks--mucho gusto mi hermano, Respecto, CJ
Thank you Paul. I love the way you tie words and sentences together. Very easy to follow along. And I am glad you show the words while speaking, it makes it so much easier to understand how the word is being pronounced. I still can't hold a conversation but I am starting to think in Spanish while I'm doing things around the house.
Paul thank you so much muchas gracias I love your lessons and am learning something everyday I could not speak a word before In this year i have made so much progress Very grateful to you Regards Tammy
Me da alegría hablar español con hablantes nativos mas temprano por la primera vez. Muchas gracias por todo.Nunca voy a olvidarte, Paul. Saludos desde Pilipinas
Hi, Paul: This is the best Spanish course online. Very helpful and easy to understand and follow. Two thumbs up! Me Encarta maestro Paul. I just have a suggestion. Is it possible to add an index with a search function to your weekly lessons. It would be easy for us to go back again to review. Thanks.
Hello Paul! I like your lessons a lot and all of them really helped me to improve my spanish and start speaking. I would like to take your course. Which topics will be there?
A spanish native speaker say: Me alegraría poder hablar español contigo. It is the correct sentence, but, if you are foreigner, no problem, we understand you
Just to improve your knowledge In Spanish we write the words Señor y Español With the letter Ñ The word it should be written in plural always Like this Muchas gracias, Ending in < S > both words meaning Thank you But we can say without the two < S > mucha gracia meaning very funny Your comment written correctly it should be: Muchas gracias por esas lecciones señor Paul Me ayudar-on rápido - a - aprender español
I love your videos because you provide a lot of examples. For me, the more examples there are of a concept, the more it is reinforced in my mind. That being said, can you make a video expressing "in a while" or "for awhile" in Spanish? There aren't a lot of resources online about that.
I am enjoying your full course along with the addition of new material every Monday. Looking forward to spending more time refreshing my Spanish with you now that estoy jubliado!
hola Paul. me gusta mucho tus videos aquí. i would like to request you to make a video using how to look forward to doing something with someone. muchas gracias
Just wondered if there were any other examples for using me hace other than feliz; and also why does "courage" mean mad in Spanish? Your lessons are very helpful. Thanks.
me hace feliz...it makes me happy tu me haces feliz...you make me happy me haces la tarea por favor...do you make the homework please me hace pensar...that makes me think--- etc ahhh and the word "coraje" is to be brave in english ellos estan defendiendo su pais con coraje(valentia), valiente they are defending his country with courage. courage= coraje, valentia o valiente he is courage= El es valiente mad= enojado (ungry) I hope these phrases help you. pd; I`m learning english too, bye
Courage in spanish it can be mad or bravery, both meanings are accepted and correct. The word Courage etymologically its origin is in French and it has 2 meanings, the first was anger and the second was bravery, in Mexico it is mainly used as anger, in Spain it is used more as bravery. That is why an English-speaking person can be shocked by a different meaning, many English words originate from French and Latin.
Could you explain what you mean? "Excuse me" would be "Perdóneme" (formal singular), "Perdóname" (informal singular), "Perdónenme" (formal and informal plural), or simply "Perdón" (can be used either informally or formally, regardless of number). As a noun, "excuse" would be "excusa" or "pretexto," and "to make excuses" would be "poner excusas" (literally, "to put excuses") or "buscar pretextos" (literally, "to seek excuses").
Me da mucha alegria hablar Espanol and I hope that my speaking Italian will make this learning easy. Thank you Paul. I love your lessons and have just started. (But how do I type the ' over the letter I?) and how do I type the ~ over the letter n?) Do I have to change my computer settings to Spanish?
I think that learning Italian is more difficult than learning Spanish. Among other things, there are more irregular verbs in Italian, spellings are more difficult, and articles are more varied. Having learned Spanish has helped in many ways, but has also interfered in more ways than one. 😊✌️
Hi Paul, can we use "enojado" for the word "mad". I have never heard the word "coraje" and the online translator that I use shows the meaning as "courage" :) Just curious.
In Spanish you don't "make" mistakes but you "commit" mistakes. Therefore the correct way to say it in Spanish is COMETER ERRORES. "Me da risa pensar en todos los errores que cometo en espanol".
SpanishWithPaul.com I'm just speaking based on experience. I already got corrected twice, once in Colombia and once in Spain using hacer errores. So I'm most likely not going to use it again. I think it is safer to stick with cometer.
I agree arnelf36, it's a delicate thing. Stick to what you feel safest with. Today I asked some native Spanish speaker friends of mine about that sentence and they didn't see anything wrong with using hago in that context. Having said that, Spanish is so diverse that what may be acceptable in one country might not be in another.
When “me hace” is used, an adjective is used to follow it. For examples, it makes me happy = me hace feliz or me hace alegre. When “me da” is used, a noun is used to follow it. For examples, me da felicidad (happiness) or me da alegría (happiness). 😊✌️ So, we say “me hace miedoso (fearful) manejar solo en la noche” or “me da miedo (fear) manejar solo en la noche”. 😊✌️
In Paul's paid (and worth every penny many times over) course, there are about 1 hour and 45 minutes of lessons on por / para. You will learn how to use them.
Pay and get his course- it’s addicting and worth the small fee. I just went through the POR vs PARA course and it became crystal clear in my head very quickly.
I believe the following explanation is largely correct: When an exchange is happening involving money, then use "para". However, if you want to say "for" use "por". Of course there are always exceptions of which the most common is "Esto es para ti" - this is for you. I also agree about Paul's paid course. It will be the best investment you can make.
The way I think of it (whether 100% correct or not) is that otra vez is literally "another time" and de nuevo is like "again." I think they are somewhat interchangeable
I`m speak spanish...when you say that... "quiero hacerlo otra vez" it is the same to say "quiero hacerlo de nuevo" for us is the same. I`m learning english like you in spanish. Any doubt you tell me.
"Me da tristeza." The difference between the two constructions is that "hacer" can only be used with adjectives and verbs ("me hace reir," for "it makes me laugh," for example) and "dar" can only be used with nouns. So you can say "me hace triste" OR "me da tristeza," but NEVER "me da triste."
I just wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for not allowing advertising in your videos
AMEN!! That would be SO discouraging!! 🙄🤔
Thank you so much for your help dearest Paul, God bless you and wish you all the best ❤❤❤❤❤

"Muchas gracias." "Gracias" is feminine plural and therefore requires the feminine plural adjective "muchas."
Thanks, you really are a great teacher, I appreciate your constant patience and repetition--it does not look like an easy job.

It is good work. Thanks
Very good lesson. Thank you Paul.
I'm Italian and I realize that it's easier for me to learn Spanish
excellent presentation ✔🌟
Me da Feliz estudiar espanol aqui contigo cuanto lunes. Gracias.
"Me hace feliz." "Dar" can only be used with nouns. "Feliz" is an adjective and can therefore only be used with "hacer."
You can say “Me da felicidad” for “Me hace feliz”. 😊✌️
Gracias señor
Thank you.

Paul is the sentence correct. Me dará alegría si puedo obtener un oportunidad hablar español contigo
I know it correct
hello I speak spanish and it's correct in the future...
but the article isn't "un" the correct is "una". So-> Me dará alegría si puedo obtener una oportunidad de hablar español contigo.
It's "una" oportunidad
A spanish native speaker say: Me alegraría poder hablar español contigo. It is the correct sentence, but, if you are foreigner, no problem, we understand you

por un rato
por un rato = for a while -I think :)
I finish in a while: Termino en un rato
For a while more no problem: Por un rato más no importa
I am enjoying your full course along with the addition of new material every Monday. Looking forward to spending more time refreshing my Spanish with you now that estoy jubliado!

Hi Paul please can you tell me how to the word Excuse like you making excuse, thank you Paul!
Could you explain what you mean? "Excuse me" would be "Perdóneme" (formal singular), "Perdóname" (informal singular), "Perdónenme" (formal and informal plural), or simply "Perdón" (can be used either informally or formally, regardless of number). I think that : “it makes me mad” it’s : “eso me enoja” . Explain me please why is tranlated as “ me da coraje ”???
In this example, 'coraje' has nothing to do with courage - but instead means 'anger/rage/fury'.
Hi Paul, can we use "enojado" for the word "mad". I have never heard the word "coraje" and the online translator that I use shows the meaning as "courage" :) Just curious.
You can, but I personally would say "me enoja" for "it makes me mad."
Me enojo si me hacen esperar es correcto pero es correcto tambien me da corage si me hacen esperar both are ok
Courage is animar for example estoy animada para estudiar ingles
Courage is tambien animar estoy animada para creer en el amor otravez
Yes can use that word: enojado
is more common
In Spain we use:
enfadado, cabreado.
Gracias ......
Amazing
Thank u paul
Thank you.
In Spanish you don't "make" mistakes but you "commit" mistakes. Therefore the correct way to say it in Spanish is COMETER ERRORES. "Me da risa pensar en todos los errores que cometo en espanol".
Actually both cometer and hacer are used in Spanish when talking about mistakes. It depends upon the circumstances.
SpanishWithPaul.com I'm just speaking based on experience. I already got corrected twice, once in Colombia and once in Spain using hacer errores. So I'm most likely not going to use it again. I think it is safer to stick with cometer.

Me da coreja pensar que estoy un imbecile que puedo hablar español como quiero todavia
Q-MgameTech Me da coraje pensar que soy un estupido y no puedo hablar Español como quiero todavia.
Me da coraje o rabia, ya que soy un imbécil que no puedo hablar español todavía
Why are you using me da and not me hace in "me da miedo manejar solo en la noche" I'm confused.

El senor Paul , quiero beber un cafe con leche contigo
I thought esperar was to wait for?
Tengo que esperar mucho tiempo?
Un poco confundido!!!
it could be "to wait or to hope"
We wait in hope?
We wait or hope. 😊✌️
Me da triste pensar no peudo hablar en español😴
Sousou White el correcto es decir me hace triste
"Me da tristeza." The difference between the two constructions is that "hacer" can only be used with adjectives and verbs ("me hace reir," for "it makes me laugh," for example) and "dar" can only be used with nouns. So you can say "me hace triste" OR "me da tristeza," but NEVER "me da triste."
*Me da tristeza creer que no puedo hablar en español
Sorry for correcting
Why can't say : da me alegria, it's easier.
Sorry for the interference 🙋
Because the rule in Spanish is that the object prounoun always goes BEFORE the conjugated verb in a statement or a question, never after it.
That would mean « Give me joy » instead of « It gives me joy »
You’ll understand it more once you learn the imperative mood
