I have a couple of questions. 1) How does the new car compare to Thrust SSC? 2) You went faster than scheduled, but what is the predicted terminal velocity without the rocket?

I believe it was stated to be about 650 mph without the rocket. Initially the car was supposed to have 25000 more horsepower than Thrust SSC, but I think it will be scaled down a bit for the 800mph test. Bloodhound is also much lighter than Thrust SSC weighing in at about 7.5 tons while Thrust was 10.5 tons.
Technology and engineering has evolved some 30 years since Thrust SSC made her incredible runs. Bloodhound is a more refined vehicle, designed to reach much higher speeds with greater safety. With a long enough track Bloodhound could break the current record on jet engine alone, but as we 'only' have 12 miles to accelerate and decelerate - plus leave a margin for brake failure, we need the rocket to speed up acceleration.
