      Thank you for this wonderful comment! 🙏🙏🙏 Some manufactures do, and some don’t. No one has asked for my opinion on their product though, so everything I use I have purchased myself. Perhaps that lends some sort of credibility to the evaluationprocess, but it also limits what I can confidently talk about to what I can afford to buy! I decided early on to just showcase good stuff/products, and not bother you guys with my opinion on the rest. I’ll be happy to try and answer any of those questions you might have. You are most welcome back. 😀👍

      @@lofileif Thank you very much for answering. As someone who also deals with all that stuff since the journey has began (in my case with Roland GR-300 - by the way: it was an absolutely wonderful guitar that I still miss sadly after 20 years ... most of the other about 50 guitars I don't hahaha) I understand all aspects of your comments. Especially regarding picking dynamics. And indeed it is absolutely amazing to see how any tool and plugin reacts in a different way to the individual picking. Basically the difference between finger and plec and inside these two different worlds any individual kind of picking.
      What I can say after viewing your videos: I will buy the Tec-Controller + SWARM solo-brass + solo-strings during the next months. What I already have is "midi guitar 2" - but I'm not really using it - I miss the possibility to toggle single strings. Also I have Fishman's "Triple Play Connect" (I don't like battery-only driven stuff :) and all of Spectrasonics including the relatively new "nylon sky" extension. Fishman and Spectrasonics work very well if you accept the limits ... hahaha ... Anyway: I really love it - it can create atmospheres. The speed and accuracy I observed in your videos with "midi guitar 2" I only can achieve using the Roland / Boss stuff. Currently I have a sy-200 and I'm about to re-buy a (used hahaha) VG-99. The GR-55 I had in the past too - I will not rebuy it - it is too complex and the sound seems to be not so transparent as I love it. And the GR-30 is nice but now indeed out of date.
      Anyway: I will come back after I get the Tec and SWAM. These tools put mg2 in a solo context and that will make a difference.
      I would also like to write you an email sometime in the next few weeks, if that's okay with you.
      Till next time ... :)
      PS:
      Your Steinberger - is it "carbon" or "wood"?
      Do you think that the additional stability of a carbon neck is a remarkable advantage regarding the tuning during playing ...

    This is fantastic and for me mind blowing! 👍 You are a very good musician and with professional sound and thank you for your explanations how it works. Only the connection on the iPad is not clear to me. I have an iPad Pro with Camera Connection Kit that only has a USB port, similar to the one in your video at 22:42 where you connect the Breathcontroller. But where do you connect the interface for the guitar? At 23:00 it looks like the interface is plugged into the headphone jack? 🙏

    • @lofileif
      @lofileif  7 місяців тому

      Correct, the guitar comes in via the iRig through the 3,5 jack. And the breathcontroller USB goes to the camera adapter into the lightning port. This works because it is the old iPad pro. The newer ones have only lightning or USB-C, and for those you’d have to use a hub.

But I have used my breathcontroller almost every day for 3 years, and if you have seen a few videos you know I bring it along everywhere, and I haven't had ANY problems with it. could this work with a Boss/Roland guitar synth gk3 gr-55 system as it is a midi device vst controller.
    came across the bbc 2 a while ago and this video.. and was wondering , thinking what a clever thingy.
    and would it help with the awful glitchy Roland midi, help tame its squeaks and squawks tracking
    problems. there are wind instrument files in the gr-55 but which are useless to use as they tend to misfire
    if you as so much as bend a string ever so slightly.. very annoying yes I know its technique adjustment.
    so would the bbc 2 work or is it just another extra 4 layers of learning technique music muscle memory?

    • @lofileif
      @lofileif  9 місяців тому +1

      Hi Patrick! So, even f you were to find a solution for getting past the interfacing issue, connecting the BC to the GR-55, it is still very doubtful if it would make a difference at all in terms of play-feel. The breathcontroller just provides a separate controller stream that you get to assign to whatever parameters are available in the GR-55. And these parameters will be available to you after conversion into MIDI (since we are talking about the MIDI part specifically). And any glitchiness, squeaks, and spurious notes coming out as a result of the poor Roland pitch-to- MIDI conversion will still be there. You just have control over some parameter of the resulting sound (volume or a filter or something). I am struggling with finding a more fitting case for the expression "putting lipstick on a pig" I am afraid. There are far better setups if you are looking for a great smooth controllable MIDI output to use with something like a breathcontroller, in my opinion. 👍

    Is there a noticeable delay between picking a string and hearing a note using CME WIDI Uhost or Panda Audio MIDIBeam? I want to get one of these, and I don't need a long range, but the CME is described at a Bluetooth device, not radio frequency, so I'm concerned it'd add too much latency. Thanks for all your videos!

    • @lofileif
      @lofileif  Рік тому

      Hi Nico! No considerable latency for any of these setups at short range. It does increase with distance, but at that time you are almost out of range (for the CME Uhost) anyway. I use the Uhost for almost everything at home, but if I am to perform live, I would prabably go for the Panda, because of its better reach and less likelyhood of signal issues. There is a latency in general to the whole MIDI Guitar setup, but it is not aggravated by the wireless setup (as far as I am concerned). In short, Panda is better, but Uhost is good enough! 👍

I can perform swell and other types of expressions etc with BBC2 - right? Then why do I need Midi Guitar? I am trying to play SWAM instruments using lap steel guitar.

    • @lofileif

      Hi Sujoy! The advantages of using MIDI Guitar 2 (the software) together with the BBC2, is the amount of expression you can get out of a regular guitar as compared to any other setup I know. If you already have something that turns your lap steel guitar into MIDI so you can use it for SWAM instruments you probably don’t need the MG2 software.
      With regard to speakers, I do not use wireless speakers in my setup ever because of the amont of latency they bring to the mix.

    Hey LoFiLeif. So, I got the TEControl. I have a way to go before I figure it out, so I'll start with a first question... Is there a way to adjust the pressure (the amount of air that passes through) on the device itself? I ask because I came across a video that, if I got that right, said that one could. Is it at the tip at the end of the part that has the hole where the air passes? Does that part turn? I tried, but it doesn't look like it does.
    A related question is the setting of the breath in the TEC software. Right now, I have to blow quite hard to get the cursor go up significantly. Is that normal? Can it be optimized?

      Hi Bernard! I use the fully closed postion. No air lost in the process and I feel it is the most sensitive that way. You should be able to set the curves so that you don’t have to blow hard at all. The further to the left you have it start the faster the response to your breath. Also, the steeper the curve, the faster you’ll get s hard response to your breath. 👍

      @@lofileif Fully closed. Interesting. I'll try that, and obviously I have to explore these curves in the software.
      As I think of it, anything in particular about the maintenance of the controller? I was wondering where all the humidity goes. Do you clean it often? Or?
