As a guy who had a lesion removed and now see my Dermatologist every six months, I have checked out a number of sunscreens too. Beauty of Joseon dries clear, and at the end of the day your skin is better than when you put it on. For me it has a tiny unpleasant smell for about 2 seconds, then none. But totally recommend. One of the LaRoche's gives me red blotchy skin, but for most people it's also nice. And for slathering it on your arms and body and even your face the Trader Joe's is just fine. My significant other uses the EltaMD and loves it. So just my take - but for sure use something!

Thanks Dr. Shereene for your great content! I grew up in SW Florida, I just had my annual full-body screen/mole check.
I'm on the right track when my Derm says, "I wish all my patients had their SPF game dialed-in like you." SUCCESS! I want to walk in his office and hear that each and every year. Casper the ghost is my goal. 😆🤣😂

Shiseido is the best hands down in my opinion and I’m not sure why you don’t talk about it ever especially because it’s so popular and highly rated. It’s won the Allure best of beauty award. If you don’t like it and there is something wrong with it I would be interested in knowing that info because I’ve been using it for the last two years. I will say I have tried a few you swear by because that makes me curious and I got a tan on my face through them. I did reapply. So I immediately went back to my shiseido and even laying out at the pool/beach wherever I put it I get zero color from the sun. Don’t get me wrong I would love a tan on my face but the only reason I’m wearing SPF is for anti-aging so I’m not going to wear something if it’s not even working. For people asking for oily skin I use the urban defense oil free one for every day it’s fantastic not greasy at all. I use the clear stick over makeup it doesn’t disturb my makeup and it’s a great way to reapply it’s having a moment right now on TikTok. That one does have a slight sheen but doesn’t budge. I use the face and body one for the beach and pool it’s gives a beautiful glow it’s a peachy pearl liquidy lotion that rubs in clear and I KNOW it’s working because wherever I apply it I’m white as a ghost and I don’t put it on my legs and stomach and I get tan there so maybe go to Shiseido website they have a ton of info about sunscreen and they have a powder foundation with sunscreen that I’m also going to get for the summer in the humidity just for extra shine control and coverage. Btw these are just my opinions and for those who need a sunscreen that isn’t just elegant but also does the job for the people that are exposed to the outside elements and heat and humidity and that don’t want to be a greasy mess with a white cast😅

There's one thing I always ask myself when it comes to SPF and that's how a high-end sunscreen is different from inexpensive ones. Why wouldn't we just put nivea sunscreen on our body and limit the more cosmetically elegant ones for the face? Do they make any difference? Does the brand affect quality?

Every sunscreen made in the USA burns the F out of my eyes. My sunscreens of choice are the KOSE UV Perfect Gel SPF 50 for my face, and VERDIO UV Moisture Gel SPF 50 for my face and body. They are super affordable and come in decent size bottles. Those 1.7oz sunscreens can go kick rocks.

@@studiogirl1967 No burning AT ALL. I get them at Stylevanna. It can take up to 3 weeks to get to you, but it's worth it. Shipping cost is very reasonable. The KOSE Suncut UV Perfect Gel is currently $10.33 for the 100g (3oz) bottle. Prices go up and down, so I just check back often and buy a bunch when they drop in price. It's such an elegant formulation. It goes on like a dream. The VERDIO UV Moisture gel comes in a 220g (7.75oz) currently going for $15.69. It's more of a milky formulation. I sometimes use it on my face, but mostly use it on my arms. I also like the NIVEA Super Water Gel 50, but that one isn't water proof. I use that one when I'm just chillin at home.

Long story short about me. I'm 30 and before 27 I have never used sunscreens except when I was a kid because of my mom and I also never had acne or any kind of major skin issues. However, I started to use sunscreens to prevent skin aging, skin cancer and sun spots. I have tried a lot since 3 years like chemicals, physicals, hybrids, asians and different consistencies to find the right one. In April 2021, I have started to have this HUGE unbalanced hormonal symptoms like FULL of jawline acne and increase of hair pilosity on my face. I also started to deal with different skin textures and redness. After thinking about it I have concluded that I may not be the perfect candidate to wear sunscreens because I have stopped using them, started back hiding from the sun, and wearing large sport hats since a week and I am starting to see improvement. I only talk about my face because I always wear long shirts or kangaroo sweatshirts. Does anyone deal with the same problem about sunscreens? Maybe it is the UV active filters who causes me these skin symptoms, I don't know 🤷‍♀️ but I kinda gave up after 3 years of tryouts

I have dry skin that can easily have reactions to things and always have the issue of sunscreens irritating me or breaking me out. I've had some luck with the Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen - even though it's usually mentioned as good for oily skin, I find it works pretty well over a moisturizer for me. I work from home and not near a window and I only wear SPF when I go out though, so I have less days wearing it all day. Are you layering anything under your sunscreen? If not, I'd really recommend wearing a moisturizer underneath, even if you have oily skin. I know I could never use a daily moisturizer with spf by itself without a layer of something underneath, I need a barrier in between to reduce irritation.
