As someone who is also way too OCD with my lead placement and alignment, I LOVE when paddles have “landmarks” on the edge guard that I can use to line everything up!
Same, I get late to things because of "oh damn it how did I not notice this earlier, shouldn't take long to fix it." 30 minutes-1 hour later done now I feel better.... but now I'm late and few bad about it.
@@Pickleball_dad 😂 I have seriously considered breaking out my laser! Especially because sometimes the logo or whatever landmark I’m using on the edge guard is off, with one side being higher/lower than the other. That really drives me nuts!
Hahaha, this is so relatable... I almost wish they had straight lines in the edges of the paddle so you could place your lead/tungsten right along the straight edge and not worry about it 😂
Agreed, he has been a great guy to talk paddles with, and my interactions with him have been pretty much what you'd expect based on his podcasts/reviews.. very thoughtful, kind and helpful.
I’ve had golfers elbow and completely agree with you - vibration dampening and weight, both swing and static, are key to alleviating golfers and tennis elbow - I’ve been using the Pulse V since it launched - absolutely no aggravation of golfers elbow - Happy Holidays guys!
Thank you for dissecting it. It matches my experience too. I have the Moo, Alibaba 3s , legit mod and legit 3s. The Moo is the heaviest which lined up with what u have. The legit one hits harder and has more pop but the moo is still decent in power with less pop which makes it easier to control (drop shot, reset). The issue I have had is that both Alibaba ones have edge guard issue.
@@pkcheng5556 What a coincidence, my Vatic Pro Saga Flash has the same issue and VP customer service told me to just superglue it and won't warranty the paddle 😮💨 Had the same issue with my old 11six24 Hurache-X Control Kevlar but they did a warranty exchange and apologized for the issue. VP just lost me as a customer (I'm just going to sell Saga, can't trust it to play tournaments with) and 11six24 will continue to get my business with the Alpha1 when it's back in stock and possibly the Vapor Power next month.
@@PickleballMedicineyour welcome, by the way I'm liking the Spartus Olympus atm going to be my main paddle going forward I was previously using the Vactic Pro Saga Flash SH
It seems like there is a lot of variation among available models on Alibaba and AliExpress, perhaps you were lucky and got one more closely constructed to the real deal than mine!
Nice!, can you post the link of where you bought it from so that I can get the exact one. I want a Mod TA but not bad enough to pay close to 300 bucks for one.
My Mod ta-15 knockoff sounds slightly different BUT mine also hits hard plus I have better control than the original one. Overall I play better with the knockoff.
Love seeing the cross section of the knock off MOD vs the legit MOD. I think this puts to rest the idea that these unbranded Chinese paddles are the exact same thing as the real deal ("same factory, same paddle", blah, blah nonsense) like so many on Reddit love to say. This is proof they are absolutely NOT the exact same paddles minus the branding.
Shocker! Not too much positive feedback on the Sapphire, but you’re in love. I love the dissection of the paddle clones. I loved the Chorus Supercourt sneak peek. I can’t wait for those to be released. I love to get more information on 11SIX24 releases. Anyway AMAZING POD. Have a great Christmas!!!
Interesting breakdown on the mods. Keep in mind this is a sample size of 2. There could be a wide variability of the replicas. Some players agree with you and others that don't based on their own experience with it.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! I add lead tape to my V for added pop & power, and I run a strip of 1g/inch weight basically all the way up the flat parts of the paddle on the left and right side. I like my paddles on the heavier side, so someone else may prefer 0.5g/inch strips, or just 1-3 grams at the 3 and 9. It does play well stock, the sweet spot is great, but I like the weight for more power.
I have a bunch of different Temu paddles and found 2 that I like better then my Joola Hyperion 16 mill Ben John’s and better then my other brand name paddles from Engage
I have a TEMU "counterfeit" MOD-TA coming this week. $21 bucs so I had to take a chance.I wish I'd seen this last week. Temu is showing a RUBY for $54 bucs. Thanks for taking time to do the dicections. All the PROKENEX were made with TUNGSTEN beads. The Dawsons recently sold the company is my understanding. New owners must have changed a lot of the tech.
I don't think the knock-off models are bad inherently, persay, they just certainly aren't the real deal, haha. And that is interesting, I actually didn't know about the company transfer when I first got the paddle. I'll be interested to see where the trajectory takes them!
@@PickleballMedicine I'm in San Diego where the The Dawson's have "Bobby Riggs" pickleball club. I think Steve saw the writing on the wall with all the PPA, USPA, UPA paddle crap, and got out. He has moved into online tutoring and running the club I hear. Great family, great for the sport. Reall OG's of pickleball.
Do you have any more specific info for the release of the Apes Pulse X yet? Trying to decide what to do post-Mod TA delisting announcement though I am happy that I, as an earlier Mod adopter, am being extended the 50% off offer for the upcoming Perseus IV Pro. That said, I'm skeptical of continuing with Joola.
Curious to see how the Enhance Pickleball Banger stacks up against the new 11SIX24 Power Vapor. Currently maining the Gearbox Pro Ultimate Hyper and really enjoy that paddle.
@Carpe.Dinkem interesting because Enhance Pickleball rates their Banger as an 8/10 in power. Are you saying the 11SIX24 Power Vapor is significantly more or less powerful than the Banger?
@@kylepickleball I will say that a lot of companies rate their own paddles pretty highly. But the Vapor Power is a big step up from the Banger in terms of power.
It will be nice to hit the courts with it and have a more informed response, but even just holding it in the hand and knowing what I know about how they are built, i expect they will be pretty different.. but I'll let you know when I hit the courts! So far @carpedinkem is the only one of use that has court experience with it yet, haha
Hmm, those are good choices.. honestly I would say the 247 Mystic, but if you mean specifically put of those two, I actually think the Aero is a little shorter than 16.5" after measuring myself, so not the full elongated length, so if you really want the full 16.5 than the echo. But I do think the Mystic has a little bit more of a sweet spot than the Echo.
@ Thanks I haven’t heard of the Mystic. I will look into it. I have been looking into the Aero after watching your Engage review primarily because of it’s very low swing weight and manuverib
You can check out our take on it in podcast episode three! The Aero is great, for sure, the Mystic just has a little more reach if you want the full elongated shape.
Got knock of Gen 3 Magnus last year from Ali Baba. Of course it’s not a replacement for an original one, but I think it’s been playing quite well. The sweet spot is decent, and it has quite a bit of power too.
I think they played fine, for sure, and for roughly $30 it's hard to argue against in terms of cost benefit, but they just play so different from what I've experienced, haha
@ my bad, I had thought I was already in 2025 lol. Got it in June 2024. Actually got 1 Perseus and 1 Magnus shape customized for a total of CAD 114. Decided to keep the Magnus for myself and gave the Perseus to a friend. I like the paddle so much that I guess once the core crushes on this one, I’m going to get more of these from the same manufacturer
I have the Mod Knockoff and the original and believe it al not I actually like the knockoff better lol. I had a friend tried mine which he has the original and he liked mind more lol.
Yeah, sorry about that.. definitely some growing pains figuring out how to both do setup and editing of the audio on this sort of production.. by far the hardest part!
Many Joola 3s' on ebay claiming brand new and for $100 less than retail. These can't be authentic, though they have all the markings of an authentic Joola. Beware
Very good warning... these could trick a lot of people who may be none the wiser. They have the USAPA approval logo imprinted on the face, but im not sure if that really means anything, or even if it could be reliably verified.
CRBN probably has an embargo on reviews until they actually come out since they won't release any info themselves. Last I heard on another pod, they're coming out next month.
I'm confused. You say Six Zero paddles are a little soft for your liking because you like to play more aggressive... But your favorite Six Zero paddle prior to the Sapphire was the Double Black Diamond 16mm Infinity?? That's Six Zero's softest paddle by far. 🤔 If you like to play more aggressive, you'd think you'd like the 14mm Black Diamond or one of their paddles that hit harder. 🤷
