Or can it be far away, either in my state or even another state? In the event that I would need to pick up paper work or something like that, I would hate to have to drive a few hours. I found a place that is very reasonable and doesn't increase fees every year but they're not close by.

The RA can be anywhere as long as it is in the same state when the business is registered
